A nuclear war raged acros the earth, destroying anything in its path, and when it ended...there were toxic, poisonous fumes that killed out the rest of the human race.
Although there were people that knew this was coming...
Huge underground bases were built by those who wanted to stay alive, storages of food and water and huge machines that would drain the sea and filter it of any oil spillage or toxicity were made, fridges to store the food huger than the tallest buildings in the world.
There weren't many people left...but those that were still alive knew what they were doing...
Kayla ran down one of the tunnels, her breath Shakey, something had disrupted the underground tunnel just below her and she had to find out what, because no one was down there at the time.
She stopped, silence filled the air. She stared down at the tripwire that would activate the cans, the tripwire had been cut, but not through the string...a perfect cut had been made through the aluminium...and there was only one creature that could do that.
" oh no..."
A loud scream cut through the darkness and she began to run away from the tunnel, she saw a figure standing in the darkness up ahead of her and she yelled for them to run.

A young boy stood in the middle of the tunnel, staring at glowing red eyes in the darkness. In truth, the boy should have been scared, but nothing could top the nightmare he already has every night. A steady dripping sounded against the stone floors, a sweet coppery smell filling the air at the same time.
Nevertheless, the boy stood in the tunnel staring at the eyes, the eyes that reminded him so much of his nightmares. Sucking in a deep breath, the boy screamed. It wasn't a manly scream either, it was the scream of pure terror as the memories caught up to him and enveloped him in terror.
Backing up through his haze of terror, he heard a girl behind him telling him to run. But run where? Everyone knew that these creatures never traveled alone, they always had a partner lurking nearby to alert each other of dangers, and humans. Even if he did run, these creatures were insanely fast. Fast and smart, one of the most deadly combinations a monster can be.

She heard a claw scrape across the floor. Close. Too close.
She let out a yell and turned around, taking out her gun and firing at the thing, it's huge hulking figure two times the size of her own.
She merely grazed its ear before it let out a loud yelp which echoed off the tunnel walls.
This was not a cry of pin, it was an alarm that they needed backup. And it wasn't long before anothe creature jumped out of the dark it's eyes blazing with pure fury.
Kayla swore and backed up, bumping into something, no someone.
She looked down to see the boy she had earlier told to run standing behind her, she then looked up again to see the creatures advancing, quickly.
They had to move before...before...
Tears stung Layla's eyes. She had seen what they were capable of.
Grabbing the boys hand, she moved towards stable 5, the closest stable nearby where they would be safe.

The boys eyes got wider when the girl fired her gun at the thing, causing it to call for back ups. The other monster could be heard stalking behind the first, his eyes full of pure fury. It was a scary feeling when you are seconds away from possible death, your life flashing before your eyes.
The boy was startled when the girl took his hand and started running, causing him to trip and almost fall if she hadn't been holding his hand. If he had fallen.... well lets not go there.... Continueing to follow the girl, the boy realized they were headed towards stable 5, one of the more secured stables because it was nearest the surface. Trying to speed up a little so he wasn't slowing the girl down, he bit his lip while trying to think of a distraction. There are some support beams ahead, as well as.... The boy's face lit up as he remembered that there were traps all around stable 5, traps that even the smartest monster creature would have trouble with.
"Hey!" He said just loud enough for the girl to hear. "Take the path with the traps!" The boy smiled and ran a little faster, just enough so he was in line with the girl that had saved him.

Tripping over something rather large and solid, the boy finally found the switch a couple meters from the door, an odd place to put a light switch. Flipping the switch on, he looked at what he had tripped over and nearly threw up.
On the ground was an older man that was widely known around the camp, well known by everyone except the boy. The boy had been a recent addition to the crew, calling for sanctuary while being chased by some slave owners that used the slaves to bait the monsters into traps.
The man's throat was ripped open and dried blood coated the floor in a thin layer under him, like someone else had been here to try to clean up the mess. By the looks of it, this man had been dead several hours.
"Um....." The boy stuttered, trying to get the attention of the girl while wrinkling his nose in disgust. How did I not smell that stench until now....

