[James and his girlfriend, Muriel (not in profile) are running this event. Muriel is an american born Selkie. Your character/s would have seen flyers around town advertising a casual beach party. the flyers also mentioned making sure to take any rubbish you have home with you to protect the beaches and sea animals!]

“James!” Muriel called as she pinned seashells and paper ribbons to a pole. “Did you hang those flyers around town?”

James nodded. “Yep! Hopefully lots of people show up for the celebration. You’ve done a fantastic job setting this up for the public.”

Muriel nodded at the sea themed decorated tables and benches and a small array of snacks and drinks that were set out for people. Off to the side was a set of speakers playing fun popular music.

“I guess all thats left is to greet people as they show up.”

Eventually, a peculiar person shows up at the beach holding one of the fliers in hand(?)
They're barely visible due to the pitch black coloring of their skin and only one eye is visible, but they speak out from the shade
"Is this that beach party I read about?"

Muriel regards the newcomer hesitantly and grips the coat around her shoulders a little tighter but forces a smile. “Hello! This is the party. It not quite lively yet as you're quite early. But feel free to get comfortable or have a snack.”

James smiles at her. “Let me know if you have a song request and ill add it to the playlist.”

What better than a beach party for a beach bum? The man approaching certainly looked the part. The sun-bleached ponytail. The deep, freckle-filled tan. The Hawai'ian shirt that hung open around his otherwise bare torso, coupled with shorts. The worn jute-and-shell choker that rested around his neck with its prominent adam's apple, and a few similar bands on his boney wrists. The lack of any footwear as he strolled through the sand. The serving tray?

Yes, Joe had brought a tray of food to add to the offerings. It just seemed right. At the moment the tray was covered in foil, but underneath lay numerous pinwheel wraps in several different varieties stacked up a few layers deep. As he neared, he lifted the tray high into the air to be sure it was visible and called out, "YOOOOO! THIS THE PARTY? I BROUGHT MUNCHIES!"

Beach parties were always something Haru always loved the idea of. The though of making new friends while splashing around in the water or playing some volleyball in the sand always brought a huge smile to his face. So when the flyers started popping around town, he obviously had to make an appearance. If not for new friends, then at least a great day at the beach!

With a case of water on one shoulder and a couple cases of soda on the others, he didn't hesitate to stride up to the pair who he'd notice setting up things a bit earlier.

"Hey there! Saw your flyer and just had to swing by! Brought some drinks too! Have a place where I could set them?" He'd smile brightly and shrug the drinks into a better holding position.

Muriel looked excitedly between the new arrivals. And they both were so kind and generous as to bring drinks and snacks too!

“This is the beach party!” She said brightly, widely gesturing to the decorations and tables set out for the guests. “James can help you both set your things down.”

While Muriel looked right for the beach party with a loud personality wrapped in a tasteful pale blue cropped shirt and a split skirt, James would look a little out of place. Dark clothing, heavy metal merchandise and a quiet disposition. The only thing ‘beachy’ about him was the shell and sea-glass circlet he wore.

He did smile and gesture for each of them to follow him to the tables. The snacks would be laid out on the table and the drinks given a spot in a cooler full of ice.

“Thank you for coming to the party. Muriel’s been so excited to host one.” He said, looking over at his girlfriend.

After quite a long time of standing there, Clef eventually steps out and onto the beach, feeling a lot more comfortable out in the open with more people in the vicinity.

He stays silent but wanders around, eventually pouring himself a cup of water but never taking even a sip and watches from a distance, but doesn't look to be willing to do any harm, and more of looks to be roaming and spectating the actions of others as if collecting research.

"Sweet." Joe continued on over to to the guy dressed to sweat. To each their own. "Lead the way, my man!"

The other already there looked sure to end up in even worse shape dressed head to toe in black like that. Or maybe that was the thing's skin. Who knew? Looked a little weird, but he'd seen weirder.

At the moment, he was more interested in what the other new arrival was carrying, and the rest of the icy cooler. Joe set the tray down where instructed and leaned over to peer at the drinks. "Hey dude, got any cherry coke stashed in there?"

Cheerily following close behind, Haru wouldn't hesitate to set down the items where instructed, ripping one of the cases open and putting cans in the cooler in order to start getting things a bit more chilly.

Glancing over at the other new guest, he was already halfway through cracking open a can of coke for himself . "Oh! For sure dude!" Not hesitating to thrust his hand into the freezing box, he'd dog around before tossing one over to him. "Not a bad choice, I prefer energy drinks myself but I figured I could save those for when the party really gets started!"

Taking note of his host, he didn't want either of them to feel left out.

"You want something too?"

