It happened quicker than Randle knew what to do with. On one side, he felt the warm vibrations of Adam's mature voice rumble in the air, muttering something about a theory being proven. On the other, Sali began to hand him a clue, one about a tunnel on the southeast of them. Then, all went black. ⠀⠀⠀An enormous eruption of cerulean engulfed them, ripping through their bodies, yet leaving them all untouched. Physically, that was. To Randle, all the air he'd gathered in his artificial lungs to enable him to speak and behave organically was slammed out of him as he froze in place, the unnatural coldness of his skin disappearing as he reached a state of utmost neutrality. His inside essence imploded into itself, folding and weaving into infinity, trying to escape the sudden presence of strong magicka around it. ⠀⠀⠀As the light cleared and Adam proceeded to apologize for the scare, Randle wasn't able to hear him. The silver light in his eyes had faded, his body like a statue, stuck in the same position he'd been in before the explosion. No ear that twitched at the touch of a snowflake. Cold and ultimate silence. ⠀⠀⠀Then, a gasp. ⠀⠀⠀"WHAT IN THE-" Had he actually been born to a mother of blood and flesh, Randle might've been able to compare this sensation to being reborn. But not knowing any better, it felt more like phasing from existence for a few seconds, and being violently plopped down in it again. "Good grief! And why exactly was all that necessary?!" Whatever pace he'd settled on to emulate breathing, had now been lost to time. Randle struggled to inflate and deflate the leather pouches in his chest cavity; breathing manually became a whole lot harder when the actual breathing was optional, and just an attempt at seeming more real. ⠀⠀⠀Luckily for him, Adam wouldn't hide away behind mystique, and began to explain what he'd done. Randle's suspicions about magick being commonplace around these parts were thoroughly confirmed. This had been likely one of the many spells at Adam's disposal, and according to him, a harmless one at that. None of them harbored ill will, and it also seemed to point out that this chance meeting had everything to do with irregularities in time and space, likely brought on by a powerful magick user. To the average Tellian citizen, an unthinkable situation. Randle had seen worse. ⠀⠀⠀"Hmm, ought to have your own set of mavericks if magick is so commonplace," Randle pondered, trying to distract from the fact that his entire psyche had been factory reset by the sudden blast of magick. "Any suspects in mind?" Heh, it'd be a cold day in hell before Randle's cases did not lead him into a string of other misadventures. |
Upon being blinded by a flash of light from the magic that erupted from within the ground, Kiyo had suddenly transformed back into an anthropomorphic crane and fell over.
"BUGAWK!" was all she could cry out during that moment
As the light faded and Kiyo recovered from falling down, the crane spirit suddenly had a change in personality. Apparently, it was easy enough to anger the woman, especially during her days as a first year which she would rather not remember.
"What the [expletive], by the [expletive] gods, what the [expletive] was that?!" She swore
Again, realizing too late as always, these were strangers. Her anger would always go against her natural intelligence and knowledge on sorcery. She'd rather not ruin her already awkward first impression with her usual "quirks". She quickly composed herself, clearing her throat.
"Ah, didn't really tell you people my name, huh? Awkward..." she said "I'm Kiyo, a second year at Virtu Academy. My true form is that of an anthropomorphic crane as you can see right now"
She spread her arms to show feathered wings under arm slits in her clothing not present when she took on a human guise.
"My kind's born in a land from the far eastern places and that kinda stuff. I'm actually a spirit made of magic, or so they say. Also, I was born in a kingdom a few miles away from Magicka, HillHaven they call it. It's pretty much full of advanced sorcery and artificers. Oh, and we like our paintings too!"
Then Adam mentioned that a powerful individual may be the cause of the sudden appearances of some of the people in this camp and she decided to add on that.
"I know a few great sorcerers who can call people from other worlds and timelines" Kiyo said "But of the 20 I know, only 5 remain, and they have retired. Though there IS this one guy who's pretty... wicked. He was an infamous sorcerer who nearly assassinated the King of HillHaven, could go into the details if it seems related, I guess..."

