Felicia and Miss Higgins had split up to cover more ground. Shelley was interviewing bystanders along the route while Felicia had gone to the front of the parade to get pictures of the color guard, grand marshall, city council and other important individuals at the front of the parade before it got underway.
She spied Marie and her father Adam. Felicia graduated from Teal Cove High the year before and was now an intern at the local paper. As a former cheerleader, she knew Marie well. Marie was now the team captain and had been a junior on the squad the year before when she was a senior.
"Not so fast," A reporter called out. "Can I get one, too?"
Adam and Marie held their pose an extra minute. They gave a wave of acknowledgement, but there was no time to talk. Marie had to get back to the cheer squad and Adam had to take his place.
Felicia hurried to get pictures of the city council float, the mayor, the pageant winner from the county fair and the other people of note near the front.

Gary found Mr. Cheese's float. It was a simple, small two wheel trailer decorated with orange, brown and yellow balloons and crepe paper. A hastily constructed wood triangle painted yellow with black circles for holes represented a block of cheese.
The Ford pickup was also decorated in a simliar matter so it matched the trailer with some handmade posterboard signs on both doors. The owner of the store, who was a local businessman and owned several other businesses including a coin-op laundrymat was driving.
"Will you be okay back here," Gary asked Chuck E.
The rat gave 2 thumbs up.
"Just hold on with one hand and wave with the other," Gary instructed. Trevor should be fine with Gary having to ride on the trailer. He could jump out of the truck if needed. They'd be going very slowly.
Once Trevor was in place in the mascot costume, Gary climbed in the passenger seat of the truck. The parade would be moving at any moment now, but it would take several minutes before they got moving since they were futher back.
