Dungeon Master (played anonymously)

Callisto is a world of technology and magic, a world that is one giant city with a few forest preserves here and there along with a couple small saltless oceans. This is the only world the five of you have ever known. Each of you are different in every way except for one, you were all orphans, brought in off the streets to live in Altas Home for Gifted Young Gentalmen. And what brings you back to the Orphanahe today is the funeral of Mister Atlas Evans. He was like a father to each of you and you are each dealing with the loss of Atlas differently. But in his last Will and Testament he leaves you each with 100 Credits, donates the boy's orphanage to the State Guilds Deparment, and a letter asking each one of you five to look out for each other...

"Well this is awkward..." Etharon had only been out of the orphanage for about two and a half years now. He was twenty and was pretending not to care even though Atlas was the only person he had ever trusted. A human who raised any race of boy in Callisto, in a racist time like this where Humans hated Elidran, Lizarians hated Drow, Elidran hated everyone and everyone hated Orcs. But for some reason Atlas had been different, and for the Etharon was thankful. "What should we do with his ashes?" Etharon said looking at the urn of what was once Atlas.
"He wanted to be cremated so that he could stay at the orphanage, even after death... it was as much his home as it was ours." Alkilai said in a solemn tone, he remembered Atlas being so big to him, it was hard to believe that such a small pot could hold his remains. Alkilai flexed the fingers on his robotic arms, he lost his real appendages in the accident that took his parents from him, and Atlas being the good man he was paid to have them replaced with mechanical prosthetics when he took him in. He had fond memories of chatting with the old man as he did maintenance on his arms, looking back at it he wondered if he was more of a bother to him than the other kids, basically being another expense no different than the air conditioning or plumbing.

"...Guess we could ask the State Guilds Department if they'll make like an alter for him at the orphanage and keep his ashes there." He suggested.
Elo (played by TurboEnder)

"It's...strange to think that he's gone. It's almost as if we can just walk in the front doors and see him come around the corner, his eyes lighting up and his face smiling..." Elo stopped himself. he didn't feel like sobbing in front of these people. Instead he thought back to the days when Atlas taught him the difference between right and wrong.

(Elo is a robot, btw, but he has sentient. He's literally like a human in a robot body, but no one knew for a long time. He looks completely human except for sensors that hang in place of ears. Anyway, moving on...)

Atlas had taken the time to show him that following orders was not always right, and that he had to try and decide for himself what was best. And he had. If it weren't for Atlas, he'd still be a mindless drone, doing what others told him, even if it felt wrong. He was lucky the accident killed his "father." If he hadn't been sent to the orphanage, he would never have known what friends were. Or hope.
Christofer had just joined the others. The boy had heard some of the clients talking about the orphanage and mentioning the name 'Atlas' constantly. No, he had not forgotten the man who raised him and technicly saved him from the streets, but hearing the name in the same sentence with 'dead' and 'gone' sounded,so unreal to him. He remembered the man as a happy and healthy person, rarely shying away from attending to the playtime of the younger kids, nor did he allow the bit older ones to fight it off when he was around

He was such a nice and gentle person. It was as if nothing bad could have ever happened to him...

But there he was, supposedly in that small urn that the others were discussing over.
Christofer had taken his time from work to come and see if the man was fine, but he wasn't prepared for this. He should have, but in the end he couldn't

He wasn't able to speak over the matter like the others, holding his hands partly over his face and making an effort to not cry, he sobbed quietly...

@Simon- Some people look at you funny when you walk in and shouted, "The life of the party has arrived." You have always been the jokester, the class clown of the group casting practical joke spells for the entertainment of the group. You always bullied Toffi, and your maturity hasn't kicked in yet still. But no matter how many times you cast your joke spells Atlas still pressured you to work on actual spells, he supported your magic skills even when you turned his beard and mustache into a hot pink color and it took him a month to get the color out. This memory makes you smile.

@Etharon- When you turned 16 you began selling "Shadow Dust", a drug inhaled through your nose. Not only did Atlas pull money out of his own pocket to buy all your drugs, but he also payed off the drug dealers to stay away from you so you could stay on the right path in life. This memory echoes in your mind.

@Alkalai- according to paperwork that you find in the house, the orphans are going to be transferred out of this place and to a government orphanage about a mile west of here, this building is going to be torn down and turned into a fancy hotel. This saddens you but reminds you of a time after your surgery, Atlas had only brought you in a few weeks ago and he told you, "this is your home now Al my boy, just think of it as a hotel for boys to study and have fun." These memories fill your thoughts.

@Elo- "It's your week to vacuum the downstairs Elo," you remember Atlas saying. You put your game controller down and head to the closet and Atlas stops you, "Elo, you have six days and twenty three hours to vacuum, it only takes an hour or two... You don't have to do it now, or today, or in the next couple days. Relax, have some fun, and when you have some down time, then do the chore." Atlas was different then your previous "father" because he advocated slacking which was odd for you, but it made you feel at home.

