The world lines. That's what they were called by others. The world lines knew the past, present and future and were never involved in the petty affairs of other planets. They knew not to feel bad for the ones who would die and the ones who have already done so. They were conditioned from the very beginning of their becoming to be the best citizen. To respect and care for only themselves and take care of their jobs and families. But she wasn't the one not to care. Sure there were others before who tried but failed, but Abagail was determined to be away from her world in hopes of saving someone, something, anything.

The opportunity came in a small package, no less than 7 billion people on the planet call Earth. It wasn't soon after that Abagail started gathering information in secret on the planet, it's past, it's present and it's future. She would hide books in her room and lie to the people around her, knowing she would be gone before they knew it. She was reading about the future when something seemed terrible wrong. There was a dark coming for the human race, two secrets that will plunge the world into turmoil and lose. One, a world where Hitler would reign again. He has been encased in a cryogenic lab for years now and the US has special plans for him. The second secret is to make the people into the greatest strength of all of time by placing a single chip into their blood stream that makes them obey every word.... Abagail only knew she would need to save these poor desperate people and started to plan.

Abagail wasn't the one to miss any detail, setting out to look for an Andorian, which is a type of ship the world lines developed to skip into time. Soon, it had been weeks since she started planning and she found her opening. And then everything happened all of a sudden. She had packed, had her most prized possessions and walked out of her house, silently saying goodbye to everyone she knew. It was sad, but an adventure to save a different race was at hand.

---2044; Earth---

There was a crash, a horrible crash with an unidentifiable woman on the inside. It was terrifying in the last few moments Abagail had no idea what to do. She thought she had it all planned out. Her belongings would be transferred from her broken ship and put into safe keeping. She would be prodded and looked at. She looked just as human as everyone else, but on the inside was very different. Unfortunately for Abagail, when she woke up from the crash, she wasn't alone.
He was young for an intern; the youngest they'd allowed into the program because of his willingness, his eagerness to do great things. He penchant for experimenting had been a great boon to him as well; they wanted someone who wouldn't run away from some questionable methods. And so long as they kept practicing on animals, Eric Lansing, a bachelor straight out of college, did not have a problem with it.

His experimenting was slow and cautious. His supervisor ordering everything, and making him overly meticulous. One wrong drop of solution, one too many vibrations and the entire callibration would be thrown off--as would the overall effect of the experiment.

So Eric had decided to take a break from the lab. He'd gone to search out his supervisor and came up short. Well, sort of. He hadn't found his supervisor, but he had found something better. Something not quite...normal.

A young woman, a girl really, lay asleep or unconscious before him on a table. He'd poked her once or twice before realizing it was probably the latter, and he had drawn closer, intrigued. Was this what his supervisor was working on when Eric was locked up in the lab? No wonder his supervisor was always in such a grumpy mood when he had to leave.

"What are you?" he asked, peering closely at her. If it helped any, he hadn't expected her to wake up at the exact moment he was leaning over her to gaze into her face.

One of Abigails' eyes slid open, showing an eye that looked opposite of the human race. More like a lizard's eye. A blue vibrant lizard's eye. She squinted up at the voice, trying to determine her surroundings. It was a cold place of setting and she could see the human standing in front of her. Abigail didn't know where she was but she could guess. It was a terrible idea to think of things at such times besides trying to survive. She would be dissected soon, and she needed to escape.

A gurgle came out of her mouth, trying to speak. She knew how to say things, but they weren't coming out right, like she was a foreigner. Maybe she shouldn't have came and save this race if they were going to treat her like this.

Abigail tried to sit up, but realized there were restraints on her hands and feet and across her chest. She was wearing different clothing than when she came here. A white gown with a tie she could feel at the back of her neck. Her red hair flowed off the side of the metal table, with a white light hanging above her. Abigail looked around the room looking for her things, with no avail. Her face twisted into a sneer and then she looked up at the man and realized he was watching her intently and she was suddenly scared of what was to come about. A little peep escaped and she slowly said her first human words.

