As the sun rose higher and higher into the sky the market became more and more crowded. People shoved against each other as vendors yelled about their merchandise. Odd creatures scurried in the slightly shadowed allies and people with strange features hurried within the crowd. Bells and music rang through the dusty air as food sizzled on grills and open fires. It was hot but that was nothing new to the southern city. Bordered by a maze of a canyon to the west and a large desert to the south heat was nothing new.

Within a small run down building on the outskirts of the city a girl paced. Her silver hair cascaded down her back in a waterfall of curls as books whizzed by in the air. Some floating opened to random pages while others zipped this way and that putting themselves away. A small table was in the corner with an empty bowl on it. Books and papers littered its surface. The room seemed to be filled with books, overflowing every bookshelf, crowding every corner. A stack of leather bound notebooks were neatly piled under the table, their pages yellow and worn. What she was researching could have her enslaved or worse.

With a furious sigh the books clattered to the ground as she flopped onto a small cot in the corner. The only thing left floating was a black stone with glowing blue veins. In another world it would have been compared to a radio but in the world of Nemin it was a simple scryer. Able to transmit voices and portray faces enabling long distance communication. The stone was simply floating around no sound coming from it. The girl laid on the bed, crimson eyes closed as she breathed deeply. She was getting no where with her search and she was getting desperate. The demon handlers were already looking for her and she would be unable to hide for much longer. With a huff she flicked her wrist and the books that had clattered to the floor began to put themselves away. She was running out of time. Her father was gone and her mother far in the north. She was running out of time. Sharp fangs bite into her lower lip as she squeezed her eyes shut, she needed a way out but the canyon was a death sentence and the desert just as bad. Her obsidian horns glimmered in the low light contrasting against her silver hair. She needed something, anything or the demon handlers would come for her.
The canyon, scorched with sand and stone from the unforgiving sun, was suddenly filled with a loud sharp BANG!, and the clinking of a smoldering bullet casing hit the dusty floor. The target followed after, with a thud.

Of course, no one was there to hear it. The sound of the gunshot lingered as it echoed through the canyon.

The out-of-place man, clad in strange and unknown metal plating, sighed and lowered the noisemaker. This had been the ninth creature to attack him, and even though they bear sharp teeth and rock-like scales on its body, it's meat was nourishment. And plenty of it.

The man sat down, careful of the large asymmetrical wings that hung on his shoulders. One made of feather, the other identical to the clothing he wore.

A small box consisting of metal, plastic and a small flashing light was held up to his mouth, and he spoke aloud,

"Charlie Forward 63, It's been eight days since I walked through that damned portal and I'm already wanting out. These... dog-like monsters keep trying to hurt me. Made of a biological rock or something. Maybe a parasite. Either way, one nearly took my arm off. Can't say they aren't completely useless, they taste pretty good. I was hungry, alright?

But about intelligent life? Negative, so far. I sent out a radio distress signal but only Creator knows if they speak English. See you tomorrow..."

He clicks the box and lowers it from his face. The sun on the horizion was starting to fully rise over the canyon wall, and he sighed.

"Well, 'bout fifteen minutes 'till the sandstorm blows over. Better amplify the distress signal one more time." As he said this, he stood from his rock for a seat,

"Never thought I'd end up dying like this. Let's hope the signal reaches someone."

Ari sighed and rolled onto her stomach, she was running out of hope. No one knew how to navigate the canyons and the desert was a never ending sea of sand. "well it seems i'm stuck" Ari whispered to herself as she buried her face into her pillow. She had tried to contact her father on the scryer but ever try had failed, every desperate plea left unanswered. Soon she would be nothing more than a slave to some high class merchant. A snarl of disgust rumbled and tore from her throat. Demons were not animals! Not worthless workers who could be thrown away. Ari was sick of it as many others were but at this point it was either run or fight and fighting would surely get her killed.

The scryer suddenly let out a low screech that caused Ari to jump and yelp. She had been so lost in thought she had forgotten about the scryer. Rushing over to the floating stone she took it gently in her hands and listened. At first she couldn't hear anything but slowly a voice came through the stone, an odd language Ari never heard of before.

"Hello? Can you he-... *clears throat* Charlie Forward 63. My name is Sergeant Skylight, and if you are hearing this then I require your assistance. My location is two klicks due northwest of the radio amplifier. Look for the smoke. Message repeats in 3. *click*"...