Adam tilted his head as he looked at Kiyo.
"Really?" He asked. "Thats odd. I have visited all kingdoms in the land, near and far, and have never heard once of any Virtua academy or HillHaven. The closest kingdom to Magicka is much further than what you describe Hillhaven to be."
((OOC: Hey, Revereen, please dont try to add things to my setting. Ser Blaccat's words only registered in Sali's mind as, 'If you thought bad thoughts, you'd get blown up.' That was simple enough to understand amidst the now-named-Kiyo's screeching and Randle seeming to have the wind knocked out of him. He cast a concerned look between the two of them, each for a different reason. Finally, it landed on Ser Blaccat, where he scowled.
"Are you insane? Was there not a way you could have done it that wasn't that violent?" He was unashamed of his current harshness. "Look at all this! What if it did hurt someone? I don't expect a place called Magicka to have this problem, but what if they had physical issues with magic? You speak of traveling across space. Were individuals like that not something you considered?"
With the same worried tone, but raised brows, he spoke to Randle.
"Are you okay?" His head turned aside, arms crossing again. Towards nobody in specific, with the same volume, he said, "Gods, I can't heal people I don't know the anatomies of. Hrothgar are one thing. This was just. . ."
He blew a short hiss out of his teeth. Now that that was out of his system, he continued.
"I don't want to be anyone's enemy here. We - my people - have a problem and we're trying to fix it. That's all. I- . . . thanks for not killing us."

He turned to Sali and shook his head.
"I must remind you you come from an entirely different reality than I do," he said. "Magic in one world would be different than one in another. And my magic obeys by these set of rules. Even if their weakness was magic energy itself, the universe would obey the casts demand and ensure their safety."
He gestured to Randal. "He had a negative reaction, but seems fine. See?"
"As for why I chose such a large and dramatic spell..." he began before flashing a mischievous smirk. "Because I wanted to see the looks on your faces."
He gave a short belly laugh and stood up.
"It was just a harmless prank is all, and you've left with a greater understanding of this universe and our magical arts because of it." He said. "I apologize for the scare nonetheless. But sometimes, the dramatic way is the best way to teach."
"Speaking of such mischief," he began. "I believe our current predicament is such. If the sorcerer or sorceress wanted to do us harm, they would have done so. I do know a certain sorcerer fond of such mischief, but I do not know for certain if that is who the culprit is."

Its perfectly fine for them to be in this rp if they're from another universe, as this rp was building up, but just not from the same one as Adam or Eclipse Treaty. Sali looking at Mori with a clear state of confusion questioned, "But I can say I didn't. . . time travel? If I heard that right?". She hadn't thought of it in this way previous to this discussion but seemingly, she had time travelled while exploring the Labyrinth. That bewildered her own mind at the thought. " Yes, I suppose that is so. I had been exploring a Castle in my time and one of the western wings had a corridor to which crossed into a Labyrinth of sorts. I had been following the passages a while when I came across an opening that led to a clearing of trees. I found supplies upon exiting to set up camp."
She had been through various types of areas within the labyrinth but none that had taken her back in time this far. Or even to another Kingdom. Mori was unsure of how they would react so she stopped in her tracks before heading any closer to the fire. Adam pondered the thought and then he spoke,"So, none of you have heard of me or my group then?" He said. "Not even my kingdom?" Mori shook her head in response of fear of offending him. He rose to his feet smiling and continued, "Well then, I think my thoughts on what exactly is happening must have been correct. But alas, I think we need one more test."
Unsure of what he meant by test Mori took a half step backwards wary of what would happen next. Adam slowly raised the staff that he had lit the ground with previously in the air, she was afraid about what he was going to do so she crouches down and covers her ears. he pointed the staff out directly out in front of him when the same blue light she had seen previously emitted out from the tip of it. Some sort of symbol appeared in front of where he was standing. " Oh no," Mori thought, " This can't be good." A circle formed on the ground around him. She was just beyond it so she scattered backwards in order to avoid whatever was happening.
