"Yeah we do."Parrot whimpered, keeping himself against the back of the elevator. Out of the glass window in front of them the two could see the entire city. The elevator came t oa stop with the elevator 'dinging' as the door opened. Parrot didn't wait to go through it.
'That was quick,' Amaya noticed Parrot hadn't answered about if there was any way to help his condition. She assumed not. Amaya stepped through the elevator doors and waited for Parrot to lead the way.
Parrot lead Amaya through the top floor of the Tower, and quickly came to Mr. Dill's office. The door to it was large and had a golden plaque that said 'Mr. Dill's Office'. He knocked on the door. "Come in."A voiced called. It was deep and had a thick British accent to it. Parrot pushed the door open and walked in. The office was surprisingly large. At the wall directly across from the two was a desk, which was being occupied by a man in a suit. He was clearly not human, especially once one noticed the two eyes he had on the left side of his face. His head was unnusually shaped, vaguely similar to a lava lamp. He had a large monocle on the right half of his face. His eyes were st in an indentation on the left side of his face. He had a gentlemanly mustache, and his mouth resembled that of a puppet or a nut cracker. Unlike Parrot he had plenty of color on his body. His scin was a dark foresty green. His eyes glowed yellow. His mustache was black, as was his tie. Most of his suit was a dark grey pin-striped color, with his under shirt being white. "Whose your friend?"The man asked, looking at Amaya.
"My name's Amaya," she made a slight bow out of respect. "I made it into your world accidentally, and I'm a bit lost..." Amaya wondered that they'd understand cross-dimensional travelling, but if she didn't try, there was sure to be no way home. Besides, she'd talked her way out of worse before. How hard could it be?
Mr. Dill blinked. "And? Am I supposed to care or something?"He asked. "Uh, well she's not from here like she just said. Maybe you know of a way to get her back?"Parrot asked. "Oh please. I don't have time to send her back. I'm running an entire Zone, remember?"Mr. Dill asked.
Her hand clenched at his comment, 'This is why I hate authority, never helpful or responsible for their position!' Amaya took a step forward, her tone changed to a flat and demanding one, "Look, Mr. 'Dill'," she wasn't afraid to take a sarcastic twinge at his name, "If I can't find a way home and my clan does find their way here," Amaya took another couple steps forward, placing herself nearly at the edge of his desk, "they may be too ill-informed to think that I've been captured. Or worse." She looked him dead in the eye, her own had turned a slightly paler color, "And I'd really like to avoid senseless violence on their part."
"Again, am I supposed to care? Your problem, not mine."Mr. Dill said. "So long as I'm making money, that's all I care about."Mr. Dill added. "But what if her friends do show up and think we hurt her? The other Elsen here might get hurt."Parrot said. Mr. Dill sighed. "I'd suggest going to Zone 2. There's a library there that might have information that could point you in the direction of what ever you're looking for. Alternatively you could ask Japhet for assistance. Though the big feathered Mongrel is hiding in a cat's body so you'll have to find that probably."Mr. Dill said.
This man didn't even care for his workers. It was pathetic in the extreme. Still, he was not the first case Amaya had come across. "Tch, was that so hard?" She made the comment halfway under her breath, but still loud enough to be heard. "So is there anything else we need here?" She pointed her question to Parrot more so, she felt a little bad for concerning him and the other, um, Elsen, in it. She'd have to make sure to relieve him of his worries later. More than that though, Amaya couldn't help feeling that she wouldn't mind about whatever would happen to Mr. Dill in that event.
"Uh... not really."Parrot said. "Could I lead her to Zone 2?"Parrot asked. "I mean, she's new here and probably doesn't know how to get to Zone 2."Parrot said. "No. I need you here."Mr. Dill said. "But... What if I could find someone to take over my job until I get back?"Parrot suggested. "Do you know a single Elsen who could handle your job as well as you do?"Mr. Dill asked. Parrot shook his head. "Maybe it doesn't have to be an Elsen?"Parrot offered. Mr. Dill groaned. "Just go. I can handle the Zone on my own."Mr. Dill said. "Thanks Mr. Dill!"Parrot said, before motioning for Amaya to follow him.
Amaya chuckled inwardly at their interaction and gladly followed Parrot out of the office, "Thanks for doing that," she said. "I really could use whatever help you can spare," she dug around in her pockets, "and I hate to take you from your work, so here." Amaya offered some rounded, flat metal objects to Parrot. They were composed of a metal that was not too common even in her world, "I don't want you to like, lose money or anything," she offered as explanation and a sort of apology for her inconvenience.
"What's this?"Parrot asked. He examined them etal objects he was handed, not sure what they were.
"Money?" Her face fell at his confusion, "You do get paid for your work, right?"
"Yes but not in metal."Parrot said. "We get paid in credits."Parrot added.
"So there's nothing you can use this for?" She had no idea what credits were, but it didn't really matter now. "By the way, which direction is Zone 2?"
"It's before Zone 3, which is before the Fabled Zone."Parrot said.
Amaya blinked at him, "Okay, how do we get there?"
"Well, we can get to Zone 3 by boat."Parrot said. "But that'll cost some credits."Parrot said.
"Oh, umm..." Amaya scratched her head, "And I don't suppose you have a currency exchange?" She was becoming frustrated by the situation now. Amaya covered her left eye with her hand and when she removed it, the color had changed again to a full yellow color with red pupil. She looked around, trying to detect if the item she needed was nearby at all.
"I don't think so..."Parrot said. "Uh... I think I should have enough to pay for your ticket."Parrot said before an idea popped up in his head. "I got an idea!"Parrot said.
Oop: Are you okay with Fourth wall breaking by chance?
Oop: Are you okay with Fourth wall breaking by chance?
Amaya's cheeks flushed a little, "Thanks," the word could barely be heard under her breath. She hoped she wouldn't be here long enough to actually have to start working, but then, it may be an interesting break from her normal routine. "What's that?"
Oop: To a degree, yes
