Zaye (played anonymously)

The middle of the dark woods sure was a busy place; Maxwell's home was popping with people - all of which were trying to guess his costume, if he overheard right. He stared at them in disbelief. Sure, he had a lost hiker to find, but the pedant in him couldn't help but respond, "He's...he's obviously the easter bunny." Except. Er...the Easter bunny didn't live deep down underwater. Or maybe he did. Who knows!

Zaye stiffened as the void bunnies bounced towards him. He wasn't wholly unfamiliar with the supernatural, and they LOOKED inoffensive, but something about them filled him with a subtle sense of dread. The pilot was already imagining them multiplying, knocking him over, covering him whole, and devouring him before anyone had a moment to react. Maybe they were the reason so many hikers had disappeared without a trace. Still, he was a healer, not a fighter, so all he did was take a few steps back to keep them from jumping him. The deep sea easter bunny offered their help, so he reluctantly asked, "Can they...can they help find a missing hiker?"

As for the offer of a treat, he wasn't in the mood for candy, but on the other hand, he didn't know the condition his patient would be in. Maybe they could use the sugar boost. "Oh, um. I-if it's not too much trouble. Please. Thank you."
@ Charlie @ Maxwell

He was standing snuggly behind Charlie, his arms wrapped around her waist as he rested his chin on her shoulder to peer forward and down. His raised a perfectly sculpted eyebrow at the, he perceived them to be typical oryctolagus cuniculus, though there was something off about them. "Why are they looking at me like that?" he asked Charlie as if the bunnies expected something from him.

He grinned as Charlie seemed to get the group a little closer to the answer of the fellow's costume. Maxwell provided a great clue in return and the vampire's brain started to work. He ran through his catalog of sea creatures. There were some blind bull sharks that lived the deep, but 2000 feet down was a bit deeper than they went. "Hmmmmm..." he hummed as he nuzzled Charlie's neck. "You gave the example of the angler fish and thus eliminated it as an option. Going off memory, the only other creature discovered that deep would be a squid - Giant or, conveniently for the occasion, Vampire Squid."

Gandrell eyed the bunnies and then looked back to Maxwell, "Anything that pairs with Charlie's I am all in for. These little," he kept Charlie between him and the bunnies, "...things make faux candy? What would that entail exactly."
@Gandrell & @Maxwell

Charlie couldn’t help but laugh, low and musical, at the way the bunnies had turned their collective attention on Gandrell. “I think they’re sizing you up,” she said over her shoulder, amusement softening her voice. “You might be the first guest who looks more dangerous than they do.”

She tilted her head slightly, catching Maxwell’s hint and Gandrell’s quick deduction in the same glance. “Vampire squid,” she repeated with a smirk, “now that has a certain poetry to it. Deep sea creatures with elegant menace? You’d fit right in.” Her hand drifted up, brushing along Gandrell’s arm in an absent show of affection. “Though I think these little ones know exactly what they’re doing.”

A few of the bunnies had started hopping closer, and Charlie crouched, holding out her empty hand. “Faux candy, hmm?” she mused, eyes flicking toward Maxwell with curiosity. “Something we can keep, then. Maybe a set that glows faintly, like phosphorescence under dark water?” She smiled as one of the bunnies twitched its nose at her, clearly intrigued by the suggestion.

Her gaze moved between Maxwell and Gandrell, eyes bright with playful warmth. “If we’re turning this into an art project,” she teased, “you’d better make his match mine. It’s not every day I get a souvenir from a candy lab run by void rabbits and a deep-sea mystery man.”

She reached up, brushing her thumb along Gandrell’s jaw in quiet affection before adding with a grin, “And don’t worry, love. I’ll protect you if they try to feed you sugar.”

