Hey everyone! I’m a little bit new to this site so I’m still trying to figure out how everything works, but here’s my question!
I don’t currently have a computer, so I’ve been using the site on my phone, and for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to put up a character profile picture. It always says the files too large. Does anyone know how, or do I just have to wait for a computer?

you have to make the picture small enough to fit the size. Its easier done on computer.
You can resize the images on paint. Just load the image and then click resize. Then you will get some options on how to resize the image.
Like others have said, you'll probably have to resize it!
For icons, the filesize can't be any bigger than 100kb. Usually when you resize it to 95x95 pixels, it works out, but animated gifs can still be too large in filesize.
For gallery images, the max filesize is 500kb. You can usually resize the dimensions, or reduce quality, to achieve this. Resaving from .png to .jpg also helps, as .png is usually heavier.
As editing usually doesn't work that great on a phone, you can either ask a friend to do it, or use an image editing website.
This one lets you specify a max filesize, but I'm not 100% sure it works on mobile: https://imageresize.org/
Otherwise you might have to find a photo editing app for your phone to work with!

I have been resizing photos using Paint myself and I find it more effective since I can undo and redo all I want in case I need the photo to be slightly bigger, but not over the 100kb requirement.
My alternative is similar to Sanne's suggestion by using image editing sites. If you need a photo immediately, you can also use postimg and set the resize to 100x75 pixels (avatar size). Then choose the image you want, wait for a bit, and then they'll have your resized image done! Just download the file and tadaaa.
I have some free time right now too so I don't mind resizing your images for you.
