Abigail and Firehouse 20 had set up dunk tanks at a local park as part of a community street fair to support the fire department special services.
How It Works: Any character who wishes to participate can write at least a paragraph having your character interact with other participants and target characters. Add a 1D20 dice with no modifiers to represents a throw of the softball at the dunk tank target button.
A result of 1, 10, or 20 hits the target and causes the bench to drop out from under your target volunteer character on the seat. You can end your post with the throw, or you can edit your post after the throw to take into account your result.
There are four dunk tanks set up; each with a volunteer character in the seat. If you are interested in interacting with any one particular character that is on one of the seats, then mention who you are targeting in your post with your first throw. They will be the target for your remaining two throws.
If you wish to have a random character targeted, then roll a 1D4 along with your 1D20 to pick your target. it is recommended that you edit in some interaction once the results are known.
The day was warm and sunny with some high clouds drifting about, and the street fair was in full summertime swing. Abigail had worked hard to get her fellow firefighters to get into the spirit of summer, and she organized a dunk tank event at the fair. She actually had the funds for four of them! She worried about finding people to sit on the dunk seat, but in discussing the summer soirée, she was happy to have some volunteers!
Red is the NPC firefighter who will be taking the dollars and handing out the balls, so if you want to work him into your post, feel free to do so. You can also volunteer to be a dunkee, or nominate others to be a dunkee if you get their permission privately. Just let Red know you are interested or have somene interested and he will make a list.

"How did I let you talk me into this?" Sam quipped at Abi as he got himself ready. Had it been a USC frat party he'd probably opted for a speedo and a clingy tank top, but this was a family event raising funds for the fire department.
Samuel climbed up to his seat wearing his USC football jersey and workout pants and he nestled himself on the seat a little as he tested the water with his bare foot. He clapped his hands and waved his arm as he encouraged his fellow dunkees to get into position.
"Come on Melody, get yourself up there. Ethan, let's go!" He clapped his hand as if it was a football pep rally! "Abbi, you owe us for this!"
From his high position, Sam looked around to see if the cute cheerleaders Chloe and Nia were in the crowd, or maybe his brother and his girlfriend, or anyone else he may know...

Ethan hadn't been around in a while, so when he got a call from Abigail Beckett requesting he get his surfer bod down to the park to be a dunk tank target, he chuckled as he agreed. He wished his girlfriend Ellie Wysocki would accompany him, but this was more a USC sponsored event, and having a nursing student from the crosstown rival UCLA may be a bit too much? He would see. He texted her what he was up to.
He walked up in his board shorts and a tank top and gave Abigail a look. "Surfer bod? Really?" he quipped as he got up onto his dunk seat. He had met Abi years ago on the beach surfing. She was pretty good, maybe even better than he was, but she went all in to be a firefighter and paramedic, and Ethan was happy to see her excel now in their local station. He kicked the water a little as he indirectly checked out the young Samuel Smith and the young lady who also got roped into doing this.

"Oh dear... I'm late!" Melody gasped to herself as she split her time walking very fast and running to get to the fair on time. She had promised the paramedic Abigail that she would put herself out there for humiliation by being a target for people to dunk. Now she had planned on wearing some sort of costume, but she had forgotten and was working out, so she went as-is in her workout clothes.
"Oh... sorry, I'm late..." she gasped as she quickly passed Abigail's tank to get to the one remaining vacant one. As she climbed up, she took a look at the two guys each side of her. She knew Sam was on the USC football team, but she wasn't familiar with the other guy./ "Hello." she said politely before looking to Sam and smiling nicely before waving to Abigail.

Marionne was at the fair browsing the jewelry and trinkets and such at the crafts booths, and she bought s native American earrings. Hearing some talking and clapping, she decided to see what it was all about. She giggled when she saw the four people sitting over the water of their dunk-tanks!
"Oh, I have to do this. Here is a dollar!" A rather handsome firefighter took her money and handed her a ball to throw. Now she wasn't sure who to throw at, but she wanted it to be one of the guys. The brash blonde guy whose name plaque said 'Samuel' seemed to be looking for someone, so she decided to choose the other guy... 'Ethan'
"Ok Ethan, you know I was a decent softball pitcher in high school." She gave him a smile as she stood and calculated the distance and the size of the target button. She then spun her arm and let the ball fly...

