The newcomer Erin was guarded about where she'd come from and Kyle had to appreciate that, he knew nothing about the girl and she knew nothing about him, she could be fleeing an abusive ex or some kind of government agent for all he knew. So he didn't press, just smiled as she said she didn't know where she was going.
"Oh I get that, well welcome to the open-road club. I hope you find somewhere to fit in."
She started to eat, picking at the pastry and clearly enjoying it.
Ravenna did "that thing" with her hair that Kye found adorable and welcomed Erin, then called Takoda lazy. Kyle looked over at the wolf whose ears had pricked up, he let out an indignant growl and Kyle laughed.
"Oh you've done it now, he's surly!" He chuckled as Takoda rolled on his pack and gave a doggy growl of contentment while he squirmed and searched for a comfy spot.

Erin leaned back in her seat slightly, the mug warming her hands as she watched the wolf shift with a dramatic huff, clearly offended yet entirely too comfortable to do anything about it. Her laugh was soft but genuine, and for a moment, the guarded tension that usually lived in her shoulders slipped away.
“Oh, he’s definitely got opinions,” she said, glancing between Kyle and the lounging Takoda with amusement. “But I respect a creature who knows the value of comfort. That’s a rare kind of wisdom.”
Her eyes flicked toward the kitchen where Ravenna had disappeared, and a quiet warmth settled in her chest. The place had an ease to it, like the world moved just a little slower inside its walls. Safe, in that rare, quiet sort of way. She turned her attention back to Kyle. “The open-road club, huh?” she echoed with a playful smirk. “Sounds like we need a secret handshake or a worn-out map to mark all the almost-homes.” She joked lightly.
Her fingers traced the rim of her cup idly. “Though I’ve got to admit, this place feels... different. Not quite home, but maybe the kind of stop you actually want to linger at for a while.” She tilted her head toward Takoda, playful again. “Assuming I don’t offend the resident guardian again by comparing him to a cat like his handler did. She's probably the only one that can call him that and get away with it!” A wink followed. “Wouldn’t want to end up on his bad side.”

[OOC - so sorry all, I missed Erin's last post, didn't realise you were waiting on me]
"Yeah, must admit i'm looking for a place to settle down. Turns out I just needed to find a place to call home."
He turned his attention back from Ravenna to Erin.
"So I feel like I kind of fit here and honestly some comfort wouldn't go amiss."
By now it was probably obvious to Erin that everything about Kyle was road-weathered. His clothes cared for, but dusty, his boots worn. He chuckled as she joked about his "open-road club" remark.
"You didn't get the secret decoder ring? It'll be in the post."
He just listened as Erin gave voice to her thoughts and Takoda's huffing, a warm smile on his face. Erin was nice, friendly. He hoped she would find what she wanted here too.

Erin nodded slowly as Kyle spoke, taking the last few sips of her coffee. She chuckled back as he responded back to her joking, giving a little shrug as she played along. "I could really use one of those too. Hopefully they can manage to get it to me despite me always being on the move." She laughed a little once more.
She took the last couple of bites from her pastry before taking a napkin and wiping her mouth clean. She reached back and pulled her hair loose from the leather band that held it back, all of the red curls becoming free once again. She slipped the leather strap back on her arm and got up, piling her cup onto her plate. She gave another look around, her eyes softening, almost sad.
"Wish I could stick around longer, but I really should keep moving." She didn't give the details of course, but she knew that eventually the people that were currently looking for her would eventually turn up behind her trail, and she wanted to be a couple steps ahead of them.
She smiled at Kyle and outstretched her hand, shaking his hand. "It was a pleasure meeting you Kyle, I hope your journey is a safe one and you find what you are looking for, whatever it may be." She cleared her throat and then looked back at the kitchen, her voice getting a little louder so she could make sure Ravenna in the back kitchen could hear her. "Thank you so much for the coffee and treat! You have a lovely place here, I hope I can come by some other time." She made sure to pick up her traveling bag, securing it on her back before giving Kyle another wave and a grin. "Maybe we'll cross paths again sometime, fellow open-road club member." She chuckled lightly and with that, she headed out the door.
She wasn't sure where she was going yet, but she enjoyed her time at the little cafe, and she now felt recharged to take on whatever may come her way next.
[OOC - Thank you all for writing with me! Had a great time.
Always open to plot something in PM if anyone is ever interested!! ]

She finished her meal, untied her hair and neatly stacked her plates. Erin just watched carefully smiling politely as she engaged the joke.
He could see her melancholy as she stood, almost feeling her sadness. Erin clearly had a story to tell, but it wasn't for his ears. He just nodded as she said she had to move, quickly wiping his calloused, grimy hand on his jeans as she offered hers.
Her skin was soft and he looked into her eyes as dhe bid him goodbye, a silent understanding that sometime - well, it's just time to move on.
"Goodbye Erin, it was nice to meet you."
He didn't say what he wanted to. That one day she would find her safe space, somewhere to rest her auburn curls in peace, comfort and safety. He just smiled sadly and watched her go.
He sat, dainty china cup in hand as she left, calling out to Ravenna as she left then headed out, adjusting her clothing as she stood outside. Takoda huffed and Kyle looked at him.
"I know buddy, she was kind. I hope she finds what she's looking for."
He collected his own china and took it to the counter and calling to Ravenna who was pottering in the kitchen.
"Hey, are you almost done? I believe you said you would show someone around?" He grinned his lop-sided grin and waited for the cute witchy girl who had won his heart.
[Kyle's last post in this subject, big thanks to everyone that he's chatted with!]