@ Zaye & Charlie & Gandrell

Maxwell's ears twitched as he could sense that Zaye seemed to be in a rush of sorts... and also seemed anxious around the void rabbits. Not wanting his guest to be afraid, he beamed towards his antsy guest. "No, I'm not the Easter Bunny, that’d be weird — dressing up as your uncle." Maxwell said, but it was hard to tell if he was joking or being serious. "Of course though, the rabbits can make you something, anything actually. Do you have a preference? Allergies?" He began asking, before he tilted his head while crossing his muscular arms. "And don't be afraid of the little fur balls. I assure you the worst they can do is..." He trailed off. These little guys can do a lot for ones that don’t even have opposable thumbs... but given enough drive (and a bit of spite) they can do anything. Maxwell shook his head at his own thoughts. "Er- Well, they won't attack you I promise. They have no reason to." He spoke, watching as some of the bunnies bounced back to the kitchen to no doubt start on Gandrell's faux candy. The few that did stay, contrary to Maxwell's words, started to attack Zaye... with nuzzles and gentle headbutts to his legs. Maxwell chuckled as he swatted them away. "Alright you lot. Not everyone is comfortable with petting you, don't force them to if they don't want to." He said sternly, and that made the rabbit's ears bend as they looked up at Zaye and then nodded an apology before bouncing away. "I'm so sorry about that. They've been getting loved-bombed all night, forgot to tell them not every guest would wanna pet them. Let me know what kind of candy you want though, okay?" Maxwell said with a nod, before turning his attention to his other guests that seemed to still be thinking about answers of what he was supposed to be dressed as.

"They do more than make candy." He said, regarding Gandrell's last comment before smiling. "As for 'entail'... Nothing really." He paused as if realizing something, "Well... Actually, nothing that you'd have to worry about. For me though? Most likely a messy kitchen and a lot of sticky furballs to clean after Halloween." He smiled though, as if he seemed to be looking forward to such tedious tasks. "Nothing worth doing is ever easy, you know, but it’s worth it since they seem to be having the time of their lives." He turned to Charlie with a beam. "Water, huh?" He said, thinking, "That's an idea... but who knows what the little guys will cook up. Maybe they might like the idea that water is blue though." He looked down at the rabbit that was by Charlie as it looked like it was lost in deep thought

Right as he finished speaking though, a rabbit bounced up to Gandrell balancing the same little bowl on it's head it's use to dispense the other treats as Maxwell smiled. "Let's see how they did making something that isn't edible for once."

Let's see what they made Gandrell de Lioncourt!

wG8K8cB.png

"It looks like they tried replicating the pop rocks they made for Charlie, they call these "Cosmic Pop Rocks". Don't worry- they're not real of course, and you can take them out of the bag too since they're clumped together like a desk weight. Looks like they went for colors that matched hers, but used a black base instead of a deep purple one. They also clumped up all the particles together in case you want to take it out of the bag, then you won't need to worry about a thousand clusters dirtying the floor. But the star matches her heart, because you’re the star her heart always chases after and looks up to. It kind of looks like a bit of the ocean in a galactic void in a bag, probably to fit the star theme and try to keep the ocean theme too. They also made Charlie faux candy of the treat they gave her earlier so you two can pair them together wherever you see fit."

"Now... as for my costume..." Maxwell began, watching as the rabbit head butted Gandrell's leg before running away, "It's from a game the rabbits play as I've said but ah... what was the genre? Horror I believe, of course. They got into it right around the beginning of the month. But who knows. Maybe something like it exists — and we just don’t know..."
Zaye (played anonymously)

Zaye stared in disbelief. His...his uncle? The bunny-man said it so deadpan, too. Zaye opened his mouth to protest, but when he felt redness seep into his cheeks, closed it and averted his gaze to his feet instead. If he was being teased, he probably deserved it for being rude to the bunny-man's pets. "Uh, I'm um, I'm allergic to dairy," he answered meekly, somehow completely forgetting the candy was meant for someone else, "I like lemon. Or uhm, blue raspberry if you've got any? But I'm not picky."

Promises of his safety seemed inaccurate, when the void bunnies circled him a second time. This time, he tried to stay calm but on guard. "Are you certain?" Ack, one of them jumped, and.......oh. Ohhhhhh. They were kind of like cats, just chilling there rubbing his ankles. "Oh um, hello," he said to them. He glanced momentarily at Maxwell, "It's alright. They're not so bad. Um. I-I mean, they're not...I don't mean they're partially bad. I-I-I mean, they're...they're fine. GOOD, I mean they're good. For you. Or maybe great?? I don't mean to insult your-" he cut himself off, his face burning red with embarrassment.

@Zaye

Maxwell tilted his head a little as he noticed the man growing more and more embarrassed. He couldn’t help but relate — he remembered when finding the right words in a conversation had been harder than surviving the pits. Now look at him — running a candy stall near Halloween, actually enjoying the company of strangers. "It's alright, no need to stumble over yourself, slow down a little there before you choke." He soothed, but his smile was anything but judging or offended.

"Rough night?" he asked, sensing the tension — and maybe a hint of urgency — radiating from the pilot. The little void bunnies tilted their head before moving slower with their nudges and rubbings, letting out happy squeaks when they were petted. But right on time, a little void bunny carrying that signature bowl came hopping out of the kitchen to give Zaye his candy.

