Street-lights illuminated the empty pathways within the sullen city, the snow falling more and more as the night continued it's journey towards Dawn. The streets were soulless and without sound as you kept on walking throughout this seemingly ghost town. You were so tired, and longed for warmth, yet had no intentions of going home. You soon came across a small Alleyway where small noises could be heard. You had made it to your destination at last... "How're you holding up?" You asked while coming closer to the source of the noise. "Not so well..." The shaky voice of a young man answers while two red orbs looks at you from the shadows. "Anyway, did you bring it?"
Magic is very common. Magic-tech, grand floating islands, forests that sing, magical creatures may be an every-day occurrence.
Modern
Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.

Cream tossed a small bag towards the young man, her tone lacking emotion but still loud as usual. She shifted her weight onto her left leg, jutting her right hip forward. Arms crossed over her narrow frame. Harsh blue eyes glared at the crimson ones before her. Cream hated being cold. She also hated being tired, but beggars couldn't be choosers. Feeling another shiver go across her body, she decided to finally question the guy in front of her.
"Can you remind me again why we have to meet at three o' clock in the morning outside? I can't feel my toes."
She rubbed her arms, trying to bring in some warmth that her coat did literally nothing to hold.
"You could have come to my apartment. It would be way less of a hassle than freezing our limbs off out here."

"Because I don't want to cause you any more trouble..." The man answered in almost a whisper, "but still, thanks for your consideration..." He continued, noting that she was shivering. "If you want, I can light a fire..." Again, this came out as pretty much a whisper, his red eyes now staring at the white at his feet. Oh, how he hated snow...
