EDIT - Digital version created and pencil/paper version replaced!

I always say my characters have a little world just for them, that I created for them, that they can hang out in whenever they please and interact with each other. Today I thought I'd flesh out that hub world. Pencil went to paper. I may make a better quality version later. Feel free to ask questions or comment.

North and South Home Portals
These are two way portals. They all have portal activation devices implanted in their brains and the portals recognize them and send them to the proper home world. They can't visit others' home worlds. When in their home world, they simply have to think about wanting to come to the hub and a portal will open in front of them, but they can only do it while alone and where nobody will see it. Canon friends and relatives of my characters can activate the portals as well. Other OCs not created by me that are friends of my OCs, well, that's a bit more complicated, but it is manageable.

Whether they arrive from the north or south seems to be random, but it actually depends on the amount of traffic that portal has seen or is seeing in any given day. They'll arrive through the one that is the least busy. Some of them have complained about arriving from the north and having to walk around the central building to the vending machines because they were just STARVING for hub snacks and drinks. I'd call them lazy, but I'd honestly probably react the same way. No object can be taken out of the hub, and no object can be taken into the hub either, with the obvious exception of clothing and towels for the pool, and personal grooming items.

Dragoncat's Temple
My base of operations. While my voice can be heard anywhere in the hub, the temple has the strongest signal and I can even produce a hologram of myself there if needed or desired. I can check the portal traffic and do general hub maintenance through the hologram.

This is also where new arrivals are added and welcomed. The rule is they have to inform me if they've fallen in love in their home world or met a friend they want to bring along, the former BEFORE the romance becomes fruitful, but believe it or not, a certain guard captain broke it once. I figured out he was hiding a wife and young son back in his home world and gave him a stern talking to.

They all know not to speak of me or the hub back home openly. It will just cause confusion, what with the other deities and religions that exist in the various worlds. Naturally they'll want to make sure they fully trust a friend or lover before they mention me.

Vending Machines
These are quite popular, they restock themselves every day with snacks and drinks unique to the hub and modern worlds. Everybody gets five tokens a day and each snack or drink costs one token. Sometimes they use them all, sometimes they save them, sometimes they give them to (or take them from!) the others. If they save them they'll still get their five the next day, so if somebody only used up two tokens, the next day they'll have eight of them for example. Tokens and hub snacks and drinks can't be taken out of the hub, they will disappear from pockets or bags etc when the portals sense them, and those portals are pretty darn good at it. The tokens and snacks or drinks will reappear when they come back, but I can't guarantee that the snacks or drinks will still be sealed and not spill when reappearing.

Even with the daily restocking, it's next to impossible to keep cheetos in the snack machine with this guy around. You'd think he gets enough back home, jeez!

Central Building
I'll be making a map of this too, basically it's got dorm rooms, bathrooms, sitting areas etc.

Stables
It says stables, but it can double as kennels for small companion animals too. They're cleaned and stocked with food for the animals by robots.

Armory
They can't bring weapons from their homes, so the armory contains replicas of their weapons made out of strong, but soft, foam. This is so they can enjoy the sparring arena without killing each other.

Target Range
Has archery and magic targets, and will have firearm targets if I ever adopt a firearm user. The magic only works here and in the sparring arena in the characters who have it, don't want them blowing up the whole place. In the sparring arena, blasts of magic and built in weapons (like claws or fangs) hurt, but not wound or kill like they would back in their homes. The targets are repaired and replaced by robots when they need to be.

Sports Arena
Has basketballs, footballs, tennis nets/balls/rackets, goals, basketball hoops etc. Basically like a highschool or college gymnasium.

Sparring Arena
Sometimes they just need to settle arguments with a fight or want to train in general. This is where that happens. Sparring matches would follow a "first one to draw blood wins" rule, but with the foam replica weapons and weakened body parts that can be used as weapons and magic, drawing blood is difficult. So I let them come up with their own systems to decide who wins.

