I have some extra regular rock pets that I would like to donate. I have named 1 of each kind and put them into the hotel - these I want to save.
If I go to donate the rocks to a group, will the ones in the hotel show up in the list too? How will I be able to tell? I don't want to accidentally give away my named babies 🥲

It looks like they can still be donated, even if they're in the hotel. I think your best bet would be to put the ones you want to keep on display, as displayed items can't be given away. Hopefully it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to identify and display the right ones...

I don't think that putting them in the hotel does anything to protect them. But as mentioned, anything you put on display gets removed from your regular inventory, so you won't be able to give it away.
And I wanted to see if there was a way to tell which was which outside of the Walragotchi - and there is! (Sort of.)
The pets I have on display don't show names, so I took 2 Flat Pet Rocks off display. Their names also didn't show up in my regular inventory. However, when your pet is in your inventory, your two options will be "Play With" and "Display." If you click "Play With," it will take you to that specific pet in the Walragotchi. If it takes you to the page to assign a name and pronouns, then that's a pet you have not yet named!
