King Conrad was known to be a harsh stern ruler, with little mercy at that.

His ways had brought peace and prosperity, albeit with a touch of tense caution and concealed fear.

He had strict laws that everyone was expected to follow which prohibited the use of magic, carrying concealed weapons, refusing guards orders, among other laws and the least transgression was met with the harshest penalties.

Since he ruled with an iron fist, every week, at noon, he would deliver royal announcements and ensure the public reprimand of transgressions as a warning to all citizens to abide by the law

On this occasion, however, his words spoke of dire warning instead.

"My people, our scouts have reported sightings of dragons ravaging our lands. Villages have already been scorched, with cattle and lives and livelihoods lost.

Fear not, I shall raise a party of hunters of the most fearsome kind to combat the beast and bring about its demise. I, king Conrad, so swear to do all I can to protect our kingdom and be rid of our foes" proclaimed Conrad

This was followed with many claps of approval, despite the worried muttering and concerned looks.

Once the proclamation was over king Conrad personally came to bring an ultimatum to those prisoners that he deemed were highly disposable citizens with nothing to loose and much to gain from accepting his bartering.

Their lives and some gold if they agreed to kill the dragon, or the inevitable execution that already lingered over them if they refused

''Fine Fine'' he said while following a guard pulling him by the wrists

To say that the well known warrior Tove was happy with the situation she was presented with would be a lie. Did she love to kill things? Yes. Did she love being forced to do anything? No. So naturally, there was a conflict of interest there. Tove even considered telling the man off and just dealing with the execution, but the memory of the fresh air and the snowy hills was enough to have her agreeing wholeheartedly to being released so she could kill the menace.

She knew she needed new armor, but she at least got her special battle ax back, and that was all that really mattered. So the viking woman waited impatiently just outside the guard's tower for the others who were supposed to band with her in order to slay this great beast.

Tove looked fairly scary, despite being in the typical prison rags and being quite small for a warrior. She just had that look to her eyes that forced fear into her foes. She supposed that's why she was so successful in being a tank.

Lupus, a powerful being disguised as a common mortal, had spent many days in jail. His transgression? His difference. Despite hiding his magical and physical prowess, his appearance was far from normal. Long white hair, glowing red eyes, and a furry golden tail. In these times, these traits were seen to be born only from evil, and thus landed the man in jail. He didn't fight it though, he knew he could get away if worse came to worse.

Yet something came to his pointed ears that actually interested him. The chance to go fight a dragon. It brought a fanged smile to his face. Of course he would accept the deal.

This definitely wasn't the first time Evelina was in a situation like this.

Usually, no one would question her if Evelina were to transfer to another kingdom temporarily. It seemed like no matter where she went, or how famous she became, prejudice would always be a problem. Though she never made a big deal out of it. Verbal harassment was one thing, but something like this, was unacceptable. Evelina decided that once she got out of this mess, she would be sure to mount the head of the suspect on her wall.

The king had other plans, though. They wanted her and some others to slay a dragon, or get executed if they were to refuse. It was troublesome, because she sort of needed that for being alive.

"By the grace of Freya, please, don't let the rest be complete idiots." She muttered to herself.

Wondering what the king was talking about he realized that he'd get put in a group with strangers
''Oh no.'' he whispered. he was considering execution right about now. Besides the fact he'd be put in a group with delinquents he didnt have his axe. But then again he didnt want to end up headless..

Aynor frowned at the strangers that he had been mixed up with back at the barrack cells. He was leaning and keeping closer to his group of thugs wondering if these criminals were truly so like him and his group or just locked up wrongfully.

It was well known that the king was rather fickle and one could land up behind solid bars and chains for almost every and any reason at all, even none.

The fact that they were sentenced to death or imprisonment was no assurance that any of these folks shared the least cravings for thefts and mischief as his crew happened to harvest in abundance.

Sir Pentre had brought the prisoners, who were supposed to be executed that week, outside the dungeons and its notorious tower lining them up and forcing them to their knees, archers lining walls and roofs and pointing at them for better insurance.

Conrad came over to the lined up kneeling crew, each well restrained, pulling their head backwards by harshly tugging the hair, forcing a vial of dark liquid down each their throats, giving a good slap on the back or two to make sure it was swallowed.

