By the time the sun began to sink toward the horizon, the Summer Splash Festival was winding down. The music softened, families drifted toward the exits with tired children and prizes in hand, and vendors slowly packed away booths that had bustled with activity all afternoon. At the medical tent, Aaron and his partner finally had a chance to catch their breath. Thankfully, the day's emergencies had been few and far between. Lia had recovered well and headed off to retrieve her replacement inhaler, Charlie had disappeared back into the crowd with her frozen lemonade and easy smile, Miretta had finally found her shark face paint after all, and even the mysterious stranger had wandered off with his questions answered. It had been one of those rare shifts where the best outcome was that most people never needed them.

Aaron stretched as he helped pack away the remaining supplies, allowing himself one last glance across the festival grounds. Laughter still echoed here and there as volunteers folded tables and children begged for one last ride before heading home. He smiled to himself, grateful the day had ended with more memories than mishaps. Locking up the medical tent, he slung his bag over his shoulder and headed toward the festival, finally off the clock and free to enjoy what little remained of the evening. Maybe there was still time to catch some music, maybe even run into a familiar face before the lights went out. Either way, it had been a good day, and that was more than enough.