Swimming Pool
The temperature and weather in the hub are set at a constant pleasant level, so the pool is just fenced in, it doesn't have to be covered or in a building. It has a diving board and a water slide, as well as a shower room. One of my couples who don't have RPR profiles, this gal and this guy to be exact, would probably live in the pool if I let them. I know they had sex in it a couple times. They didn't even try to hide it from me, they flat out told me they did it and sounded like they thought I was going to zap them or something. I'm okay with it, conception isn't possible in the hub and I have the males snipped after they've fathered a few kids anyway. Plus I know it's in their nature. Being of an aquatically inclined race/species, they can do that without harming themselves and it's probably hardwired in their brains to go in the water if they're near it when they're craving romance nine times out of ten. I programmed the robots to add some extra chlorine to the water after they're done though, for sanitation reasons, and the pool is completely drained and cleaned once every two weeks.

Trampoline
Also popular with the above mentioned couple and their two kids, their kind also enjoys trampolines. It's a decent sized modern style trampoline, made of creator reinforced materials in both the mat and the elastic straps that attach the mat to the frame. No metal springs here, and it's virtually unbreakable and unrippable. If only the trampolines I used to have were that sturdy...

Park
Has a playground for the kids and picnic benches, also a small field for outdoor games.

Garden
Fruit and vegetables grow here, tended by robot gardeners. Animal based foods generally aren't available in the hub because of the lack of a ranch, but sometimes I import them, or at least I bring in dairy, egg, and meat substitutes, which is easier. The characters can complain all they want and say they can totally taste the difference, but if they want the real deal, I'm not forcing them to eat their meals in the hub.

There's that! Would anyone be interested in me suggesting an official RPR contest involving the fleshing out of hubs?

EDIT - If you're interested in the contest, mosey on over to the suggestions board, I made a topic there!
Cool, when I saw Park I thought it said panic for a moment XD

Handwriting can do that I guess? Lol.
Hmm... I saw this and thought you might have use of this map buidling site I found a while back. It seems its style of squares fits the shape of your map.

That's really neat! I'll consider it. It looks pretty complicated though, and I might be able to use just a regular paint program.

Anyone have anything to say on the descriptions of the areas?
These all are individual buildings? What is the terrain between them if they are? grass? dirt? stone? (Trying to flesh it out in my head.)

XD I had this kind of headquarters for my characters when I was younger. It was far from the same, but it was still a place managed by the equivelent of me, a persona, and my characters could be safe there. Then I wanted to share it, so I integrated it into my written world I shared with my RP partners. It became part of the plot, though its partly sealed off. It's also medieval in nature as I rarely play modern.
I like this, it looks like a fun place. And it shows you take care of your characters :)

I actually didn't consider what the terrain between the buildings is, but I'd say like, grass. The two lines on the squares represent doors.

I mostly do medieval as well. Cheeto Fingers over there is from the only non medieval fandom I'm in...

Merc: I have a name and it's not Cheeto Fingers.

It's better than Pillow Humper.

Merc: SHUT UP THAT WAS BEFORE I WAS IN A RELATIONSHIP!

*mutes him* He has some friends, acquaintances, and relatives that come to the hub though, so he's not the odd one out. Most of the time.

The snack machine has a little picture of a cookie on it and the drink machine has a little picture of a bottle of pop ^_^
That's great :) I picture it as a rather sunny place, with paved trails leading from place to place and a calm atmosphere.
Now, that's not really necessary unless you want to RP it with others, but if you do, an internal floor plan of the central building and temple and such would be awsome. You know, to understand what's inside.

I plan on doing a floor plan of the central building, yeah. The temple is pretty much just bare inside, the robots recharge in there, it's not as big as the central building.

Probably won't RP it with anyone else though.

I thought so too, when I defined my place. It was very personal, it was a safe haven. But then, since I had plots actually happening in there, and I had a friend that really loved some of those characters, I allowed her to bring a character into it. which mean I had to share it. It turned out to be really fun, as I integrated her characters into my world. My characters ended up developing in ways I haven't forseen before that. I wouldn't do that with just anyone though. AND I modified it for sharing, because, as I said, some of it was kinda personal.

Idk about plots, but I have indicated that friends' OCs can go there if they want, so...