"Hello? Can you he-... *clears throat* Charlie Forward..."

Ari let out a low hiss as the message repeated. She couldn't understand what was being said and she had half a mind to ignore it except....on this frequency it had to be coming from the abandoned amplifier in the canyon. A large blue stone that was in the middle of the canyon. That had to mean someone with language was in the canyon! the idea excited Ari, maybe they knew how to navigate the canyon.

She let the hope drop, it was probably just some old transmission, nothing to be taken seriously enough to warrant investigation. Ari sighed and flopped onto her bed again, her eyes drifted closed as she attempted to doze off.

"OPEN UP THIS IS THE CITY GUARD!!" The bang and shout roused her from her nap. Crimson eyes fluttering open she looked around frantically. It couldn't have been ten minutes since she fell asleep. "OPEN UP NOW OR WE WILL KNOCK THE DOOR DOWN!!" Ari jolted into action, grabbing her pre made bag, her scryer and the top notebook on the pile. Scurrying to the window she flung it open and jumped just as the door busted in with a firey explosion.

Ari landed gracefully on her feet and broke into a dead sprint, the scryer floating next to her, keeping her pace. The strange message began again as she gritted her teeth. "I guess its the canyons then." she muttered as she ran heading right out of the city and into the canyons. The sun was high in the sky as she ran into the the large labyrinth, hot on her back.

Ari didn't stop running until her legs ached and her lungs burned, until the sun was drowned and the stars gleamed. Nemin's three glowing moons had started to rise in the sky when she finally stopped and collapsed, lungs gasping. Her scryer had stopped transmitting long ago. Properly lost Ari's only hope was the owner of the strange voice. Rubbing her hands together she breathed into them to keep them warm. Her eyes flashed in the darkness, glowing like an animals. The Raths would be upon her soon, large rock like wolf things. Ari huffed and pushed herself to her feet she needed to keep walking or she would be a sitting duck for the monsters in the canyon.
"Day nine. Still noone. Thought as much. I swear if I ever get back to Craitos I'm having serious words with my superior. That's if the time here is still the same back there. It might as well have been fifty years back then. Damn feels like it too.

I think I'm going a little bit crazy. As I was climbing the canyon wall to amplify the signal, I saw a... shadow. It was in the distance and moving strangly. Not like the rock-dogs. Speaking of rock-dogs, their meat is starting to get bland. Cooked rock-dog meat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I need fruit or something."

The metal man walked along the canyon floor, two identical noisemakers in his hands. After a short trek, he stopped outside a small "rock-dog" nest. The noisemakers were raised and pointed at a sleeping dog outside his pack.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Three rapid noises started to echo the canyon once again, quickly followed by the plinkling of the expense. The sleeping rock-dog kept sleeping, only this time with three gaping wounds into his unarmoured sides. Blood started to seep into the stone perch he was atop, confirming the kill. Only, this time was not the same as the last.

Unaware of how large the really nest was, the man walked forwards to his prize, but stopped dead in his tracks halfway. A rock-dog stood before him, very different to the ones he had slain before. It was taller than him, much taller than him, with alot more stone plates covering the hounds body. The alpha of this pack, with a stare that could kill a normal man. But this man wasn't normal.

"Oh shi-AHHH!" The man turned abrubtly and sprinted down from where he came. As he went, he tossed his noisemakers to his sides, and they fizzled into the air with a blue glow, and seemingly disappeared. As he ran for his life, with the enraged alpha monster behind him, he pushed his wings against the ground and jumped, landing on a platform no normal man could jump to.

"Haha! Flight-power prevails agai-" The rock-dog stared hin dead in the eye, as he climbed up the face of the rock to meet him.

"AAHHHH!" His screams of fear loudly echoes through the tight canyons.

The night had been underwhelmingly uneventful in Ari's eyes. The canyons were supposed to be teeming with dangers but all she encountered was a wrath that gave her a wide breath. She had enough water to last her for another two days or so and hunting within the canyon would be easy. The only problem she was really having was finding her way and keeping track of where she was. She was positive that she had been walking in circles, she must of been. With out the stars to guide her at night she was truly and utterly lost. So she was simply sitting in the shade of a rock and relaxing, trying to keep calm. Dying in the canyon was much better than being forced into slavery, at least thats what she kept telling herself.