She had no way of protecting herself, she could feel a throbbing surge of energy while lighting the area brightly, she could then see more symbols taking shape. Adam unsheathed his Blade, Mori lost her footing and fell in the snow. He pointed it towards the floor and then said, " Forgive me for this." Just as he thrust his blade into the ground,She covered her face in the crook of her coats sleeve to shield her eyes. As soon as she did she could see a brighter flash than was shining from the circle followed by an eruption and loud explosion of magical energy, She could feel the rush of wind pass by her as the surrounding area was hit by a shock wave of light. She was hit by snow and flying dirt from the explosion just feet from where she had fallen.
"Ah, just as I suspected." Adam said while putting his sword away. "Apologies for the scare."
Mori uncovered her eyes from the crook of her coats sleeve, A look of confusion set upon her face unclear as to what had brought that on. As she still tried to grasp what had happened the others present expressed their concern about the situation as well. Mori looked herself over to ensure that no harm had came to her. She did not see any blood spilling from her and nothing hurt from what she could tell. She brushed the debris and snow out of her hair and stood up. She looked over to see Randle expressing his concern, " What in the," his facil expression explained how he was feeling all to well. She couldn't help but giggle at his frustration. SAli was also expressin g his concern for their safety and his frustration with his inability to heal without knowing the anatomy of those involved. Mori could not help but stare at them in disbelief that she had been unharmed. As Adam explained that it was just a prank in order to see how we would respond and the facial reactions we would incur by such magical exposure, she was a little on guard. " What else does he have up his sleeve to entertain himself." she thought.
Green eyes narrowed at Ser Blaccat before they were turned away. The disgruntlement remained.
"With all due respect, ser. . . it was a stupid prank." The same sharp look was shot Mori's way next. "And if you keep giggling about this, it'll make you look stupid, too."
A hand raised to rub the side of his temple, while the other propped up his elbow. The frigid weather didn't help his growing headache - both the situation and the one gnawing at his skull.
"Ugh. . . okay, so, Ser Blaccat." A dip of his head towards the knight followed. It was tired. "You said you may know of someone who's responsible for this?"

One by one, his systems came back alive, and the sharp ringing in his ears melted away like the muddy snow around the campfire. To his relief, though, his sentiment of this arcane act being a bit too much was shared by the rest of the company. Sali immediately went off on Adam, scolding him for favoring the dramatics of it all over the wellbeing of the others. Even if Blaccat's spell was meant to cause no physical maim to the people it was put on, there were always unforeseeable side effects to any grand display of magick. Adam couldn't have known that Anti-Magick, as the name said, was not a fan of any sort of magick no matter what world it stemmed from. ⠀⠀⠀"Hm? Oh, all good now- appreciate ya, though," Randle answered when Sali addressed him, putting his palm to his chest. Beneath the thick wools and fabrics of his wintery attire, his restarting Hellfire gnawed at the diagonal cut that crossed his pecs. He couldn't actually feel it, but he just knew it did. "Well, if it brings ya any relief, my anatomy ain't exactly the type that anyone knows anything about. No need to sweat it." As Sali went on to express his desire to not turn this into a conflict, Randle nodded along. Adam's intentions sure had been good, but seeing the lingering tension between all these strangers, anything could be read as a possible attack. ⠀⠀⠀"Suppose ya have your answers now, I'd appreciate it if ya kept your spells away from me," he said to Adam. Sweet Goddess, now he sounded like one of those Magickal Hysteria freaks himself. "Believe it or not, there sure are better ways to teach folks, granted they're willing to learn." That was not a jab at them. Randle had been guilty of giving unwanted lectures in the past, but none of those had ever come with an additional scare and heartstopper. ⠀⠀⠀In the back, the crane woman finally introduced herself, before going on to blabber about something that made their host tilt his head in confusion. Kiyo, she called herself. A strange woman, who really made Randle believe that she hadn't met a whole lot of people outside of that Plant Society that she was a part of. Rather worrying for a world-strange woman like herself to end up in a place like this. Randle really did consider it lucky for everyone involved that no woodland robbers and brigand types had been attracted to the commotion yet. Then again, perhaps they were the lead he needed to track down the Duke. ⠀⠀⠀He decided to stay quiet as Sali repeated what he'd asked Adam previously. This was his world, and as an elite warrior, it wasn't wrong to assume that Blaccat'd know a sorcerer or two. Randle was more than happy to assist in tracking down the culprit and restoring the area to normal, but he was a stranger to his lands, and would consider the wisest option to be to acknowledge this and go along with it all. |
Adam thought for a moment and sighed.