Summer was supposed to meet Scott so they could walk around the fair and throw balls at his little brother at the dunk tank, but it seemed he was late. She knew she shouldn't have left him in the parking lot chatting with one of his old army buddies. She texted him, 'Hey Scott, where are you? I'm going to throw balls at Sammy'
She sent it and quickly got a 'thumbs up' reaction. Smiling, she handed over a dollar as she watched another woman take a throw at the hunky Hispanic guy and miss. "Here you go miss." the fireman running the event said as he handed her a ball. She stepped over and taunted Sammy.
"You ready to get wet Sam?" she playfully quipped. as she gave the ball a throw.
She was way off target as it thudded harmlessly against the back pad.

"Ha ha! You missed Summer! I know how you throw so I'm not worried!"
Sam made confident faces at his neighbor and brother's girlfriend. He then turned to look at the woman throwing at Ethan.
"Now you Ethan do have to worry I think." Sam laughed heartily.

Jane had just strolled through the gates of the park, enjoying the warm sunshine and the leisurely atmosphere that came with the summer break from campus activities. Despite the much-needed respite, Jane was still preoccupied with the design assignment that was due soon after the new semester commenced. As she walked along, lost in thought, she noticed a commotion in the distance - a crowd had gathered around a huge dunk tank that had been set up in the middle of the park.
At first, Jane wasn't particularly drawn to the scene, but as she drew closer, her eyes landed on a familiar figure standing beside the dunk tank. Her heart skipped a beat as she realized it was none other than Samuel. That was Samuel Smith, wasn't he? The same Samuel Smith who had broken her best friend Sophia's heart, leaving her in tears and heartache. Jane had promised Sophia that she would give Samuel a piece of her mind if she ever crossed paths with him.
Jane's initial indifference to the dunk tank event suddenly turned into determination. She watched as the blonde woman took her turn throwing a ball at Samuel, but unfortunately, she missed the target. She would wait for another two throw from that woman before she could have her ball hit Sam. Therefore, Jane walked toward the girl in the middle wearing her workout clothes.
"Pardon me, miss," Jane said politely to woman, "I don't mean harm..." She tried to throw the ball for Melody but Jane's eyes never left Samuel's face as she reached out for the ball, her mind made up on what she was about to do.

Melody tried to be stoic when she became the target of of a woman holding a ball. She was apologizing for taking a shot at dunking her? She shrugged and tilted her head, doing her best to keep it together.
"It's ok... I know you don't. Besides, you missed." Mel replied to the woman. Now Melody didn't have her glasses on nor any contacts in, so she squinted to try and make out the face of the woman that chose her to be a target. It seemed she was more distracted by the cute blonde football player than wanting to sink her, which was a relief since her throw didn't even get close to the button.
"You going to try again?" Melody called out in an attempt to sound taunting. It wasn't that Mel wanted to get dunked. She had an inherent fear of deep water. She thought this would help with getting over her phobia, and surely she wouldn't drown in a dunk tank.

"Shut up Sammy. You're going down!" Summer glared at the boy who was always the younger brother trying to tag along when she and Scott would go off to play. He was always a bit of a big mouth and was usually irritating, but she liked Sammy in a 'friendly neighbor' sort of way.
Summer got her second ball and tossed it up a little and caught it a few times as she watched another woman come up and get a ball. She was short and petite, and Summer noted her giving Samuel side-eye as she threw a pitch at ... the name plaque said 'Melody' on tank three.
"Hi. You look like you really want to target Sam! Let me toss this one and I'll step back and let you try to sink him." Summer then gave her arm a wind and she cocked it back and let it fly toward Samuel's dunk tank...

