Same with Dragon Age: Origins, though I've also got several mage Wardens I'm very fond of. I'm all about mages and greatsword-wielding warriors in DA2, though, those classes kick the most tail. In TES, probably melee since I've never been too wild about how those games handle magic; my Dunmer assassin in Morrowind had a real preference for short swords and basically landed a crit hit with every swing by the time I finished the game. In my guild on Furc, I love magic and the lore in theory, but in practice it's much easier to just stick with a mundane combatant. (Not that we do a whole lot of combat. We slay each other with sarcasm instead.)
Active or Turnbased? In most PC games, definitely active. On Furc, in order to keep things fair, turnbased is basically mandatory, though we don't always decide the outcome of things with dice rolls unless two players just can't agree.
