When Huatli’s planeswalker spark ignited, she traveled to the city of Ghirapur, where she met the brilliant inventor Saheeli Rai. They found that they had plenty to learn from one another; Huatli shared stories of the dinosaurs of her home plane Ixalan with a rapt Saheeli.
The flow of information continued after they parted that day - and so too did their romance kindle. Eventually, during the Phyrexian invasion of the multiverse, Saheeli created a host of dinosaur-shaped constructs in various sizes and shapes to help defend her plane, and after the invasion was broken, Huatli crafted the Gold-Forged Thopteryx in Ixalan.
Though they both lost their sparks following the invasion and were no longer able to travel the multiverse, Saheeli was able to rejoin her lover in Ixalan by moving through the Omenpaths. She was recruited by the new Sun Emperor to craft an army of filigree dinosaurs, like the Mastercraft Raptor, theoretically for defence of the empire against further invasion — but the boy-emperor’s majordomo seemed keen to use them to invade other lands instead.
