Not sure if anyone knows me, or even cares... And I have been here since August last, and so far I have had a BLAST and learned much... Write with GREAT individuals... I have several stories and a *few* characters... some used, some not used... and I can pretty much say, my characters are primarily monogamous... I truly love this place, having been in a few roleplaying areas before, like AOL, Proboards, and Jcink... I have done chatroom RP, and play-by-post, and even Play-by-email.... and group play... but I found I can do one-on-one stories that are more full filling... and I have grown even more fond of it since being here...

Alas, there is one pet peeve I am sure we all have... GHOSTING someone !!!! I think it is the most rude deed in the history of roleplay.

You put in effort to write a story and get it going, then BOOM... nada... one week tuns to two... weeks turns to month... and soon a month turns to months, plural. Messages are sent... no answers. You don't want to be rude and keep messaging... so you wait... and wait... then you make the decision to delete, or put in storage... some never to be touched... then there is the exception... after a few months, the person responds, only to find you have moved on... and make you feel like ...dodo... for not having faith...

RPR has a "CURRENT STATUS:" TOOL... USE IT.... please !!!! And you can adjust it to just be seen by: Registered Users... Friends... or Everyone...

And the more I run across this, . (played anonymously)... the more leery I become... Like you start a story, get it going good, and poof... NADA... or someone says "Lets write..." and you start a post... and poof... NADA.

Message after message to the vanished until you grow weary with it... Ok, yeah there are a million excuses, I got that... but please use the tools available to let your writing partner or even prospective writing partner to know what's going on.......

All I ask is don't GHOST anyone... be upright and let those you do not want to write with them anymore... and always let your writing partner know when you cannot be available. The daily status or a simple message is a great way to let them know you will not be around... or dont want to write anymore... just pleaseeee don't GHOST anyone

OK, I could go on and on...but that's my bitch session... want to know more... message me...
Yeah, it happens. My perception was it happens more here on RPR than on other sites/forums I've written on in the past. It is something that comes up a lot here. I've kind of become callused with it, and have accepted that due to the numbers of people here compared to all the other sites I've written on, the percentage is likely close to being the same. At the end of the day, nobody really knows what is going on with anybody else. It's no excuse for the lack of politeness, but
it seems the thought of letting someone know they don't want or aren't able to continue with a planned roleplay causes undue mental stress to a lot of people. There is a good discussion about ghosting here that is worthy of reading through.
