Last year this place gave me my adorable yet definitely terrifying (theyre not) cyborg kitty, Crick! I’ve used them a few times in rp and had fun!
Blabbering aside… I wanna head back to my roots with fantasy sooo for this collaboration:
- High Fantasy
- Exotic
I’ll be lurking and will probably draw the character that y’all help me make!

How about Voodoo Vibes? Invasive entities that are either bad or good, called by ignorant humans. Those deities can take any form, reign the world or simply spread their magic.
The ‘voodoo’ side here brought in through, and African origin and it is invasive on demand, either by Hugh magical priests or initiated normal people. The advantage of voodoo, it can take any form, spirits, monsters, from gargoyle to dragon. The dark world can be very powerful if unleashed, but also the most kind and helpful.

Huh. I haven’t thought about voodoo in higher fantasy before. I mean. It makes sense. I’ll keep that on the pinboard for now Thank you
"Fantasy" and "exotic" is incredibly vague to try to work with, especially with the latter being so subjective to one's own origins.
Was there a certain flavor of "exotic" you had in mind?

Uh. Mostly just not the ‘normal’ elf n the like. So anything that you wouldn’t see in ur average YA fantasy
High fantasy and exotic makes me think lamias with vibrant scale colors. Or harpies with vibrant feathers.
Colorful, tropical harpies sound neat. Base them on things like parrots, parakeets, cockatoos, birds-of-paradise... Also can bring in neat display feathers like the cockatoo mohawk that can be lifted and lowered, the couple of extra long tail feathers that birds-of-paradise have, etc. Or do some Aussie bird stuff, since some of that is still pretty exotic to non-Aussies.
Though, display stuff like bright colors and crazy decorations in birds and reptiles (and many other animals) tend to be a male thing, with the females tending to have much more subdued colors - and for creatures like harpies and lamias, most people think of females. While this could obviously just be ignored, it could also be used in developing a character that's that much further outside expectations - like just an absolutely beautiful male harpy. Or even a trans individual who, depending on which direction their transition is, uses make-up, decorative bits, trimming, etc to better match expectations for what they identify as.

lol. Most of the Aussie birds don’t follow the ‘girls are plain’ rule. Most of the big and medium birds look the same with females either being slightly larger or smaller than the males
I do already have a bird child tho so maybe a lamia would be cool. Still open to ideas tho

How about something really out there like an insect/plant hybrid? Say early on their species fed exclusively on a particular kind of lichen and eventually rather than being absorbed it instead fused with their cells. So I suppose in reality it would be an insect/plant/fungal hybrid. Coloration could still be exotic and form patterns on various parts of the body, however, if this is supposed to be a humanoid then it might be a little odd for patterns used to attract mates to be shown in public. Unless of course this species doesn't have what we could consider to be a sense of modesty.

You say that like no one "attracts" a "mate" with their face (natural or with makeup), hair styling (particularly head and facial), general physique and musculature, etc.
True, true. That kind of thing is dependent upon what sort of society evolved alongside the character in question's species.
Welcome to the rpr roster, Kariwa!
I still need to make art for them but I took Zels advice and realised… what place had a better roster of snakes then Australia???
So what better way to make an “exotic” oc than use a snake more exotic to everyone?!
Thank you all for the ideas. I’m still adding some deets but they’re going to be a modern witch.

You say high fantasy and then make a modern witch.
Still, neat! I find myself wondering about things like what their method of "hiding in plain sight" involves (like, is there actually a disguise, are there non-venomous lamia they can easily be mistaken for, are they just so unusual that no one wonders about if they're venomous or if they're registered or not?); why venomous lamia have to be registered and what that entails (and why they avoid it; it kinda gives me X-Men mutant registration vibes right now), what "street magic" is, etc.

Well I was aiming for high fantasy and they’d still translate well into high fantasy rps. But ye. Imma expand on their main lore n stuff probably on the weekend… eventually. Ehehehe I need art for them too.
Also the registration is ‘kinda’ playing into a deleted zootopia idea.
