Anywho~

I'm looking to try something a bit different with this big ol' drunk. I'm actually seeking to open his emotional capabilities (assuming that's even a phrase that makes some sort of sense.). Typically, Rhys only has like 3 moods when around people who aren't related to him- drunk, grumpy, or friendly but keeping a safe distance. Those are all I can think of off the top of my head as I'm semi-swamped with Inktober catch-up. So yay. Yeah.

Basically, what I want to try (which I'm gonna state right now I'm probably going to be slightly picky with it) is to see if I can get Rhys emotionally invested in someone new. I'm bad at explaining things, so please bear with me as to what I mean- Rhys is essentially wary of getting past your basic friendship (he's not even too inclined to claim "best friends") because of a fear he refuses to admit of his loved ones leaving him, as he lost his mother at a relatively young age.

Now, I'm not asking specifically for romance here (though I'm not opposed if it develops naturally and isn't forced. Though if it does end up heading that way, it'd have to be with a guy). I'm essentially looking for someone to teach Rhys that it's okay to be strongly attached to more people than the ones you're blood related to. He's got some “oh God what if they die on me?” fears going on. Assuming this whole thing doesn't sound stupid and all because I'm a dumb at times. *awkward finger guns*

Basic Stuff

• I prefer roleplaying through email or Google Drive.
• I strongly prefer RPing with adults. I don't do smut, but still.
• No teen/adolescent characters or kids as mains. Period. No exceptions. If your character has kids that'll hang around now and again it's fine.
• Humans only
• I'd prefer no magic, but very, very, very little (ex. It's kind of there but barely anyone knows about it or has it) is maybe possible
• If you're gonna attempt a potential naturally developing romance deal, please please please avoid that bullcrap "seme/uke" stereotype yaoi thing. I'll puke everywhere.

So yeah. Reply here or PM me if you're curious about Rhys or potentially starting an RP. I'm good with slice of life, organized crime type deals, pirate crap, etc., really. Doesn't have to be just a "hey let's just... whatever." thing. Steampunk also isn't mandatory, just preferred.

Please let it be noted that I prefer talking ideas out with a potential partner, but here's a few things I can branch out on, OR if you've got any ideas, let me know.

• Pirates are lurking around the coastal towns, looking for a big score on any unsuspecting docks they find. Rhys happens to be assisting on the docks- where he ends up one of the unfortunate captives to either be broken down into a deckhand/free laborer, or just gets dumped off somewhere like trash/to a slave market if he ends up being useless- as this big loser just keeps talking about getting home to his family and really isn't cooperating. (Your character can be a fellow captive, a pirate, someone from wherever he might be dumped off, or someone he escapes from the servitude market with.) (Steampunk)
• Workaholic Rhys gets guilted into taking a vacation after his siblings essentially beg him to not work himself to death like their father did. On his way out or back, something goes wrong, and the airship, boat, or train he's on either crashes/is raided/taken over and he (possibly another passenger) needs to find a way back. (Steampunk)
• The local crime syndicate (whether it's a formal group such as a Mafia, Bratva, Mob, Cartel, etc., or just some sleazy, lame street gang) is getting a bit more desperate and "involved in the community" in terms of storing/distributing their not-so-legal wares... Rhys' bar just so happens to be one of the unwilling locations, under threats to his family if he doesn't cooperate or if any of the wares don't make it to their destinations. (Modern Realism or steampunk)
• Rhys somehow ends up caught up in the investigation of a supernatural being sighted and attacking people in the area. (Modern Light Fantasy)

Feel free to send a few ideas my way if you have any! These are just some basic things that came to mind while I was boredly sitting at the front desk at work Friday, so they're certainly not concrete!

If this was an 'I'm interested' post rather than just a random greeting, I'm going to have to decline. I'm severely uncomfortable with people RPing as existing, current people. Alternative history, I can generally understand (ex. if someone had a Jack the Ripper or Zodiac Killer character or something), but this is just... I dunno. No, thanks.