@Toffi- Simon has just cast a spell called fox tail on you and Etharon and some of the other younger kids had been laughing at you to the point of crying. "Toffi, open the door, it's me..." You had locked yourself in the third floor bathroom and weren't going to open up for anyone. But you heard a click and the door opened, Atlas had picked the lock and entered the bathroom. "It's ok to cry, it helps you get all your emotions out, but then you have to go back out there and prank him right back..." After making you laugh a little Atlas helped you craft a small bow and an arrow with itching powder pack on the front. You shot Simon and the pack burst right on his butt, he couldn't stop scratching for three days! This thought dries some of your tears.

I stare at the credits in my hand, fingering them as though they were precious diamonds. I had never in my life seen so much wealth. The gold sparkled in the rays of the suns, captivating me. I shook my head, as I knew what I had to do- but could I do it? I felt as though I had been split in two, one side wishing for fortune wealth, and the other begging me to do the right thing. If I split the gold in half, then maybe things will be okay. But it's a risk.

And I'm not a risk-taker.

Alas, after Atlas has done so much for me, I must. I began to leave when I realize something- he left me here to rot with these pigheads. I thought he loved me, but sooner or later, I might just snap.

I needed some fresh air, so I stepped outside. Big mistake. I felt an icy hand clamp on my shoulder as I was dragged off, behind the horizon, into lands I was unfamiliar with. I reached for my staff, only to realize I had left it inside. I wanted to scream, or possibly even see who was assaulting me, but I was too fearful of whom they might be, or what they'd do if I tried to get help. By now, I had been taken a good mile away, into a forest where no flowers ever bloomed and the sun never shined. The trees were brown and gnarled, their branches looking like long, crooked fingers.
I barely manage to wheeze out "What do you want?" What I heard instantly took the color from my face. This terrifying statement was a mere two words "your life." The reason for this, I did not know. All I could do was scream.

But, then again, no one can hear you scream in the middle of nowhere.

@Simon- I know your new to D&D style of play, but I control all NPC's. But this is no problem because I can fit it into the story as a memory...

As Simon steps outside he is hit with the memories of his past. Unlike some of you who's parents left, or were killed, Simon was kidnapped as a child by some thugs! These thugs were going to try to make money off kidnapping the rich father of Simon but after his sons kidnapping the Drow man snapped and killed himself. Although none of this was Simons fault he always blamed himself and was reliving that right now just outside the door. (Not Kidnapped, the group stays together for the most part.)
Lord Arken (played anonymously)

Etharon looks outside and sees Simon taking this harder then anyone, including Toffi who is simply standing and sobbing. Joining Alkalai and Elo the Lizarian sighs, "drinks on me after this, what do you gentlemen say?" He was mostly talking to Al and El but made a gesture to Toffi suggesting that he too was invited. "The Blue Jupiter is the best place to drink in this district, I'd say we drink off this sadness and then go back to not talking to each other for the rest of our lives." He was joking but that was how it had been, and with Atlas's request that they "have each others backs" he didn't know how much the group would take to that to heart.
Benjamin (played by lasagnalover9)

(Sorry for my super noob-ishness, I'll try super hard to do better XD
BTW, can I make up spells, or is there a list to choose from?)
Alkilai couldn't believe his eyes as he sifted through the paperwork Atlas had left behind. The house was going to be torn down, just to make way for yet another snooty hotel that only 1% of the population could even afford, just the though of it made his blood boil. However, it didn't really come as a surprise to him, even when they were all young Atlas struggled to keep the place open, there were mountains of debt but he always tried to keep that from effecting the quality of life he provided to the children he took in. When Alkilai turned 16 he began street fighting to try and help Atlas pay the bills, he was a natural at it and so managed to make a good profit, but the man wouldn't take it, he didn't want to pay his expenses with money he got from one of his kids getting beat on.

"Damn it old man, why didn't you just take it!" Alkilai cursed under his breath, crumbling up the paperwork in his mechanical hands and throwing them to the floor in anger. "...Yeah, I could use a drink." Alkilai replied to Etharon's offer, he wasn't really a drinker, but after the day he had, he'd do anything to get rid of the sadness and frustration.
Elo (played by TurboEnder)

Elo laughed nervously, replying to the offer with, "sure, I'll go, but, ah, I wont be drinking anything."

