What it says on the tin. Many forums of similar style, not limited to just roleplay, have some sort of option that allow members to see unread threads or new posts. We currently have an option that notifies us on the dashboard for new messages in threads we're subscribed to, but I think it'd be nice if there was a section where you could see new posts from the entire forum.
Naturally keep Just Talkin to an exception to this rule, since it's pretty much RPR chatroom.
I searched for similar suggestions and this thread is what looks somewhat similar to what I'm proposing, but to clarify, I'm thinking of a section, like the Your Posts tab, for example, that instead lists new posts from the entire forum.
Edit: Replaced 'topics' by 'posts' in the title, since topic and thread literally means the same thing lmao.

Seconded!
Similar to our own personal notifications feed, an overview of "here's what people wrote while you slept" is my equivalent to opening the newspaper in the morning. It's also a good way to find public RPs to read along with!
I think I'll lobby for either of these two options:
I'd prefer it if such a feed were either "X most recently active topics/posts" or "topics/posts in the past X hours" (24, 48?), such that people returning after a long absence don't run into a wall of text, but are met with more of a teaser of what's been going on since they last visited.

I think I'll lobby for either of these two options:
(a) Only show topics that have recently been replied to. In case someone's up rapidfire posting with their partner, or a general RP or forum game is really busy - so that few, very active topics don't risk dominating everything else in this feed.
(b) Show both recent topics and posts, but in side by side columns. Same reasoning as above, except now with a preview of recent posts as well, with the topics column being for recently created topics rather than just any topic that's been recently replied to.

Edited 10/05/2025 to add extra explanation to point (b).
Having discovered that actually, there is a 'Recent Topics' section in the sidebar on the News page, I'd like to reaffirm my enthusiasm for something like option (b) above, and, like OP, preferably on a separate page, so that we're not limited simply to seeing which five topics were most recently replied to, but instead have an overview of new/unread posts and topics that has more longevity. If going with the "X most recent" model, I definitely think the number should be higher than 5, if it were on a separate page.
An "unread" page is especially useful as a discovery tool for people who don't visit the forums every day for whatever reason. If given the choice between a page that lists any topics with unread posts in it since my last visit, and a page that has "X most recent", I'd definitely prefer the former.

Oh damn, I was logged out of RPR for a whole month and I didn't even realize you answered to my thread. I'll edit this post with a proper comment in a bit, gimme an hour or so-
Edit:
I don't think there's much I could add to what you said, yeah. Those suggestions would be a pretty good improvement compared to manually browsing through all the same boards and just finding a one or, if you're lucky, a few more new topics or topics with new posts. I'm assuming RPR runs on a modified phpBB codebase? If that's so, phpBB forums already have such function "built in", from what I said in the starter. This one forum I'm currently browsing has a "Quick links" button on its tab. It opens a dropdown menu that lets you see your posts, which is already implemented on RPR, but then it also lets browse-
It'd be a massive convenience if these buttons were all in one place, too. Perhaps as a new dropdown, probably separate from the [Forums] dropdown since it'd probably clutter it even more.
Anyway, thank you for digging all the way through the S&D board, finding my thread AND replying to it, Bruinen! :B