"I suppose there were better ways," He said. "But alas, you can't blame a man for wanting to have a bit of fun, can you?"
He stroked his chin for a moment, once again in thought.
"Well, there is one rather strange sorcerer that comes to mind." He said before pausing. He remembered memories for a moment, before smiling nostalgically. "A very powerful one, a master of sorcerous arts who even taught me some of what I know... But alas, I cannot say for certain if that is who he is, and I'd prefer not to name names in accusation without knowing for certain. It's considered bad luck around here."
He took his staff back up, manifesting a spell at it's tip once again. "Allow me to see if I can sense someone. His magic would be powerful enough to hide his physical form and most forms of natural sensing, but there's always one thing that scatterbrain's rather sloppy at."
He turned to look at Randle. "You may want to stand back, magic sensitive one. Just in case."
He closed his eyes, allowing the gem of his staff to glow as he rested his forehead to it. Underneath his eyelids, a faint blue light radiated. He could see everyone surrounding him, but only through their different magical energies and non-solid forms in the universe. He looked all around himself, seeing the energy of the thousands of insects in the air or under the ground, the animals hibernating in their dens, every individual blade of grass beneath their feet, all of which seemingly so overwhelming to his mind that he could hardly make out the people around the fire, which was one of the things he couldn't see. Everything seemed to be a wind, shapeless array of colors swallowing the entire world.
However, there were colors in this array where they definitely shouldn't be. The aura of not one, but two sorcerers a small distance away in the camp. He focused on them and tilted his head. Why would there be a need for two sorcerers? Was it not who he thought it was?
He lowered his staff, before rubbing the temples of his head and groaning.
"Ah, that spell takes a toll on me." He said with a small laugh. "Hardly a few minutes and my head hurts! But alas, I think I have found the culprit."
He raises his staff once again, giving it a wave in the air as he summoned a large amount of light on the end. Then, with a wave, he shot forwards a powerful blast of magic in the direction of where he saw the auras. But right as the blast was to reach it's target, a sudden surge of purple energy appeared in a motion as if it was slapping the spell out of the air. The magical energy in the blast suddenly formed into two spectral blades, pointed directly at Adam.
Adam quickly raised his staff again as the blades were launched at him, having barely enough time to manifest a blue aura around himself, which burst around him and sent the blades flying in different directions, hitting the area around him and dissipating.
"What in the world?" Adam exclaimed in surprise.
"I suppose there were better ways," He said. "But alas, you can't blame a man for wanting to have a bit of fun, can you?"

Mori scowled in the direction of Sali after saying she would look stupid if she kept giggling. "Humor keeps the heart from being hardened, there's also no reason to be rude considering that it was not directed towards you in anyway." She did not take kindly to being called names, especially ones insulting anything about her intelligence. She watched as Randle placed his paw over his chest. He did not seem to be injured but she was concerned. He explained to Sali that his anatomy "ain't exactly the type that anyone knows anything about." She studied him further. She the turned her attention to Adam. "It's true we can't blame you for wanting have fun but can we please try to do it in a way that is not so... dangerous?" She said to Adam. She looked around at the debris that surrounded the area she had fallen. Thankful that no serious harm had come her.