Once satisfied he waved the guards to withdraw, leaving Pentre to remove shackles, chains and restraints, leaving them free men standing

"You've been fed a magic imbued poison that will eventually kill you within the month, it won't weaken you in any way but you'll drop dead without the antidote.

Its only known remedy and cure is fresh dragon blood. Off you go then, kill the beast and save yourselves and the kingdom" encouraged Pentre walking away and leaving them standing

"You have one hour to steal what provisions and weapons you need, afterwards, I want you gone or you'll be shot dead" warned Pentre tipping an hour glass and leaving it standing in the castle courtyard

Mace tried to strike the man in anger ''How Dare You Poison Me You Scum!!" he yelled in fury

The minute she was free of her shackles, Tove was on her feet and gone. Screw the others. She could take this beast down herself if she had to. She was stronger than all of them. Or so she thought. As she turned the corner to get away, she ended up running quite hard into a group of bandits it seemed. "Shit. Sorry." She muttered, her accent thick and noticeable. She had grabbed her ax along the way and it was strapped across her back

When the man tried to feed her the poison, she moved her head away. "Don't worry about me. I'll do it without your force. Dragons kill innocents, I kill things that kill the innocent. It's a mutual relationship with me and monsters."

Though, the situation just got much more wonderful. One of the strangers had already run off.

Thank you, oh great and powerful Freya. You've graced me with idiots and cowards. She thought, letting out a sigh.

"By Thor's hammer." Lupus muttered as he got to his feet. His long white hair fell before his glowing eyes, yet it didn't hide the glare aimed at the king. The god would be sure to pay him visit when this ordeal was over. He then turned, disappearing into the village.

He would find a secluded corner, and kneel. He traced a design in the dirt, and chant something over it. It would glow darkly for a moment before a large satchel and a sword would appear in it. He strapped the bag, laden with food and other things that may be needed for the journey, to his back. The sword, a four foot long curvy blade with a skull at the hilt, he place in an empty sheath strapped to the underside of the satchel.



Afterwords, he would move out, looking for the others. Other then summoning what he needed, he revised he would do his best to hide his abilities and origins.

Mace stopped as soon as the hourglass was placed down. ''He then grabbed his Axe and some armor and set off on his way.''Psh. there's no way in hell im gonna work with those idiots.He walked out of the castle into the wild.

After the whole ordeal, Evelina had gotten her armor and weapons. It was relieving, like her skin had been returned to her. She had watched one chubby, short man leave, but didn't decide to go after him.

If he wants to die, so be it. I'm not responsible. Evelina set out to go find someone sensible in this whole mess. Though she had a nagging feeling that she would have a hard time doing so. She pulled out her small leatherbound book filled with notes on supernatural creatures, and turned the page to her information on dragons. Back in her own kingdom, they were called Lindworms.

She glanced up, noticing something white moving through the area.

After leaving he decided to wait on the outskirts of the castle ''he said if your still inside you would be shot dead. not if your outside of town.'' While waiting mace watched a young lady looking at the entrance ''And shes supposed to help defeat a massive lizard'' he scoffed. Im not gonna wait forever. he said as he looked up to see something giant flying overhead.

Tove was planning on taking the dragon down by herself... But maybe she could ask for the help of some of the people she had found herself associating with back in her old town, the bandits. Just as she was about to turn and walk away from the group she had so rudely ran into, she had a change of thought and turned around. "Would you like to accompany me in killing a dragon? I'll pay you all handsomely if you do a good job." She murmured to what seemed like the leader

"By Odin's spear." Evelina muttered. That must be a dragon in the distance. If so, she would have to hurry. Her attention turned to the man she saw leaving a couple of minutes earlier. She had heard what he said, and she wasted no time marching over to him.

"I've killed plenty of dragons in the past. It took skill. Which I'm sure you have." There was sarcasm laced in her tone. "Look, I don't exactly want to die, you don't want to die, mutual feelings. We'll use it to our advantage.

Lupus arrived at the outskirts not long after. His six foot frame emerged from between the buildings, and join the other two, of whom he recognized to be fellow adventurers. He looked up to at supposed shadow.
"I do not believe that the dragon would attack at the kingdom's core, it would be beyond it's tastes to do so."
He spoke as he walked up.
"I don't think a dragon would want a tail full of arrows."
