Diana had just gotten back from her fathers funeral...she was now an orphan. She had to pack up and get ready to head to the orphanage. She walked up to the attic where her father and her spent many hours together tinkering and practicing her ballet moves. She then saw something she had never noticed before. A hole in the wall. It had just appeared. She looked in the hole nd saw some sunlight but..it was cloudy and raining out. Suddenly the wall opened up and she walked into a hidden world.
Magic is very common. Magic-tech, grand floating islands, forests that sing, magical creatures may be an every-day occurrence.
Industrial revolution
More combat than not. The setting may be at war, and the characters will likely get involved whether or not they seek it out.