Let's see what they made Zaye!

ABCEmKT.png

"Oh, isn't that nice? It looks like a gummy you can pull apart and eat." Maxwell said, regarding the large translucent propeller shaped gummy. "The blue side is blue raspberry, but the darker side is more of a black tea with honeydew and lemon. The flavors don’t shout for attention — they linger. A gentle hum of flavor that stays long after it’s gone, like the low thrum of propellers fading into the clouds or someone who prefers to stay away from large crowds, no?" Maxwell regarded Zaye with a look of understanding before smiling. "Look at that... It looks big enough for two people, but still convenient enough for carrying. They enchanted it so it wouldn't get sticky in case you want to save it for later... Or for someone else."

The rabbit that served Zaye then hopped away with a happy squeak. Maxwell folded his arms together, yet his body language wasn't any less gentle. “I hope you like it — they figured someone like you could use something soft and easy on the nerves.” He said with a grin, regarding the little void bunnies that were still lingering around as they gave happy 'doot' sounds and a wiggle of their tails as if agreeing with Maxwell. "Also... No need to worry about if you hurt their little feelings. They have more fur then brains up in that little noggin' of theirs. I think the only thoughts they have are about food and pets, actually."
Chie Satonaka (played anonymously)

Chie’s brain was working overtime like, way too many theories bouncing around in there at once. Prisoner? Scientist? Bunny mutant from a horror game? Every time she thought she was getting closer, the whole thing just looped back to confusion again. The longer she stared at his costume with that big ears, the jumpsuit, the weirdly realistic fur, the more she realized something.

...Wait a sec. He totally looks like one of those creepy Easter Bunny costumes from horror flicks.

Her smile twitched. A cold little chill crawled up the back of her neck. She immediately looked away, focusing very hard on one of the lanterns instead. “Heh! okay, nope, not thinkin’ about that. Not today. Halloween’s supposed to be fun, not freak-me-out day,” she muttered, more to herself actually.

“Okay, okay! I give up!” she said. “My brain’s gonna melt if I keep guessing. You win, Mr. Bunboss!”

With that, she reached down for the adorable pumpkin-shaped candy pop the little void bunnies had made for her earlier. The scent of cinnamon and caramel instantly took over. Her whole body practically relaxed at the smell alone. Her earlier nerves were totally gone now. She leaned an elbow on the counter again, the orange fabric of her pumpkin dress crinkling softly. “Alright, Bunboss, I might not know your costume, but I do know this. Your candy’s amazing, and your helpers are the best. That’s a win in my book!”

She popped the candy back into her mouth and gave him a cheerful thumbs-up. “So yeah, I’m just gonna chill and enjoy this before my sugar rush kicks in and I start doing kung-fu moves again. Happy Halloween anyway!”

Inside, her thoughts finally quieted. Forget horror bunnies and weird oxygen tanks. This candy’s a miracle.
@Gandrell @Maxwell @Chie

Charlie laughed softly at Chie’s declaration, the sound carrying warmth that blended with the cozy glow of the cabin. “Kung-fu moves, huh? I think the bunnies would be impressed,” she teased lightly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

Her gaze returned to Maxwell, catching the glint of amusement in his eyes. “Well, Bunboss,” she said, the nickname rolling easily from her tongue, “I think you’ve managed to charm just about everyone who’s come through your door tonight. Including me.” She smiled, genuine and a little wistful. “You’ve created something rare here. Warmth in the middle of the wilds. It’s a gift.”

She crouched briefly, giving one of the nearest void bunnies a gentle scratch between its ears. “Thank you for the treat, and for the company,” she said softly. “You and your little magicians have made this Halloween sweeter than I expected.”

Straightening, she turned toward Gandrell’s side of the room, her expression softening. “I think it’s about time we let you get back to your craft before these little ones decide to unionize,” she joked lightly, eyes glinting with humor.

To Maxwell, she gave a small, graceful nod. “We’ll treasure our souvenirs, and the memory. Happy Halloween, Maxwell.”

She reached for Gandrell’s hand, her touch quiet but certain. “Come on, love,” she murmured. “Let’s give the next travelers their turn at the magic.”

As they stepped toward the door, one of the void bunnies hopped after them, leaving a faint trail of sparkle across the floorboards. Charlie glanced back, her smile soft. “Keep the light burning,” she said, voice warm and melodic. “It suits you.”