Three loud bangs that sounded like explosions woke her from her half sleep. Crimson eyes flying open she gracefully jumped to her feet, grabbing her back pack and swinging it on. Hopefully whatever was making those sounds was something human in nature, although she would rather not run into a human. Still, off she went sprinting like an angel was at her heels. A scream echoed in the air, giving her another burst of energy. If only Morgren was here, her hell hound that had disappeared with her father.

Flying around a corner she skidded to a quick halt. There was a wrath den in front of her with a dead wrath outside of it. The stench almost made her throw up as she gagged and plugged her nose. Wraths always had smelly holes from all the rotting flesh. The alpha couldn't of been far, they rarely left the den.

Scanning the brown walls of the cliff she quickly found the alpha and oh was it a big one. Picking up her pace she ran towards the alpha. Others would have ran the opposite direction, in fact that was the smart thing to do.

The alpha continued its climb after what appeared to be a demon. He had wings and some strange material on him. Why didn't he just fly away or use magic? Every demon was born with magic and could control it from a young age.

"Use magic or fly you idiot!" Ari snarled up at him, her sharp fangs glinting. Although all he would hear is a strange language slightly sounding like Russian. As she approached the rock wall she skidded to a halt and took aim. The air crackled around her with pure, unfiltered power as her crimson eyes began to faintly glow. Muttering a soft word she flung a hand towards the alpha as lightning shot from her fingertips, striking her target. Although she had no clue how effective it would be against an alpha wrath.
The Wrath snarled as it was enveloped in bright lighting. No visible damage was sustained to the large creature, only making it more angry than it already was. It focused on the source of the annoyance, what appears to be a figure shrouded in an electrical aura.

It roared at the figure and slowly climbed down from the canyon wall it was perched on. Angel stood still scared of the great beast, but turned to his savior. Suddenly, a thought came to him, "Wait a sec, I'm a soldier. Why in the Creator's name am I not smiting this dog to the ground?!"

He outstreched his wings and pushed them forwards, sending him back and around closer and on the same level to the robed figure.

"Alright, chucklenuts," Blue light surrounded his belt and he pulled out two fresh noisemakers, one in each of his metal hands and aiming them both at the beast's stoney head "Time to die"

Six rapid shots were fired, alternating from each of the machines in his hand. All six landed in the armour of the beast, but it was obvious the lightning was more effective than his pistol bullets.

"Dammit!" He let go of the noisemakers and as they fell to the floor, they once again fizzled into a blue light before they made contact. "Think, think. Maybe..." He reached for his belt and pulled out a small canister with a free handle and a spike on one end.

"My last stick 'nade." He turned to his savior and then back at the closing in alpha rock-dog. "Uh... will this work?" He held out the canister to show her, hoping for an answer.

Ari snarled as her lightning attack seemingly bounced off the warg's hide. Her crimson eyes grew wider as the alpha turned its attention to her. Things weren't looking good it seemed but there was nothing she could do about it now. Baring her fangs she let out another lightning strike at the warg as the figure attacked as well.

His words were foreign to her and made no sense as he jumped down from his perch. Relief had flooded through her when she realized he wouldn't abandon her. Facing down an alpha warg was dangerous in a group, almost lethal by ones self. The stick looked strange and she had no clue what it actually did. With a shrug in his direction she gave a small nod. Whatever it was it wouldn't hurt to try.
"Uh, hello?! Big monster trying to-" He expected a verbal answer, but cut his sentence short as he realized how close the Wrath was approaching, now beginning to rear back to pounce on the two.

"Nevermind!" His wings, with a quick flourish, extended out and pushed him upwards, causing him to jump higher that the beast itself. He swang his entire body to throw the canister at the creature, spike first, and it landed embedded into the rock-armour on its face.

At first, nothing happened, and the creature looked at him with almost confusion, as if a creature like that could express feelings.

The man landed back down next to his mysterious savior and was spinning a small metal ring on his index finger, a smirk on his face.

A split-second later, the Wrath's face was engulfed in an large explosion that originated from the small canister. Of course, smoke also came with the explosion so the fate of the creature was unknown untill the smoke cleared away.

