The soirée is located next to a lake. It is surrounded by meadows as well as a mountain range. There is one way in and therefore, one way out. At least by vehicle. To those who wish to come on foot, there are numerous trails lit up by the soft glow of mushrooms. Mysteriously, they only seem to come out at this time of year before going dormant til next summer. It's easy to get lost if one wanders off the trails. Yet there's a strange force that gently nudges lost hikers back where they need or want to be. Visitors looking for respite will find there is proper lodging, too.
Oddly enough, there's no rent in order to use them, either. Some are log cabins—others are made of cobblestone. Each one has just enough room for two or three visitors. And for those who're alone, there's something for them, too. By the lake, visitors will find something tranquil and calmer than a boisterous beach party. Fairy lights are strung overhead. There are a few fire pits for marshmallows, stories, quiet music or just the enjoyment of another's company. There is plenty of food. BBQ ribs, hamburgers, grilled chicken and plenty of side dishes.
Fruit-themed drinks can be found, though none of them are alcoholic. (Sorry folks!) The atmosphere is meant to be calm and relaxing. But that doesn't mean there can't be little games here or there! It may be nighttime, but the lake nearby provides additional enjoyment for those looking to swim away the day's stress! (Just... You know... Don't go skinny dipping! Ok? Ok. Right then.) Flyers about the event have mysteriously appeared in random mailboxes or between the pages of favorite books. However you come across one such, take a gander if you're feeling up to it.
Enjoy~

Liora quietly looked around at the setup. Since Hannah was sick and couldn't host this year's soirée, Liora had stepped in as a favor to a friend. Sure, her schedule was hectic and busy. But a short vacation wouldn't hurt. Besides, she wouldn't be here alone! At least not for long, that is. The woman couldn't cook as well as her friend, so she had catering come and do that instead. It might not be as good as Hannah's cooking, but it would do at the very least. Hopefully... Liora checked her phone. A text message to a certain someone had been sent only ten minutes ago.
The message had read simply as... 'Everything is ready at the lake. Meet up soon?' The device was put back into her pocket without anything further sent. Maybe it was nerves being this far away from the ocean's current. She didn't want to worry anyone, so kept it to herself. For the moment. There was a lake right there. It wasn't the same, but it was something. Her dark eyes caught the soft lights from overhead and turned toward the black surface of the lake in silent contemplation. A quick dip honestly sounded good right about then.
Yet for now, she willed herself to stay put in order to greet guests and answer possible questions as a good hostess. With each new arrival that slowly wandered in, Liora found that she glanced up to see if it was Kai or not. Honestly, it was hope at seeing his smiling face. The familiar tone of his voice would be enough to ease some of the nerves that clenched in her chest. Still, she smiled politely and conversed only when she had to. This part was habit though! She was used to computer screens, sterile labs, data inputs... A faint sigh left her.
There was a splash nearby as a few visitors dove in from the small wooden pier. The sound was familiar. The location was not. Darkness had settled around the setting like a quiet hush, but she didn't mind it as much as being cut off from the ocean. An inhale of breath was taken in slowly to steady her nerves. Then a cup of punch was picked up. This one had strawberries, cherries and blueberries in it. A recipe Hannah had recommended. Well, Liora had asked catering if they made something similar and, well, this would have to do.
Maybe the visitors wouldn't mind? She could only hope. A small sip was taken from it as flavors caused her tongue to tingle! The sensation wasn't unpleasant, but it did manage to tickle her ears! A slight smile quirked at the edges of her lips as a free hand went up to rub one ear, then the other. The sensation was brief but not unwelcome. If anything, it amused her slightly. Liora slowly made her way closer to the edge of the lake until the dark waters wrapped around her ankles like a promise. Her steps slowed as her mind was allowed to wander. Still, she did glance up every time a new visitor seemed to appear at the edge of the clearing...
