The newcomer Erin was guarded about where she'd come from and Kyle had to appreciate that, he knew nothing about the girl and she knew nothing about him, she could be fleeing an abusive ex or some kind of government agent for all he knew. So he didn't press, just smiled as she said she didn't know where she was going.
"Oh I get that, well welcome to the open-road club. I hope you find somewhere to fit in."
She started to eat, picking at the pastry and clearly enjoying it.
Ravenna did "that thing" with her hair that Kye found adorable and welcomed Erin, then called Takoda lazy. Kyle looked over at the wolf whose ears had pricked up, he let out an indignant growl and Kyle laughed.
"Oh you've done it now, he's surly!" He chuckled as Takoda rolled on his pack and gave a doggy growl of contentment while he squirmed and searched for a comfy spot.

Erin leaned back in her seat slightly, the mug warming her hands as she watched the wolf shift with a dramatic huff, clearly offended yet entirely too comfortable to do anything about it. Her laugh was soft but genuine, and for a moment, the guarded tension that usually lived in her shoulders slipped away.
“Oh, he’s definitely got opinions,” she said, glancing between Kyle and the lounging Takoda with amusement. “But I respect a creature who knows the value of comfort. That’s a rare kind of wisdom.”
Her eyes flicked toward the kitchen where Ravenna had disappeared, and a quiet warmth settled in her chest. The place had an ease to it, like the world moved just a little slower inside its walls. Safe, in that rare, quiet sort of way. She turned her attention back to Kyle. “The open-road club, huh?” she echoed with a playful smirk. “Sounds like we need a secret handshake or a worn-out map to mark all the almost-homes.” She joked lightly.
Her fingers traced the rim of her cup idly. “Though I’ve got to admit, this place feels... different. Not quite home, but maybe the kind of stop you actually want to linger at for a while.” She tilted her head toward Takoda, playful again. “Assuming I don’t offend the resident guardian again by comparing him to a cat like his handler did. She's probably the only one that can call him that and get away with it!” A wink followed. “Wouldn’t want to end up on his bad side.”