"Who are... are you...?" She whispered with a hoarse voice. "What are you... going to do to me...?"
Eric pulled back, surprised by her reptilian eye. And furthermore by her apparent distress. He glanced nervously over his shoulder and put a finger to his lips.

"Shhh, I'm not supposed to be in here; I'm an intern." He took in her restraints and the gown and then frowned as he looked at the various instruments littered around the room. Whatever had called his supervisor away, he didn't know for how long he'd be gone.

"Look, um-"

He froze when he heard the door open and then the sound of footsteps. "Crap, my supervisor is here. Don't say anything." He dove beneath the table she lay on, hoping his supervisor didn't notice an extra shadow.

The strong deep voice coming from the man startled her a little more. She's never heard anything more than her own shy, small voice's. "I-" She didn't say more as the man put his finger's to his lips, quieting her. Abigail knew nothing about being an 'intern' entailed, but knew enough to know it was something underneath the big dogs, where she needed to be.

Voices were coming from the hall now, and the door was open and let in a bright white light, One man as the leader followed by three men with devices connected to their wrists, taking notes of something the leader was saying. Abigail quickly slowed her breathing down, closed her eye and tried to calm down. She was freaking out on the inside, sending distress signals to her home planet. It was a special thing that family members were connected by on their home planet, as there were not many wars any more, so their bodies hardly used it any more. Babies used it when they were young, always fearing anything and everything. But as you grew older, you grew out of the touch.

Her mouth twitched a little as she listened into the conversation, hearing little else besides the man beneath the table.

"Now, you will need to bring in a couple of things for me. For one, we need uhh, what was it called?" The leader asked. One of the little guys peeped up, "A pinpoint laser that uses graphic oxide and slices the skin without any hesitation; a GO tool?"

"Yes, yes. That. We need to get this alien open and ready for the boss to see her innards." He cackled a little, a looked eerily at the girl.
Well, this had been a remarkably bad plan. He hadn't expected there to be extra people involved; scientists at that. And bent on actually cutting into flesh. His skin crawled at the idea; and it didn't sound like they'd be introducing any kind of sedative or pain killer when they did it. Why should they, though? She was just an organism.

And he wondered why he thought of her as something more. He had no problem cutting up animals--though granted they were dead by the time he got them. If they were living, would he be able to do it? He thought he might get sick.

He searched for a device to use as a weapon and came up empty. Darn. He needed something good. Something like that tool they were discussing. Yeah. He wondered what the possibility of them dropping it would be. Maybe if he stuck his leg out at the right time, he could coordinate it. It was worth a try. Otherwise he'd be the one getting skewered.

He kissed his job as an intern goodbye as he waited for the other man to get the GO tool.

Abigail tried to slow her breathing. It was becoming fast again, at the thought of the scientists cutting her open while alive. She was thinking maybe she could do a little... wiggling, and get out of the predicament. It was a special ability, the only one she has had. You see, every World Line has at least one ability. And with this, Abigail was like a jellyfish, if she was comparing herself to the human race. It was something in her DNA that made her special. She was always able to do it, it just took a lot of strength and effort that she didn't have at the moment, but the least she could do was try.

The men were still laughing as they walked out of the room. The head scientist stated they needed a guard in front of the door and would be back within minutes. The door was still open, but at least they were gone. Abigail could feel her skin become warmer as she tried wiggling her hands out of the release. She had forgotten about the man beneath the table, the warnings of leaving her planet, the gruesome things that were about to become. All she did was try to consentrait on getting out of there. It was building up inside of her, but then it deflated, like a flat tire.

Her face wrinkled into a dissatisfied look and groaned. This was not the plan.
Eric saw and felt the table shuddering above him. Clearly the person/alien/thing above him was trying to work its way out, and they had only a few minutes to escape. Automatically his hands went to his pockets, patting himself down.

He grinned when he reached into his labcoat pockets. From the left one, he extracted a box-cutter; from the right, a squirming rodent that just fit into his hand. A long cord like tail wrapped around his wrist as the rat struggled for balance, but that wasn't the strangest part.

