The first crack of lightning rent the air and within seconds the rolling boom of the thunder reverberated overhead. And the rain continued as it fell as if buckets of water from the gods were just being thrown down, cascading like a waterfall from the heavens. It pounded on the roofs as if it were demanding entrance. The female found herself entering a home she did not know, yet she stayed with the thought that this was her home. She was exhausted to a point and simply wanted to sleep. She maintained that this was her apartment, with her mind distorting what she would see ahead. Which was a mere hallway, a dull..dark hallway? The frigid air penetrated her skin, chilling her blood, sinking into the marrow of her bones like wet concrete.
The noise of the creaking floor beneath her was heard ever so slightly as she stepped down the hallway. It was only later when she entered what appeared to be a living room; it was dimly lit with the vintage wall sconces that hung on the mute colored walls like earrings. Thick velvet curtains hid the long windows across the walls, just giving a shy peak of the woods beyond. As if everything froze, and time halted itself, her head inclined to the left. There on her shoulder was the formation of a hand resting. An audible gasp was let out as she spun around quickly, her eyes concentrating on what was behind her...