Then, with a final wave, she slipped into the silver-lit fog beyond the threshold, the sound of her laughter fading gently into the night.

(Thank you for an adorable and interesting experience! Also, thank you so much for the lovely personal “treat.”)
Zaye (played anonymously)

@Maxwell

Zaye's face grew redder despite Maxwell's kind assurance that he could take his time. There was something even more embarrassing about someone else knowing you're embarrassed that just compounds the matter. "R-rough isn't quite the word, but..." He became intimately familiar with every crease of his shoes. "It's been busy."

Before he could say more, one of the bunnies came hopping over with a bowl. It was...beautiful. To him, it looked like an edible fallen star that, while differently-colored from his hair, matched the two-toned aesthetic. The explanation made him smile, albeit in his own muted way. They'd barely spoken, and yet this bunny man had him pegged. "I...um...t-thank you. It's lovely. And sounds delicious." He carefully picked it up, giving the void bunny an appreciative nod. "You've made a terrific candy, Mr. Bunny," he called after it. Even though it wasn't sticky, he patted himself down in search of something to wrap it in to save it for later. There were a few empty zipblock bags in one of his pockets, perfect for the task.

FINALLY, he crouched down to pet the void bunnies. "Thank you, little ones. And Happy Halloween to you all. I should get back to my search." Hopefully he'd find the hiker shortly and could share the goodies with them. He stood up again, bowed his head lightly, turned on his heels, and started down the trail - but right as he was about to go out of earshot, he called back, "Sea slug - the sea bunny!"
@ Charlie @ Maxwell

Gandrell's attention was drawn downward by the little fuzzball burying against his leg. He cocked his head and wondered if these things really were from another sun's orbit as living creatures usually gave him a large birth. He reached down, leaning over slightly, to collect the complimentary set of faux candy they had made for the couple. His was a blue star and hers looked just like the candy that had been made for her. They fit together like two puzzle pieces meant to lock into place and hold.

He grinned and showed Charlie as he straightened. His eyes shifted to Maxwell. "If your costume is based off a game that is unfamiliar to me and only might exist in the world I am familiar with. Well, I gave you my best guess." He shrugged, and took Charlie's hand when she reached for his.

Her farewell was far more poetic and genuine than he could have expressed. It was one of the things he loved the most about her - she was kindness personified. "Happy Halloween to you and your own," He offered a regal bow of his head to Maxwell and the little bunny things. Giving Charlie's hand a little squeeze they headed down the lantern lit path with his future as sure and secure as their joined hands.

@ Chie & Charlie & Zaye & Gandrell

Maxwell beamed at his guests as they gave their last guesses of his costume — or simply gave up. He wasn’t one to judge, and he waved to them all as they were on their way out. First was Chie. “Alright, be safe. I’m glad you liked them so much! The rabbits had a very fun time drawing the face on that one, and your mood really seemed to energize them.” He smiled as she bounced off. “Happy Halloween!” he called after her, hoping she heard him before darting away. That kid was fast.

Next were Charlie and Gandrell. Maxwell felt relieved hearing that Gandrell was satisfied with his faux candy, and that Charlie enjoyed her rock pops. “I’m very glad to hear that… and I think the little guys are a little too tired to unionize today, but maybe one day,” he joked with a laugh, and turned to Gandrell, “It’s alright that you couldn’t guess it, but I’m glad you like your ‘candy.’ Take care of each other now, Happy Halloween.” He spoke to them, waving them goodbye as they both left together.

Finally, Zaye almost slipped out unnoticed, but Maxwell caught him while he was still in earshot. “I’m glad you like it — the little guys are glad too. Don’t get lost, alright? Happy Halloween!” He said while waving Zaye off, but paused when he called him a sea slug. Now that would be a good costume for next year… no fake tail or ears required, and the idea made Maxwell chuckle.

As the cabin quieted, Maxwell let out a tired but content sigh. The little void bunnies huddled up among the sugar-coated trays, dusted in glittering powder, sugar, and globs of food coloring and squeaked to each other probably trying to figure out where to start cleaning up. Lanterns dimmed, and a faint scent of cooking sugar and fruit lingered in the air. He leaned on the wall near the kitchen, looking at the aftermath of the night: a kitchen coated in sugar and chaos, but filled with happy void bunnies clambering around to clean the place.

“Alright, you lot… let’s start cleaning up,” he said with a grin at the bunnies. Honestly, he wasn’t expecting that many guests, and he couldn’t believe he actually enjoyed himself. Maybe he would do this again next Halloween... But for now he had to worry about cleaning up a kitchen... and 12 little void bunnies.

