Ooh, is this a Stardew Valley chicken?

It looks like one to me but admittedly I have barely played any Stardew Valley.

It is 100% the stardew valley logo chicken, its facing the same way and has the same sprite almost exactly!

Definitely the stardew valley chicken! looked up a pic and the pixels are identical

Water based character names were already guessed though. I only knew of two

This is my favorite game!

The line saying "They encourage..." made me first think of the Junimos, but I already tried that.
Then I had the same thought as EndlessSpiral and tried Willy, Elliot, Linus, Leo

Some general thoughts I had:

• fishing is one of the five skills you can level up in and perfect at some point
• "respect for the water" sounds like it's refering to a moral value and makes me think of Linus again who has a quest for the farmer where you clean the water by fishing trash items
• fishing is a mini game that has a variety different mechanics counting into it: equipment (different rods, baits, tackles), luck (daily luck + buffs from food/rings), skill level in xp, location & time (ocean, river, lake, caves, ...)
• aside from the fish you catch with the mini game, there's always a chance to instantly catch the following items: algae (green & white), seaweed, jelly (river, sea, cave based on location), joja cola (labeled "trash" btw) and actual trash like driftwood, broken glasses, soggy newspaper

Congrats on solving this symbol! The answer was "Tex & Gordy".

For those of you wondering how this answer could be arrived at, here's a quick explanation.

When you find enough of the missing library books in Stardew valley, you can read acts 1 & 2 of "The Fisherman." This play stars Tex and Gordy, whose conversations give useful tips about how to catch legendary fish. But there is also an unexpected twist as the finale, where we discover that Gordy is actually Tex's long lost father.