" What exactly was that spell supposed to do?" she inquired. Mori knew very little about magic especially this sort. She never experienced anything like it. She watched the three coversating amongst themselves while she tried to pull herself together. She heard mention of a powerful sorcerer in the area and that's when her ears perked up more to hear the conversation. She was keeping her distance from Adam unsure of what else he was planning to do. He told Randle, "You may want to stay back, magic sensitive one." That was all the warning she needed as she went to take cover behind a tree fearful about what he may do next. She watched carefully as he lit up the end of his staff once again and held it to his fore head. His eyes lit up.
Unable to tell what he was doing she hid just beyond view of them. Before long he pulls the staff away from his forehead and rubs his temples. " Hmm," she wonders as she came out from behind the tree, " well at least there was no explosions this time. What did you see?" He explains that he may have found the culprit, as she is approaching them he lifts his staff and lets out a sudden burst of the blue light. She did not watch where the light went and crouched once more with her eyes still focused on Adam she then sees him being surrounded by the blue light before two blades were deflected and went soaring away from hims they landed they disappeared. She had never seen anything like it.
She took her chance and ran for cover near the fire. 'At least over here I will some what protected" She decided. " What is going on she shouted afraid that they may be under attack from whatever this culprit may be. She pulled the guns from her holsters and checked to see how many rounds she had in each magazine. She was missing two from each. She had extras loaded in her pack, " Wait what am I thinking. They are using magic what are these going to do for me." This was going to be a difficult fight if she had to defend herself. She put her pack down by the fire just out of her reach in case she had to reach for it. She stepped closer to where the other three were standing, at least Adam had a way to defend himself. "Is there anything I can do?" She waited to see if whoever launched the two blades would show itself.
A short sigh escaped Sali after Randle's comment. His posture didn't tense up, but there was a clear frown to his lips. However, he didn't seem to linger on that for long.
"That's not really reassuring," he said. "But it seems you're used to it. I can't spend the physical resources anyway, had I any that would help. If you're fine, I'll take it."
And thus, Ser Blaccat began what Sali assumed was a divining spell. It wasn't all that of a strange sort to him. The Sharlayans had their own goggles that dispelled glamours in their vision. Apparently, this was useful against moogles. Such only reminded Sali to never invest in these kinds of goggles then. He'd do much to never seek one out. Ever.
His steps backwards are smooth, but still deliberate. He made the assumption Ser Blaccat's next spell for caution would be cautious itself. As he watched, though they were unfamiliar magicks to him, he didn't gawk. There were constantly different applications of magic across his own star shown to him. That also came with working for a group in Old Sharlayan.
With such calmness it could be mistaken for laziness, his gaze slid over to Mori. There was a glimpse of sullenness to it. Unamused.
"Well, the heart tends to harden when things constantly try to kill you."
The Xaela's muttering was punctuated with a glance to Mori's firearms. It was far from a fond stare, but it lacked aggression. Distaste without offense taken.
He did taken offense when Ser Blaccat's spell was seemingly slapped out of the air. As a knee-jerk reaction, he didn't get his bow - he'd retrieved the shortstaff from under his quiver. Before he could even cast anything, two blades went sailing towards Ser Blaccat, whose magic erupted just in time to stop them. Using the crucial spare seconds in the conflict, he outstretched his arms, shortstaff in his left hand. The same shield from now encased each person before turning relatively invisible. Occasionally, it gave a brief glimmer, like an orange gem.
When Mori's question hit him, her predicament was met with his own confusion.
"What do you MEAN!? Shoot people!"

Mori quickly responds to Sali while taking cover, " I'm sure that a giggle won't kill you by any means, but regardless you shouldn't be rude." She holds up her guns and is met with his response, "What do you mean!? Shoot people!" She had not seen what exactly it was that had hurled the blades towards Adam. "What People??" She yells back to him, she had seemed to be the only one who resembled an actual person so she found it hard to believe that the culprit Adam had been speaking about would be anything of a resemblance to a human.
