So I need some help with some brainstorming for a character I would love to make. I got the name, and plenty of ref pics and a general Idea of the kind of character she will be, but for the life of me, I cant. I am just struggling!
The whole theme is old western with a touch of low-fantasy/magic. The loose idea I have for Zowie Bell is that she is something old, immortal. Maybe cursed. Im not exactly sure. But this whole vauge as heck idea came to mind when I cam across this plant called; Rose of Jericho. The resurrection plant that can come back to life with some water.
My problem, the whole thing thats making me struggle is how do I incorporate the Rose of Jericho with my old west cowgirl Zowie Bell. Wonder if someone can help me

tl;dr - Did someone make her go into dormancy; does someone seek to awaken her/whatever is within her; and is she aware of any of all this, and to what degree?
Alright because I'm a nerd, I presume you're referring to Selaginella lepidophylla, yes?
I found it pretty interesting how, if the roots survive, the plant can stay dormant for years; and if necessary, detach entirely from the roots to be carried by the wind to a new location where they may rehydrate and take root again?! Make the dormancy, quiet survival, and awakening part of her.
Maybe your girl doesn't even know What She Is; maybe she doesn't even remember anything other than her current state (dormancy), or only partially. Maybe she is a wanderer, or longs to be, because her "roots" (whatever that means - family, duty, economic situation) are not serving her and she feels that she is missing something. And what would it take for her to "resurrect"? Is it good if she is resurrected?
The plant was reportedly used as a lucky charm; do the people around her know What She Is? Do they keep this knowledge from her because they don't want her to leave? Or alternatively, does someone want to spirit her away and resurrect her for their own purposes, whether benign or malicious?
Alternatively, there's also Anastatica hierochuntica, which comes with its own set of interesting properties we can mine for inspiration. And since you are (probably) not going for a faithful plant-sona, I say mix and match.
This one is from the Brassicaceae family, which puts it in the company of several hardy, survivalist and widely distributed plants. Maybe there are more beings/people like Zowie out there? Does she know? Does anyone know? This one is also a tumbleweed, so you again have the wandering, rootless (pun intended) themes. However, it is not a true resurrection plant; you could play with themes of her dormancy having scarred or damaged her some way.
Hope this was useful!

This does give me plenty to chew on for now, Bruinen. Thank you. Much of this I've not yet thought of myself and had no idea where to start other than "old west, low fantasy cowgirl + somehow Rose of Jericho".
You could look into the "weird West" genre if you haven't already for further inspiration? Regardless I'm glad to have been of help ♪(´▽`) I hope to see what you end up with eventually!
Just to pile on. Everything mentioned above was incredibly interesting and caused me to learn a few things.
Plot ideas:
Since the "Rose of Jericho" is primarily located in the dessert of US and Mexico - going with the wild west theme - I would think she would be found/uncovered/resurrected a few hundred feet down at the bottom of a mine during the gold rush era. When a worker struck a gold sem they got overly excited and kicked over some water/whiskey/who knows but that could rehydrate YC and have her climbing out of a mine in the middle of the night. Possibly even getting shot at as the owner of that mine would be pretty protective seeing as news of gold spreads like wild fire.
How she got down there...well...old magic, punishment for something she doesn't remember, kidnapped and they thought she was dead and left her to time.
I hope this helped. Happy creating.
PS - I do enjoy brainstorming and creating. If you would like to throw ideas around, DM me.

I didn’t want to write anything first, sorry RustyRaddish, I don’t have the right ideas.
But here just above, you have the right RP’er to help you out. Take the chance offered to you, take it, you won’t regret 😉
Alright, You guys are awesome! Thank you so much for the ideas and suggestions. Things I've not yet thought of. And Eros_Calls just made me realize I also need to look into the old west genre so I have a better idea, I not once thought of the gold rush era. Once again, thank you guys, huge help!
