So I have two book covers that I made for my book I am working on, and would like to see which cover people like best.

One

Two

I loooooove the first one!
I actually prefer 2. The position of the round moon in juxtaposition with the round candle with the title in the middle makes for a clearer composition. I might suggest (if possible) moving the candle slightly more to the right so that you have the two lights sources in opposing corners. It would draw the eye more clearly across the title as it moves smoothly from one to the other. Even if you don't I still think 2 works.

Thanks you for your vote! :P

I totally agree that it'd look a little better with the candle lightly to the right, but the dang photo cuts off on the left side so if it moved it any more to the right there would be a blank space. x.x

Thank you <3
I’m on my phone, but I’d like to elaborate on why I like the first one, lol. Sorry about that, hope this is helpful. 😂

I love the simplicity of the first design. It feels enigmatic to me, which I love in a book cover. They’re the ones I pluck up first because I impulsively want to know what’s behind the mysterious cover. I love the single candle and the faded moon in the back — and I’m obsessed with the font and red text. I think it offers a great and eye-grabbing contrast. Only thing I can think to suggest is bumping down your name at the top, just because it seems a little close to the edge. That’s all. 😊

Oh, and I also love that there’s no indication that it’s part of a series. That’s another thing I love about discovering a new book: loving it, getting to the end, and then getting to gasp: “THERE’S MORE?” That’s such a great feeling.

Anyway, hope it helps. Whatever cover you choose, we all know the story inside will be kickass. ❤️

The first cover does have indication it's part of a series. It says BOOK ONE at the bottom in the off white banner. But thank you!

I am conflicted on it because I don't really like the full moon, it makes me think too much of werewolves and it's a vampire/witch novel. Several people also said the same thing that the full moon is a little misleading.

2 is way better. the first one reminds me far too much, rather immediately, of the twilight series and the ... oh it's called something. It's another vampire and witches school sort of story.

2. 2 is my vote indeed.

I prefer 2 as well. The red-black-white of 1 is just a bit cliched and I love the fonts you used in 2!

I have to agree with the more recent views. My vote is with number 2 mostly because it, to me, looks like the more refined version of number 1. I will say though that both are very reminiscent of the Twilight series and House of Night series.

Both are well known and you might want to vere away from that. However, number 1 was the only one that truly screamed instantly "that looks like House of Night," and honestly I haven't read either of those series. So, for it to remind me of something that I've simply seen off and on again, that might be something to take into consideration.

All the best! :D

It looks like those series because it is in the same genre. It's urban fantasy, except it's protagonists are two witches and a demon that are running from vampires. Most covers in the genre look very similar because candles and moons are the most common things when it comes to supernatural creatures and magic. Most books in the same genre have similar covers. Historical romance IE bodice rippers usually have a couple in historical garb in some sensual pose, or a corset wearing maiden, or a man with an open peasant shirt. Erotica usually has some sort of bondage item on the cover, or a couple in mid embrace.

Not to mention I have very limited resources and had to make the cover on my own using only free stock photos. The moon is important because Jax is a demon that only had her powers at night so they are usually fighting at night, and candle is the only available free option for a realistic representation of magic, and also matches the name of the book.

But thanks, I like number two the best.
Second one. It feels like the first one got an upgrade and that’s what it ended up as ^_^

Wow it has been a while since this topic!

Such to my liking, Ignited ended up not being ready for publishing until this year. I ultimately decided to get a cover made, even though I did like the options I created; I just felt like something was missing; someone who really knows what they're doing and has more experience making book covers. So I vetted like 20 people on fiverr and decided on this lovely person. Who create a simple but striking book cover for me, exactly what I wanted. The back and spine for print are yet to be done as I am still finishing up the final edit of Ignited this month, but the front cover is here and I wanted to share with those who had partipated in this original poll. :)

(Cover in smaller size/lowered resolution to fit better in forum post.)

As you can see my my pen name has since changed since this post as well! This is because I'm on the fence with my birth name, and wanted something that sounded snazzy and made me happy as a pen name for my published works. :)
