Hi,

I know some of you are really into writing and will have the answer to this.

Does anyone know a good site to put original short stories on where you still keep your copyright (you're not selling it to them, or giving them the rights to it), but you can let other people read it or download it for free? Maybe with a community of readers and writers?

I feel like I've seen something like that on Wattpad. Is that a good place? Are there other good sites? What sites do y'all put your short stories on to share or even sell?

Thank you in advance.
Wattpad is a good site ! Use it too

Wattpad, Archive Of Our Own (AO3), and there is another one, but I think it is fandom-specific.
Fictionpress and booksie.

I wouldn't recommend archiveofourown because it's 99% fandom based and while original content is allowed, it's considered odd to upload original fiction.
I use quotev a lot
There's a limit on free posts, but Writing.Com is pretty cool. Friendly, supportive community. Rating and review system that encourages constructive criticism. Loves newbies. Just a bit tricky to learn to navigate effectively, since there is so much there.

THAT is the one! I couldn't remember it earlier. It is a bit full on, but then I thought that of RPR when I joined too. And yes AO3 is fandom heavy.

But didn't you say you thought the other you couldn't remember was fandom-specific? Because WDC is very not fandom specific. Mostly original stuff, but it does accept fanfic.

And I've been a member for years, back when it was Stories.Com, and I still get lost. To be fair, I haven't really been active in years and they've changed things around a few times during that time.

Yes, I did. I think I got AO3 and Writing.com confused when I was typing that out. Writing.com was the one I couldn't remember and AO3 is the fandom. The only reason I ever went to AO3 was because the old Henneth Annun Tolkien site had all their stories archived there. I haven't logged in to either place in some time. I should see if I can remember my login details....

Thank you all so very much! That's exactly what I needed to know.

I decided to choose Booksie to start off with, because I liked the layout of the website, but eventually I'm going to try out more of these suggestions and compare, and see which ones I like and are the easiest to edit on and things and which ones have the most activity. The Booksie site was a little not friendly with my phone so the first thing I posted is kind of weak, but its because I am just learning where everything is on the site. Thanks again. I knew y'all would know.