Ethan laughed at the woman who bragged about being a softball pitcher.
"Ha ha! Not even close!" he taunted before answering Samuel. "Nah, nothing to worry about here."
Turning to eye the pretty woman with the curly hair, he smiled as he taunted, "Go ahead. Give it another try. I'll pay the dollar."
He hoped she would take another shot at him because she looked really good moving as the wound up the softball pitch.

Adjusted Rules
I tweaked the rules some to make the flow go easier with less waiting for any one character to respond. One throw, and it is assumed a dollar is paid for every throw. it can be written in to posts or not. Also, there is a 'sign-up' sheet for anyone who wants to take a seat on a dunk tank. Recommend reading the first post again.
"Yeah, dunk those guys!" Abi cheered as she clapped her hands. As yet, nobody had targeted her, and she was completely fine with the guys drawing most of the attention.
She was happiest to see the dollars coming in for the chances to try and dunk someone. She especially liked the spirit of the three women throwing balls!
Ethan seemed confident she wasn't going to knock him down, and Marionne took it as a challenge.
"I'll pay my own dollars thank you very much. I have a bunch of them, and I don't care how many it takes to knock your cocky bod into the drink." Marionne shot back at him before walking off.
She was quick to hand Red the buck to get a ball, and she returned to tank 4 and eyed Ethan before eyeing the target button. She made mental adjustments before letting another pitch fly...
*DING*
The bell rung and the seat went out from under Ethan and he plunged into the water.
"HA! she let out as she turned and pumped her fist!
"Second try! Now, come on girls! Knock that smarty pants blondie into the drink!" She gave the two women a bit of a pep talk as the brash young Sanuel needed to be doused.

Ah! Her shot was missed! As she watched her shot sail harmlessly past its target, Jane felt a bit disappointed but also relief washed over her. Although she had been eager to dunk someone in the dunk tank, she couldn't help but feel a pang of regret at the thought of Melody getting soaked because of her. Her true desire was to see Samuel drenched, and she was determined to make that happen. She was relieved that Melody had been spared, even if the woman had came prepared.
"I'm not giving up! Yes, I'll try again." she declared to Melody, her eyes fixed intently on the target as she prepared to take her second shot. But before she could launch the ball, Summer talked to her, offering her a chance to aim for Samuel instead. Her face lit up with excitement as she nodded. "Really? Can I try?" she asked enthusiastically. She watched intently as Summer took her own second shot, but it too flew wide of the mark.
Letting out a anguished cry, as if she had just lost the world cup, she exclaimed to Summer, "Ahh! So close!" Her face scrunched up in a pout, she looked like a child who had just been denied a treat. When Summer stepped back, she didn't hesitate, paying another dollar and gave it to Red and to take another shot at Samuel. "I'm sorry, miss Melody but I'll hit Samuel first." She prepared to hit. "Thank you, sis!" she exclaimed toward Marionne and Summer who supported her, her gratitude evident as she grasped the ball and drew back her arm. With a fierce determination, she launched the ball with all her might, her eyes fixed on the target as she willed it to hit its mark.
As Jane's ball soared through the air, it was clear that it was going to hit its mark. With a satisfying thud, it struck its target, and Jane's face lit up with joy. She couldn't help but jump up and down, her happiness radiating from every pore.

“HAHAHAH TAKE THAT SAMUEL SMITH!!!”

Ethan was laughing with Samuel as he razzed the two women and wasn't paying attention when Marionne let loose with another one of her softball pitches. He turned his head just as the ball hit the button and a bell went off. He barely had time to take a breath as he went under.
Sticking his head back above the surface he shook his head to get water flying from his hair and he eyes Marionne celebrating. "Well now, the lady can aim!" He gave her a smile as he climbed back up to the re-latched seat; his tank-top and board shorts now clinging to his tanned muscular body.
"I kinda needed that. It was getting warm in the sun." he added as he took a look at the little lady stepping over in front of the #2 tank.
"Dang, You can throw an accurate ball too!" he cried out as Samuel splashed and went under.

