I was going to wait but after talking about it, I need a way to release my sadness.

Can we just take a moment to realise it's almost been a year since two parts of my (and many others) childhood died?

21st of August, 2018 Stefano Karl Stefansson died after a 2 year battle with bile duct cancer. He played Robbie Rotten in 2015's "Lazy Town" and was one of the biggest idols and influencers in my life. A year later and looking back on the photographs of him in that hospital bed, and I still want to cry.

27th of November, 2018 Stephen Hillenburg died after a battle with ALS. He was the creator of spongebob and another absolutely HUGE influence in my small girl years.

I don't know what I was getting at. I just. Wanted to pay tribute. It's an emotional time :firefly-is-over:
Amen.

ALS is so wicked. I watched as a childhood friend succumbed to it at age 18, and another good friend at age 27, and my mother-in-law at age 61. I also heard in February of an online friend I’ve RPd with through the oughties had succumbed to ALS/MMD. I created my Starlightdiva character in her honour. ALS/MND takes the body and leaves the mind inside to struggle to get out. I did that Ice-bucket challenge a few years back as a fundraiser, and am glad there has been strides made in combating such a terrible disease.

I grieve with you in your losses of such icons of your generation. I’m glad you shared this. I’m remembering all those I’ve known who have fought against ALS/MND & Cancer and have passed away.

I think Robbie Rotten's death is so much more personal to me since I had the privilege of meeting the man in person. We spent so long talking about the show and why I loved him so much, and we even have photos on my bedroom wall. I'm thinking thats why many people seem to think I'm overreacting. ^^;

The two diseases are truly horrible and the world would benefit without them. It's sad how there's hardly anything a lot of people can do. </3