She was breathing heavily and was starting to sweat from the intensity of the situation so she removes her coat and jacket so she could move around quickly. The cold air was brisk against her skin and she could see the hair stand up slightly on her arms. She exhales before looking out towards the direction that the blades had seemed to be launched from. She still sees nothing. She concentrates and blinks a few times to phase out of the current plane she was on to see if anything appeared on a different plane.
Still nothing, but she could now see the shield around Sali glowing a faint orange color. Well at least she knew this was the plane she could observe some of the magic that was being utilized. She had learned that she could use elemental magic previously but had not learned to control it at will. It seemed to only take effect whenever it wanted. Maybe that was why the Labyrinth led her to this place so she could learn to embrace her magical abilities further. "That will have to wait til later." she thought. Guns drawn, she waits for the one who had conjured the blades to appear.
Fumizuki arrives, her tiny face visible beneath a thick winter jacket as she trudges through the snow. She notices Adam and waves. "Hewwo again, Joot's Papa. I hope I'm not interwupting anything. Papa Drael and I were just out for a walk in the snow and thought we'd stop by."

He had trusted Adam at first, happening upon him in a humble and friendly state by his campfire, yet as time passed Randle felt increasingly wary of his behavior. First and foremost, the man was a knight, a weapon of his kingdom, and no matter how noble he'd likely been raised to be, there was always an edge of darkness to those who made war and violence their calling. Another spell was imminent. Randle braced himself with a deep sigh. ⠀⠀⠀Luckily for him, whatever arcane trick Adam used to scan their surroundings for potential culprits didn't shake his inner being so much. Had Adam decided to look his way, he would've found a gaping void in Randle's silhouette where color should've been. As the magick knight concentrated on his spell, Randle looked at the others, his gaze sharpening when the vulpine woman darted away to hide out of view again. Where he came from, those of the fox-like make were considered cunning and smart, not so.. meek and deer-like in their demeanor. Then again, Randle'd learned that judging too soon was a mortal sin. Maybe some tragedy had befallen this strange addition to their little club, something that'd made her so scaredy. Goddess knew that the realm she came from could be far scarier than his own. ⠀⠀⠀"Hm, credit where credit is due, then, that was quite impress-" Right when Randle wanted to reply to Adam's remark about having found their sorcerer, two magickal blades launched towards him, bouncing off of the magickal aura the knight casted in a split second. "Oh, for the love of.." ⠀⠀⠀His ear turned towards the source of the projectiles as he broadened his stance. Randle was no fighter, and refused to be in most situations, though he wasn't quite pacifist enough to neglect self-defense. Besides, if he didn't protect his outer shell, he'd likely hurt more people than an army of bandits ever could. Meanwhile, he heard some bickering between the vulpine woman and Sali, which he decided to ignore for the time being. As much as he didn't want to admit it, the fox-lady had a point, though. Where were their enemies? Somewhat begrudgingly, Randle pulled a thick wooden rod from his coat, which he then unfolded into a crossbow. He unbuttoned his overcoat, revealing a pouch of crossbow bolts strapped to his thigh. ⠀⠀⠀Then, something else drew his attention. From behind them, a small humanoid child appeared, chattering to Adam like she'd walked in on a tea party. Randle groaned. He'd never met a kid quite so deprived of a self-preservation instinct. ⠀⠀⠀"Easy there, kiddo," he called over his shoulder, tail tight and ears fixated in the direction of the danger. "The hell's up with this forest today?!" |
Sali's feet parted, the curved toes of his gutals pushing aside snow. Such an action brought him back to his surroundings, which he relied on as a shaman. His ability was to call to the earth and wind for aid and answers. That why people sought him out to begin with. However, in this case, he had to seek out Ser Blaccat. The 'aether' of this land was far too foreign for him, far too. . . alien, as he'd heard a Westerner say before.