Being the way he was, not needing food or water, he was often viewed as strange by the others. Atlas always went out of his way to make Elo feel like he was just another part of the group. That's part of the reason Elo wanted to become a scientist. The Human body facinated him, as....well, as creepy as that sounded. He figured, if he cant be human, the next best thing is to imagine himself as one and know all there was to know. He'd made some money as he went along this path, healing people with his knowledge, always sending a bit back to the the orphanage. But it was always sent back, Atlas refusing to take any money. Elo wondered why, and one day he wondered if maybe it was because Atlas felt he'd be taking advantage of a boy who had been taken advantage of his entire life.
Christofer sobbed a bit still. The orphanage just didn't feel the same without Atlas, even he wasn't exactly feeling much of it there anyway... The whole Place seemed so, abandoned.... Lifeless... He sniffed and took a napkin from his pocket - he was still wearing his working clothes - dried his face in it and tried to calm down... Crying wouldn't help him in the situation, no matter how many tears he'd shed it wasn't going to bring the man back.
He had found memories of the man. But really he knew that even if Atlas would know that he they cared, he wouldn't have wanted them to cry over him but instead cherrish the good memories they had... The memories would only make him cry more though.

The boy sniffed again, cleaning his face again. He didn't want to sound horrible and all crybaby like, so he just nodded at the drinking idea. He wasn't very good when it came to alcohol though, so he preferred to not get in touch with it. He'd just have himself some juice or such... Besides, drunk people scared him.

@Simon- As the group exits the Orphanage you join them, they walk three city blocks north then cut a block west and arrive at the "Blue Jupiter. And as you know, nothing goes better with sorrow then a barrel of the houses finest ale!

@Etharon- Once inside the Blue Jupiter you instantly see the owner of the place, a personal friend of yours Marak the Orcish bartender/owner of the bar! He waves tring to figure out the identity of your guests, after being unable to place most of the faces he smiles, "Four Apple Ales and an Can of Oil for the Gear Head?" He asks as you take your seat. Marak has known you for almost two years now, and you were even his room mate until about a year ago, things were left sour but in the last few months you kinda patched things up.

@Alkalai- A few members of the bar turn and look at you, pointing as they do. One older Drow looks at you, then at the television, then back at you before saying something in drunken Elvish. His friend, a human, turns around and says, "ehh, that is Iron Fist Al!" Looking up you see a re-run of one of your boxing matches last week is being televised as an Orc and an Elidran on screen discuss your narrow victory against some cyborg fighter.

@Elo- When you are called a Gear Head you may take offense or you may not. Names like Tin Can, Bolts Brain, and Gear Head are hurtful slang terms that natural borns call cybernetic bots such as yourself. As a Can of Oil is placed in front of you at no charge to you you may change your mind about being offended, Orcs usually don't think before they speak. It's pretty clear he wasn't saying what he did to hurt you, just to refer to you as a non-natural born... But it is your choice do whatever you see fit to do.

@Toffi- Ale is placed before you and the other four natural born, along with a can of Oil near your Bot brother, as you suggest that you wouldn't like any booze the Orc bartender laughs and chugs three fourths of YOUR drink and then fills the cup with water creating "Grog", 1/4 Liquor, 3/4 Water, "best I can do for ya, ain't no milk for babes like ya here I'm fraid!"
Elo (played by TurboEnder)

Suppressing a smart remark, Elo gratefully takes the oil. He looks to the others around him, and decides that Atlas would not want them to be sad about his death. If anything, Atlas would be smacking the back of their heads playfully, asking, "why cry over me? I had my time! Don't waste yours on me!" Elo grinned slightly at the thought.

He looked up when someone mentioned boxing. He turned to Alkalai, surprised, and said, "Hey, I never knew you were a boxer."
Benjamin (played by lasagnalover9)

I get an evil smile as I jump off my chair and strut over to Toffi.
"Hey, Toffee." I put mu hand on his shoulder, speaking in a sincere voice.
"Care for a... friendly wager?" I feign a smile of sincerity.
Benjamin (played by lasagnalover9)

I chug my drink down in less then 10 seconds. I laugh as I slam the glass down, making a sound. I shoot the bartender a look.
"That was okay. But I know you have better. Stop holding back, make me your best drink here, and give it all you got!"

I get an evil smile as I jump off my chair and strut over to Toffi.
"Hey, Toffee." I put mu hand on his shoulder, speaking in a sincere voice.
"Care for a... friendly wager?" I feign a smile of sincerity.
Lord Arken (played anonymously)

Etharon looks at Simon chug his drink then up at the bartender, "I'm only paying for his first..." Etharon slips Marak five credits, one for each drink, then begins to take a few gulps of his ale. "Yeah Al, do tell of your exiting times in the ring!" Being not exactly a close friend of Marak anymore Etharon is going to look for an opportunity to become unnoticed and rob the man of a few credits, Etharon is in a lot of debt and owes just about two thousand credits to a bunch of different loan sharks, along with being a month late on his rent. So he is gonna steal some of it back from different people.

rolled 1d20 and got a natural 12. After the modifier of +2, got 14
