She listened to him speak about her new firearm, which was exciting her a lot. She was ready to take it and examine the weapon. The weapon, itself, looked more reliable than her own laser pistol she kept on herself at all times. She heard him finish explaining about the weapon made her want it more even with the flaws. She wanted to now examine the weapon and make sure to keep it cleaned at all times. And keep the weapon inspected for any damage least she kills herself with the weapon. Hearing the briefing of the weapon made her extremely happy as she stood there quietly.
Her eyes was widen as well as she was about to gladly take the gun from him and use it to kill her enemies with it.
The fear of killing her entire squad and herself played in her head as she said, "Yes, Sir. I will personally maintain the gun."
She nodded in respect of him from his face returning to a more gentle demeanor. Which was rare for her to see. "Thank you, Sir. I will definitely make sure to not die. Ad Victoriam!" she said in salute as she knew she didn't want to die in an instant from her own firearm. She didn't take his orders lightly either.
She smiled when she had her head patted from him knowing that she had done something good for him to do that.
As she stood there, she listened to more briefing from him. 'I won't let anyone mock you,' she thought in her head as she stood there listening to him even further. With a simple nod, she said, "Sir, yes, sir. I will make sure I will not fail this mission. For the Emperor of Mankind," she said softly as she stared at him with the highest respect.
She knew stealth from her own universe. That's how she had alluded the police many times. As a rogue once, she could easily infiltrate their compound and make sure that everything goes well. "I will do more then just burn them to the ground. I will make them fear me every time they see me come into the battlefield," she said with a slight grin on her face.
"Sir, yes, Sir! No one mocks Lord General Aleksandr!" she said as she took a sit patting a sit next to herself. She wanted him to sit down with her so they could enjoy that recaf for once without being interrupted. She felt like she belonged here and not where she came from. Her whole life she felt out of place until she was shot into this universe. And she will make sure NO ONE MOCKED HIM. That would be dishonor to herself and to him. Finally she took the weapon as she examined the weapon with careful. Definitely something she didn't want to allow to blow up in front of her face and taking her entire squad with her. She actually admired it.
She looked at Harkoth as she wasn't sure. She knew it was a plasma pistol, and by the looks of it, it had enough firepower to incinerate her enemies where they stood.

No, she has a plasma pistol, the phosphor serpenta is another really cool weapon but Harkoths? presumably.

" You know Arpatia "
Aleksandr paused as a servitor poured out two cups of recaf, he customarily offered her the cup first before taking his own.
" It seems only yesterday that I was a commissar on the frontlines, there battlefield is indeed a treacherous place... I have executed many a guardsman for insubordination but you... you are certainly not one of them. Sometimes they saw the deed done themselves, upon the subject of plasma weapons, one time I was crammed in a chimera with a penal unit, you know, scum... condemned to military servitude on a tyranid infested hellscape... naturally, I was put in charge of that rowdy bunch to keep discipline in check... but by the light of the astronomican, that day, someone in the armory had the ill-construed thought of providing one of those men with a plasma gun... oh... what a mistake that was, so there I was, barking commands in a chimera and I hear these blue flashes, naturally our gunner had been ripped out turret and all by a Trygon... hrn... horrible things those are... with the teeth and the claws and the mandibles... LIKE DEADLY MANTISES... CROSSED WITH A SNAKE. "

The general suddenly stood up from his chair tossing the cup in his hand, the other moving instinctively to his chainsword before he came to his senses, he probably had a flashback.
" Hr-Ahem... pardon me, sometimes the fervor returns... I did not always want a position of office, as you can see, I am more accustomed to the field of honor... anyhow, so the top half of our vehicle is missing and this guardsman, whom I ordered to use the assault bolter, props up the side and starts taking out tyranid after tyranid with his plasma rifle, I suppose the maddening rush of power got to him, but a plasma weapon is ill-suited to mass extermination, not for virtue of a lack of efficacy but the inherent danger vested in the weapon... I see the cooling ribs turn a bright white and the thing shake in his hands and scrambled out the vehicle as fast as I could... not two seconds later... an explosion what could have taken a hive block... several days later I found the back door of that chimera, strewn upon a bridge... it was a spectacular distance away from our last position... ah... the good old days... sometimes I miss being amongst the guardsmen, shortlived as most were.
He added lighting his smoking pipe

" I never quite had the time nor the luxury to inquire as to your background, the planet you hail from... what was it like ? did you know or revere the Imperial creed and how did you fare on that planet?