It was then he realized he couldn't call out to the land. He couldn't ask of it. He had to use his own magic reserves. With a sudden odd calmness, he gave a forceful sigh. A strange sense of brief mental 'respite' that many Xaela were familiar with.
"I don't think a beast is doing this!" At this point, he was less argumentative and more annoyed. This time, it didn't seem to be with Mori, given how his voice was toned down.
Until there was a child.
A stifled yelp tried to escape him as the same shield was placed around the girl - an invisible barrier that occasionally flickered a pictograph.
"Hide! Get to safety!"
These words were spoken with much more confidence, yet carried a sense of anxiety. One too familiar for him.

Watching as Randle proceeded to unfold a crossbow from his jacket and bolts from his overcoat, she seen he had brought his attention not far from where they were. He groans and says'" Easy there Kiddo..." Mori Glances around "Kiddo?" her eyes lock onto to a girl. What was a child doing in this part of the forest in the snow? Before long her father showed himself as well. A sense of relief came to her, " Well At least she isn't alone.." she says to Randle.
"Be careful we're under attack by a.. uhhh.." She trailed off remembering she has still not been able to identify who the attacker was. Sali the says, " I don't think a beast is doing this!" Sali's protective shield now surrounded the girl and he told her to hide.
She glanced around to see if the attacker had brought itself into view. Still nothing. " Do any of you see where it went?" calling out to the rest of them. She had limited ammo and did not want to shoot aimlessly into an area that she wasn't even sure if it still remained at.
She also wasn't sure if the bullets would do any damage to it. "Any ideas?" she says to Randle and Sali while still crouched down trying to hide her position from any other attacks. She then looks at Adam "Is there anyway you could conjure another spell to make them visible or detect where they are positioned for all of us?"
Adam's eyes darted all around him, sweating bullets.
What should he do? He needs to protect all these people somehow. It's what he was trained to do. But what should he do? Go on a wild goose chase after an invisible enemy and risk their lives? Or stand around and deflect sorceries until he's too tired to move?
That was until he heard a soft, familiar voice from behind him. Fumizuki.
He cursed underneath his breath and turned to face the rest of the group.
"Sali, Mori, Randle, Kiyo!" He shouted in an authoritative voice. "Defend the girl at all costs. I don't know what this enemy is, and the ones I have made would be willing to do a lot more than mere physical harm to a child. We are currently surrounded by two people. Don't fire at either, unless they reach melee range, as there is no telling what kind of tricks these foes can have, or what might happen if you miss or get distracted."
He tightened his grip on his sword and sighed.
"If any of us is to die here, let it be me. Put the others first and take no risks." He said. "I am the only one of this world here tonight, and as a knight, I am sworn to protect."
He turned away and began to scan the area for any sign of footprints or disturbances, but the dark of the night made it hard to see, even with his natural night vision. He slowly began to think over what he could do that wouldn't lock him into the vulnerability of his other spell. He's low on focus, and so it needs to be a cheap and easy option.
That's when he got an idea, his eyes widening as he did.
As quickly as he could, he raised his staff in the air, summoning a small ball of magical aura that lit up the area with a bright blue light, the snow on the floor shining from the illumination.
Slowly, he shone the light over the surrounding area, moving the orb around the area. Suddenly, he stopped, noticing an area where the snow shone incorrectly.
"That's one." He said. Then, he charged forth, blade extended before him. He summoned three magical blades around him, which shot forth towards the one he is charging at. However, a similar shield to the one that Adam summoned appeared around the invisible figure, knocking them away. Then, Adam leapt in the air and descended down onto the figure in a pounce.
... But his blade was caught.
Adam's eyes went wide as he fell to the ground. Then, slowly, mist began to fall from the invisible figure, revealing a sphynx man in red robes and golden jewelry. He looked down at Adam with hateful, half lidded eyes before smiling cruelly.
"Hello to you too, Adam Blaccat." The man said.
"You..." Adam said, his eyes widening in fear.

Fumizuki nods as she takes cover behind Drael, watching curiously as to what was going on.