Ari watched in fascination as he jumped into the sky and threw the odd object at the wrath. Finally he was using magic and getting serious! Her attention went back to the wrath as her eyes narrowed, waiting for the attack. At first nothing happened and she was just as confused as the wrath. He called that magic? She glanced over at him in confusion at the ring he was spinning. "Roggen?" she asked which translated into "What?" but the language barrier inhibited them.

Ari was startled by the sudden explosion and let out a growl, what sort of demon was this? With his odd wing and arm he was unlike any she had seen. Coughing as the smoke began to clear she gave the wrath a glance. All that was left of it was a pile of rocking flesh. Ari's brows furrowed together in an awed confusion. All that from one small object? He must be a high class demon, maybe on her father's level.

She watched him with guarded curiosity. She had just saved him but who knows, he could attack. She knew one spell about languages but she had no clue how to communicate what she was going to do. So in stead she slowly approached, hands raised in an innocent fashion. Extending one hand slowly to his temple she smiled reassuringly. Her crimson eyes bright as they began to glow.
The man stared over at the smoldering carcass of the monster, and exclaimed with joy, "Hahaha! ThorniCo sure do make the best, don't they?"

He elbowed the woman beside him in a joking manner. "Okay, okay. Ahem, my nam-"

He was cut short as the woman started to lift her hands to his face. The woman looked strange to him. Demon in nature, clearly, like the ones back on his homeplanet, but this demon was different. For one, she had horns. Craitos Demons didn't.

However, he did not react as her fingers touched the side of his head. He knew that she wouldn't hurt him, because if she was going to, she would of done it already. Besides, too late now.

As her eyes began to emanate a red glow, he lifted his hand in protest before-

"AHH!" What seemed like electrical currents shot through his brain, and sensations of pain ran around his body. He tried to drop to his knees, but her grasp held him in place. Shortly after, his own eyes began to glow a heavenly white-gold.

Once the Demon's touch ended, he fell to the floor in an immediate instance, coughing and writhing. In an instance, he lifted his head to stare at her with wide, brown eyea.

"What the hell did you do?!" His voice cracked slightly halfway through, but it was obvious he neither knew or cared. He slid backward on the floor away from her, dragging a limp left arm behind him.

"My apologies." She said sincerely as he scooted away from her. She had heard that it was a painful process to force a language into someone's head. But he could fully understand her, like she was speaking English. "I performed a simple language spell to let you understand me." She glanced at the dead wrath but made no move. She had betrayed some of his trust she supposed, but she didn't wish him any ill will.

"Are you from the northern country? My name is Ari Lissa Abbadon, daughter of Abbadon King of the void, but you can just call me Ari." She smiled, her sharp fangs clearly visible as she gave him a small bow. Electrical energy still crackled in the air as her eyes began to return to their normal, non-glowing crimson. The energy would soon disperse and was currently relatively harmless. "If you don't mind me asking why are you in the canyon?" Her question was guarded. It was obvious he was the odd voice she heard before she had to flee her home. He was the reason she braved the canyon so many had died even, human and demon alike.
He looked at her with confusion. Half the things she said didn't make sense.

"Spell? What the hell are you on about?" He picked himself up, with no help from his arm. "You nearly killed me! Worse yet, my augments are out of tune! Do you know how long it takes to tune just one of these things? Pretty freaking long! A whole two months armless..."

He continued to spout angered jargon at her, most of which she didn't understand. After a short time, he eventually stops and sighs, "Right. Sorry. Ramble over. Lets get formalities over.."

He straightens his back and preforms a salute with his live hand. Semi-loudly, he spouted "Sargent Angel Skylight, Charlie Division of the ThorniCo Private Regiment, Designate Inf- Manned Explorer of Project Star Horizon." He drops the salute and bows to her, "Plesure to make your aquaintance."

It was obvious that this introduction was practiced often. He rose from his position and relaxed. "Sorry about that. Regualtion." He reaches up to his metal arm and moves some peices around. As he does this, he says, "Now, as you were saying, The reason I'm in this canyon formatiom is a guess as good as the other guy. I have no bloody clue." His arm then popped off his body and he looks at the joint. "I was hoping for someone for rescue but that..." He pointed at the now cooling beast with the dislocated arm. "Thing got to me first. Might I ask where I am?"