OOC: Thank you all so much for participating! I had a really lovely time with everyone and i'm so glad you all loved your treats, while this is technically my "wrap up" post, I think it'll be more fitting to make a proper epilogue before I close this roleplay up on the 31st even if I know it isn't needed :)

The End To The Night

The night concluded, and everything had been swept, cleaned, and scrubbed, now smelling like a mix of citrus soap and sugar. Maxwell first tended to the little guys—they were all so happy from such an exciting night, but all that candy-making and petting had exhausted them. He gave them a proper warm bubble bath, combing the sugar and other debris from their fur. Then they huddled together on his bed in a big pile of fluff, fast asleep after their big day. Maxwell decided they earned it, so he cleaned the kitchen himself. By the end, he was sticky and smelled like sugar and soap, but he was also happy thinking about the smiles on people’s faces and how much he had actually enjoyed himself. To be honest, he didn’t think anyone would show up, and despite himself, he was glad more people had come than he ever would have expected. Realizing how late it was, he decided to finish up and head to bed himself—he had a Halloween party to catch tomorrow, and he knew the rabbits would need help putting on their costumes.

OOC (one last message from Paint/Seb):

Hello everyone! I decided to make an epilogue as a closing post (despite technically already posting one lol), Since I wanted to thank every single one of you who participated in my forum or who DM'd me to say how much you loved my forum/pixel art! It truly meant the world to me. I wasn’t expecting so many lovely people to actively engage, and I’m so happy to be proven wrong—I was worried the event would feel bland or dry.

I’m glad everyone loved their pixel candy too. I’ll admit, I’m still very new to pixel art and thought this event would be the perfect time to practice simple candy pictures. Originally, I wasn’t going to open a forum for the event at all, but I’m glad I did.

With that said, I’m sorry if it sometimes took me a while to respond. I usually tried to reply at least once a day, but near the end, I caught a bad fever and am still recovering, and real-life stuff came up as well. Thank you all so much for your patience! It was very fun seeing everyone’s responses and how everyone interacted with Maxwell and his little void bunnies.

Originally, I planned to draw a full illustration of Maxwell in his costume with his void bunnies, but as I mentioned, I’m still a little sick and will be very busy tomorrow, which is also why I'm sadly closing this forum short on the 31st since I know by the time I'll have free time tomorrow it'' be well past 12:00 lol. So, to get this closing statement out on time, I’ll have to skip the doodle sadly. However, I do want to share what Maxwell’s costume is!

Maxwell is dressed as an EXR-P from Pressure. Originally, he was going to be a D-Class from SCP, but my little cousin saw me starting the doodle for him in the first post and got excited, asking, “Is that Sebastian Solace from Pressure???” So, to make him happy, I drew Maxwell in an EXR-P uniform. I do really love Pressure and the SCP games :>.

qWmb6xz.png

Pressure is a game on Roblox that handles mature subjects like The Foundation. EXR-P’s are:

nrsDOdA.png

"EXR-P’s are inmates who were originally in prison before Urbanshade recruited them to retrieve a crystal. Most EXR-P’s accepted the job, unaware of what awaited them in the Hadal Blacksite. Previously, they acted as glorified lab rats. Death row prisoners were often taken by Urbanshade to be turned into "expendables" for research, experiments, or tasks that often resulted in death. The Hadal Blacksite is a fictional, highly classified research facility built by the Urbanshade. Located in the isolated Let-Vand Zone (2000 feet underwater), its purpose is to research and contain anomalies and experiment on local fauna. A major containment breach caused by the prisoner Sebastian Solace left the facility abandoned and filled with monsters. EXR-P’s are tasked with locating "The Crystal" in the middle of the Hadal Blacksite and are promised freedom and the removal of their criminal record. The main monsters are angler variants, but special enemy variants appear the deeper you go. EXR-P’s are usually equipped with diving gear, since some sectors of the blacksite are flooded."

That’s it in a nutshell!

Once again, thank you so much to everyone who participated. I got to meet and interact with so many lovely people. I hope you all have a wonderful Halloween, and I’m so glad everyone enjoyed their pixel candy! <3

[A big thank you to you for hosting the event, and for the adorable candy art! I'll cherish mine always. :) It was a pretty fun little adventure with adorable void bunnies that I, OOC, would've scooped up and hugged the ever loving heck out of. Hopefully you'll be on the mend soon! Don't push yourself too hard.

Happy Halloween!]