At the same time, a peculiar figure swam ashore from the ocean nearby. A female humanoid, with a human head with short horns, and arms, but with dark-green scaly legs, a turtle shell covering her body and having a bushy seaweed-like tail. She was Wakumi, a Honengame.

She managed to get a hold of one of the fliers and got interested in the party.

"I hope they won't mind me, this sounds exiting." she said in her mind.

James shook his head at the offered drink. “No thanks. I have a water up front. Feel free to hang out. Ill be playing some live music later too if your decide to stick about for it. My girlfriend practically begged me to play.”

The young man chuckled sheepishly rubbing his neck.

Muriel practically skipped over to the newest arrival, bright a cheery. “Hello hello! Glad to see another new face. We have drinks and snacks prepared over by the tables. Please mingle amd have fun!”

"Thank you." Wakumi nodded and smiled. She then headed to the tables in order to have a snack and enjoy the party. However, befor that she transformed into her human form, wearing a dark blue kimono with pink flower patterns and a purple sash.

"Hell yeah. Thanks, man!" Joe fumbled a little catching the can but at least he didn't outright drop it. "Energy drinks? Dude, you look like a chugger of protein shakes."

The energy drinks Joe had bothered trying in the past also tasted like pesticide and sweetened buttcrack to him, but that was no reason to rain on someone else's parade. He had cherry coke anyway. It foamed up when he popped it open, be he was quick to put his mouth to the can and slurp up the spillage as best as he could before it dripped into the sand.

Joe was still slurping when James mentioned he'd be playing live music, resulting in a minor coughing fit. He looked thrilled anyway, despite the slight wheeze that briefly lingered in his voice even after clearing it. "Sweet! Whaddaya play, dude?"

He stepped aside to make room for woman who had come over seeking snackage.

Wakumi began to eat from some of the snacks, which were very good. She was also enjoying the music from the background. After the snacks, she went over and had some water to drink.

“Are you okay?” James said quickly when Joseph started coughing. Once it seemed like he wasn’t in any immediate danger, he relaxed slightly. “Oh. I uh. I can play a few instruments but ill be playing my cello.. Muriel asked for it specifically. B-But dont worry. I know some popular modern songs. It wont be old music unless someone asks for it… ”

He seemed a little awkward about it but kept a friendly smile in place. Quickly, he looked over at Wakumi. “All good?”

"Yes, its good." Wakumi said, with a glass of water in her hand. She took a sip, smiling, while sitting down onto the sand.

Joe waved off the concern. "Yeah, yeah, jus' a little fizzy drink tried goin' down the wrong tube."

He sipped from the can and hummed his pleasure with closed eyes. Oh, sweet cherry-flavored nectar of the gods.

"Cello, cello... ain't that the big-ass violin thing? And there's, like, some guys who jam out Metallica with 'em?" The man began approximating some of the notes from One. He bobbed his head and swayed his arms to mimic playing, well, some kind of instrument as he went, and nearly spilled his drink in the process.

James winced a little at the ‘big violin’ comment. There wasn’t much of a reason to correct mild mistake but it made sense. They did have similar shapes and both used a bow.

“Yes. It’s the bigger looking string instrument. Ive watched them before. Apocalyptica is think their name is. I follow Two Cellos as well. They’re amazing artists. Taking classical instruments and using them for modern songs and music hits.” He looked over at Muriel to make sure she was okay before quickly turning back. “I uhh. I know a few Metallica and ACDC songs….”

Mia wandered along the beach in a daydream as her internal thoughts churned. She hadn't realized how far she had walked along the edge of the surf when she looked up and saw she had wandered right into a beach party!

She at first felt a little self-conscience being just in her swimsuit, and the thought did pass by to turn around and walk back to where she left her stuff, but her eyes caught two people talking about musical instruments and songs. Of course this drew Mia in, fir she was quite musical. She decided to suppress her anxiety, and she walked up into the dry sand and smiled shyly.

"Hai! I couldn't help but notice your party from the water's edge. Do you mind if I join you?"

Mia eyed the cooler nearby and asked, "I could use something to drink. Is it ok if I grab something out of your cooler?"

"Aw hell yeah. Maybe we could do a jam sesh later. Just need to fin' me a ukulele. Or a harmonica? Man, I need learn me one of those dope little drum things 'at look like a UFO."

Once again he mimed playing something, clearly some sort of drum this time, and made some ping noises with his mouth. With his mellow oddness, it might seem like maybe he had had some dope himself, but there wasn't any smell of it on him. He stopped when he noticed another woman had come over.

"Yeah, yeah, let me get out of the way," Joe promptly answered, despite not being the host. "Sweet suit by the way."

The man moved away from the table a little and instead stood nearer to the woman who had taken a seat in the sand.

"Yo. Ain't you hot in that whole kimono thing? I mean it's great, but that's, like, a whole blanket."