"Woo-HOO!" Abi cheered as she watched Ethan make a big splash. "Way to go!"
She barely had time to celebrate Ethan's dunking when another whack and a bell sounded dropping Samuel into the drink. Abi turned her head away as some of the water from Sam's butt-flop flew in her direction.
"Oh.. WOW! Two guys dunked! You guys realize low score wins and we girls are still at zero. Woooo!" Abi was bouncing on her seat laughing as Samuel emerged from under the surface.

Benjamin walked up from the crowd and stepped behind Jane and stuck his fingers into the back of her ribs giving her a tickle. "Hey I saw that throw from afar! You have a good toss there Jane!"
He also heard Abigail saying something about the women being ahead. He stepped over and threw down a buck and got his softball from Red and smiled as he tossed it up and caught it repeatedly. "Hmm... we have two dry ladies up there, and as much as I'd like to see Melody the genius take a bath, Abigail seems to be the resident cheerleader. Decisions decisions...
1D4 to pick - Odd for Melody; Even for Abigail
1D20 - ball throw at the choice
Though he stepped Abigail's way, Benji shifted to stand before tank 3 and let his throw go. It was close... very close, but it didn't hit the button and whacked into the backstop. "You were spared Melody!" he said with a smile.
Benji had seen Melody around campus, but they only had one class together. There were no shortage of cute Asian girls attending USC, but Benji kept himself restrained in his flirting because he still had a thing for Jane Harper, despite she having only eyes for Jared Ford. He should probably give up his pursuit of the spunky little cutie, though he did wonder if he did start flirting with Melody, would it maybe make Jane just a little bit jealous?

Sophia was walking around in a loose flowy yellow sundress and had been enjoying listening to a band at the performing arts stage.
When the set was over, she took a walk toward the cheering that she heard and smiled as she saw Benji throwing a ball. She then saw Jane celebrating and recognized Samuel splashing around!
“Hey, nice to see you guys!” Sophia said as she hip-bumped Benji and slid an arm around Jane. “I see Sam is drowning!”
Sophia laughed as she spent a dollar for a ball. She came back and said,”I think that girl Melody is looking way too comfortable up there.”
Sophia didn’t waste any time throwing the ball at tank 3.
“Darn, I missed.” She turned back and whispered in Jane’s ear… “Maybd you and I should take a seat in a tank when we get a chance?”

Sam started to laugh at Ethan going down to the softball pitcher when he suddenly went down with a splash from the well-aimed throw from Jane, and he made some faces through the little underwater window to make like he was drowning when he saw Benjiman walk up for a throw. He figured he should get himself reset so he could become a target for him, or anyone else who wanted to take a shot at him.
As he climbed out of the water and got the seat relatched, he sat back up and clapped his hands. "Lucky shot Jane! I couldn't be happier getting soaked by anyone else!" He looked over to Melody and shook his head at her luck so far, and them over to Abigail hoping someone would sink the organizer of this event!
He looked back out and saw the approach of a girl he dated for a while... Sophia... and grinned as he glanced briefly at Benji. "Alright! Let's get some ball-throwing going here!"

Monty loved these types of events, approaching the dunk tank setup with a blue raspberry shaved ice in hand that she had gotten from another booth in the fair. She watched a moment as the others pitched, deciding why not try as well? She couldn't throw for beans most days, but this was for a good cause, so even if she missed, it wasn't like it would be a waste.
"Lemme just... find it," she laughed sweetly to Red, as she was digging in the pocket of her denim shorts with one hand for a crumpled-up dollar she'd shoved in there earlier when she got change. "Aha! Here ya go!" Hmm.. The next question was... who to try to sink. The boys had both been dunked, so probably one of the ladies. She waltzed over to Abigail's tank after deliberating a moment and smiled brightly. "Heya! Ready to cool off some mayhaps?" she chirped playfully, tossing the ball a few times and catching it before taking aim and letting it sail through the air, all the while balancing that cone of shaved ice so that it didn't spill out, because priorities.