Kayla turned around to the sound of the boy's voice, and gasped, sinking down to the ground when she saw what had caught his attention - one of the elders - the people who had originally put together this underground organisation - lying in the floor, dead, a large pool of dark dried blood surrounding the body, the eyes open but lifeless.
She covered her mouth, tears pricking her eyes, who had done this? No...more to the point why??
Who in all their right mind would do something like this?
She bent down to observe the body, trying not to retch.
The throat was torn open; a large mutilated hole looking like it had almost torn the skin for the purpose of trying to get something in the inside, and left a mess like an unfilled hole in the ground.
The dirt- or blood might I say leaked across the corpse, and onto the ground where the puddle had probably earlier began.
The creatures couldn't have done this... They had sharp serrated claws that cut through flesh, or anything like butter.
This had been done by something else...or someone else...
Someone who might have been slightly insane perhaps...
Kayla had been warned by the elders of the horrors that lay ahead in the tunnels, such horrors that could make a grown adult scream.
One of them being the survivors of the nuclear home war, whom had sealed themselfs underground and slowly become crazy, and then somehow escaped the toxic fumes by burrowing into the tunnels below.
Many of them had died, but by the looks of things this could have been a death from one of those... Insane people...

She turned back to the boy and undid her backpack, peering inside.
They had just enough food to get to another stable nearby, perhaps not as long seeing as there were now two of them...
These packs where normally only made for one person after all.

It looked down seeing a boy and girl on the floor, next to a dead guy who was there when he arrived. It looked down at them curiously. He didn't understand what they were saying, well most of what they were saying.
it soon heard the sounds of the beasts outside echoing through out the tunnels. Another hiss escaped Char's mouth as he looked at the door. It had encountered beasts like this, but never actually fought them. Char simply shot out a few streams of fire and the things backed off. It looked back down at the humans in the stable. Humans were smart right? Maybe they knew how to fight these things.
Eventually Char decided to crawl down to the floor. He lowered himself down, landing on his feet. He looked at the two giving off a light chirp to get their attention.

Oop: well, he could be an experiment as well, or a mutant from the surface. Now he looks like a six foot tall bipedal bright orange gecko. He has a long prehensile tail, red crab-like armor plating on his fore arms and back with tanning white chest plate, again similar to a crabs underside. His eyes are bright green and give off a feint glow. He is also more or less a toddler, only being two years old, despite his size.
Char tilted his head, not sure what to do. He didn't recognize human weaponrh, and thus only thought the pistol was some kind of toy. He let out a few more chirps and coos, with some saliva dripping out onto the floor.

Char blinked before sitting down on the floor. He could understand the word name. "Chaaaaaaaaaaaaar"Char replied, thinking Kata's question was aimed at him.
The boy watched the exchange between the..... creature.... and the girl, watching her hand go to the gun on her hip and release it when she decided that the creature wasn't a threat. He just looked like an overgrown and monstrous toddler.
Turning back to the girl, he heard just barely heard her question through all the thoughts in his head. "I'm David." He smiled brightly despite their current predicament. He could still hear the monsters lurking outside, looking for a way around the traps. "What's yours." David asked, smiling when Char spoke.

" Dont know where you came from big guy, but looks like your with us for now... " she said sighing.

Char still sat on the floor, glancing between this 'Kayla' and 'David'. The sudden roar of one of the beasts caught Char's attention. He hissed, shifting to his hands feet, arching his back up in the air and opening is mouth as wide as he could. The site of a giant bright orange lizard with red spikey armor plating might've been more intimidating is its teeth weren't so laughably small. Char let out anotherh iss, glaring at the door.
Kayla raised an eyebrow at the creatures cat like behaviour.
She turned to David and grinned " looks like we have our selfs a guard dog "
Her voice was monotone, as she tried not to sound saracastic towards the creature, as it may be a useful ally.
She turned back to the creature and shrugged " only kidding, but..." She paused and shook her head, something nagging at the back of her mind. She pushed it away and pulled her gun back out.
" I don't have that much ammunition left, even for this I don't have any other weapons. They should have more at another stable, but I doubt what I have now will be enough to get past those" she paused " things... "