"Yes, Lord General?"
She accepted the cup of recaf first as she took a drink of it as she sat there enjoying some rest and relaxation.
She showed horror when he told a story about one of his missions. She hoped that that didn't happen to her. War is war and anything could happen. She would never insubordinate him in any way. It would mean treason to her. Instant death without being allowed any wishes. "That must have been devastating to watch as they handed of a plasma gun to the wrong person. She was shocked when a creature ripped through one of his squad members. "Horrible...I can imagine the blood on you as they all got ripped apart but you," she said as she shook her head with some remorse.
She got up off her chair when she saw him toss his cup in the air, seeing him grab his chainsword. She was slightly scared as she stood there without saying a word.
Hearing the final bit of his story, she couldn't help to be more remorseful. "I am sorry that that happened. Perhaps I could experience the same, but make sure our men come back or alive, or I will be joining them," she said as she calmed down from what had just happened moments ago. She hoped that in reality it never happened to her. She wanted to bring her men back safely so they could have some recaf or some ale. Whichever they favor first.
She thought for a moment when she watched him pour another cup of recaf for himself.
She thought deeper as she finally said, "As you know I am not from here. I am from a alternate earth where technology was number one. Cyborgs and their cybernetics. Robots...Street racing. Running from the law," she said as she remembered her old life. "That's all I knew. I had no discipline until now, Lord General Aleksandr." She thought for a moment again. "Before being shot here somehow, I believed in nothing. Ever heard of a Atheist? They believed in technology. But Harkoth...He can keep his god, Ergo," she said as she smiled slightly. She didn't want to lose her flesh over time. "Interesting story, huh?" she asked as she looked at him as she drank more of the recaf as she sat back down to relax.

Admittedly, the Sergeant's story spurned a bit of curiosity, he listened intently to the sergeant, sipping recaf in between her speaking.
" Your situation and world reminds me vaguely of an imperial world called Necromunda. Such places are ruthless, but indeed they can raise the most resourceful warriors, even more commendable then that you chose to join the Imperial Guard of your own accord. It is... It is indeed an interesting story, though naturally you'll have far more interesting stories with each battle survived. Hrmph... Imperial records are scant on such matters but I do maintain a personal library of sorts over which I am given sanction, Ministorum permitting ofcourse, it would suffice to say I have had a privilege of exposure very few individuals have enjoyed over the course of our history but even then, humanity's sagas are so boundless that I doubt several lifetimes would suffice to know it all and we are but one of several countless civilizations across the cosmos, the ebb and flow of it all is bewildering. "
He shot a disciplining glance to Arpatia, light-hearted but reminding her of her station
" That is Lord Harkoth to you, Guardswoman. The workings of the Adeptus Mechanicus, his faction, are an enigma to us, though we have the good fortune of their support for the most part, aeons ago, the peoples of earth and mars forged a pact, having seen the calamities on earth and what was wrought by the hubris of mortal ambition, I do not fault them for wanting to trade flesh... but perfection is truly a myth guardswoman, a false destination... it is not something to be achieved but strived for, in perpetuity and with discretion, consider your plasma pistol, a capable weapon, but only in tempered hands, those who abuse it will see their undoing and those who do not use it, will meet the same fate, as with all things the principal virtue is temperance... for that you train more than your trigger finger hrahah... but the Magos is a well-respected precisely logical being... he does not speak in sentiments, he speaks in absolutes... we have our differences, but I respect him... and I would die alongside him, if only to honor what they have done for us... that plasma pistol in your hands, the engineering of it, the craft of it, consumed hundreds of lifetimes... it is not my work, it is the work of those like Harkoth whose labor upon forge worlds is tireless... by the Emperor, I have seen them give new limbs and return lives... if you were gravely wounded upon a battlefield Arpatia... the only thing between you and oblivion would be a tech-priest... Harkoth... for lack of a better word, is a friend and an ally, we will extend him such courtesy... for we are professionals, the astra militarum is a time honored institute...
He paused looking back at Arpatia
" Do you realize how many imperial citizens you will inspire, do you ever stop to look at the young girl in the crowd that points at you and sees a future for herself, you are the Imperium's hope... always portray yourself as such... we are all flawed truly though we must strive to present an edifice... for if we portray strength, they grow stronger and if we are weak, then they grow weaker... it is the faith of the many, that is equally as strong as our guns and forges. "
He nodded.
" Perhaps one day there will be more from your world who will join the guard, I hope you live to see the day to command them... and who knows... it might be you who becomes Lord General... afterall... I was but a lowly and somewhat mad Commissar condemned to the command of the penal legion. "
There was a subtle pause, Aleksandr seemed to be in deep... deep thought... sipping on the recaf, before he abruptly turned to Arpatia.
" And never let them mock you or your superiors, that's how it all starts... a little quip... next week... stolen rations... next week somebody forgot to fuel the Tauros... next week half the regimental charge-packs are missing because an insubordinate smuggled them off to a hive gang... and before you know it.. you have mutant genestealers in your own ranks ! you must always remember never to forego the act of mockery Arpatia... you will see to it that I am not mocked... atleast... atleast threaten them. Have you ever looked at a mutant gene-stealer xeno cultist in the eyes... they have scales instead of hair ! big thick gnarly scales ! and fangs... and the beady green eyes... very vicious and demented... hrn... I hate tyranids... and you will too once you meet them. "
"I think I've arrived at a bad time."
"Yeah, who's the jester now? At least we have mortality on Mars..."
