Through your travels you stumble upon a person laying on the path with what looks to be remnants of a powerful battle went on and the person looks injured so you take them to a nearby town so you get the person treated, when they come to later you asked what happened to them and they say they cant remember anything like all their memories were wiped only thing they know is their name and what they are, and now you have this person as a travel compainion and you guys have a deal once you help recover all the memories of the person's past you can go your separate ways afterwards

Further future, perhaps visit mars or upload your brain
Distant war may be part of the setting, but any scenes that happen to involve combat will likely be summarized, not played out in detail.
Romance is desired but not required, and will balance evenly with other plot.