The rat glowed. It was faint and perhaps hard to see at the moment, but it was still there.

"Alright, Tungsten, work those teeth of yours." Eric whispered as he rolled out from under the table and set the rat to work on one of the straps holding the alien down.

He began to work on cutting the other strap with his knife. "We'll have you out of this in no time," he said to the alien, working as fast as he could.

She had no time to lose as she looked upon the man and the glowing rat. It was an odd thing to see, perhaps it was a rat that was genetically enhanced? She thought she knew everything about this planet, but apparently not. "Thank you so much... Why are you helping me? You don't even know me..." Abigail asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.

Abigail watched as the man set the rat upon the cold metal table, watching as the rat nibbled heartily on the straps that were holding her down. She held her breath and let out a huge sigh as one hand suddenly became free.

Abigail smiled at the man who was cutting the strap on her right arm, hoping the danger of being captured would pass any minute.

There wouldn't be anything she could do until her hands were free. Abigail lost track of how long it had been since the men had left the room but as soon as the other hand was let go, she could hear them coming again. Slower than before, but they sounded like they were at the end of the hall.

Abigail wiggled downward, getting her upper body free. Her tiny hearts were pumping as much as the World Lines blood as they could. She was beginning to have hope again. She motioned for the man to start cutting the strap to cut her feet, and in doing so, she was finally free. She hopped off the table and looked back at the man. Wasn't this world suppose to be full of evil?

"Come on, we have to get out of here. They're coming back!" You could hear their voices now, closer than before. Sinister laughter erupted from the hall and it made a tingling feeling go down Abigail's spine. It made her feel weak to be under the thumb of humans.

She didn't know her way around this place, but she knew she needed to get her personal items back, even if that meant getting hurt. "Do you know your way around here?" She asked quickly and quietly. Abigail held out her hand and looked down at her feet, hoping he'd take it. "Perhaps you can show me to my stuff?" She was scared, and needed help.
Eric looked at Tungsten as though the rat might have answers. The glowing rodent chattered briefly, before climbing onto Eric's sleeve and then down to the floor where he scrambled across the room into another, adjoining room.

"I guess go that way," Eric said, gently reaching for her hand to help her off the table. He paused to rub her wrist where the strap had been, and then pulled her after him.

The next room had a locker-like feel to it, though instead of benches it had more tables. Supplies were spread on such tables, and judging by Tungsten's efforts to scramble up a table, Eric surmised they were her things. "Your things?" Eric inquired, glancing at the young female alien.

Abigail looked about the room. Her things were scattered and looked almost unusable but she didn't want the men to get a hold of her things.

The room was cold, but the adrenaline that was pumping through her veins were keeping her warm. The rat was trying to scurry up to her things, but she didn't mind, she was only looking for one thing, her notes. Everything else could stay.

Frantically, she searched about the room. There were maybe 12 tables in all, rows about rows with her things upon them. Her hearts picked up a beat when she finally laid her eyes upon it. It had a silvery sort of cover, when you looked at it but when looking away, it had sort of a wavy feel; like the book was alive.

Abigail sighed with relief, holding it close to her chest. But suddenly, there was a crash in the other room and her eyes went wide with fear. You could hear shouting, and then they were off again. "Show us the way out of here. I can explain when we are safe." She was as cryptic as ever, but now was not the time to explain.
Tungsten scurried down the table he had perched upon and headed away from the noise. Tucked into a corner of the room, a small emergency exit door had been located--obviously as an afterthought during building when an inspector noticed.

"This way," Eric said, waiting until they were altogether before opening the emergency exit. Either luck was with them or the scientists they were escaping from had much poorer luck, because the emergency exit door never sounded an audible alarm. "Go around the corner to the left, stay next to the building. The cameras won't catch us if we hug the building."

He was rather of the same mind that Abigail was of: explanations could wait until they were in a less precarious situation. "I'm parked on the other side of this building, in a black car. Can't miss it." He explained, scooping up Tungsten as he ran after Abigail.
