Getting On The Same Page

Posted by Kim on November 1, 2010, 9:42pm

For those who are curious what's going on, this is a rough sketch of my current to-do list for the RPR, roughly in order of priority. There's a distinct possibility that notifications may jump to the top of the list as the annoying bugs and limitations of the current system get to be intolerable... Hard to believe it was just expanded a few months ago. Apparently the site's functionality grew faster than I thought.

This list DOES NOT include misc. bug fixes, smaller feature tweaks or new templates, only major arcs.
  1. Epic Accounts (Development mostly complete. Currently in testing.)
  2. Groups & Guilds (Research and design complete. Currently being built)
    • Almost certainly being included in first release:
      • Drag & Drop page customization
      • Private group forums
      • Announcement mechanism (like journals)
      • Give individual titles to every member (Blacksmith, storyteller, master of cyborg technologies, etc.)
      • Membership applications for more exclusive groups (May or may not be possible to custom build applications in first release)
      • Ability to feature members
      • Give out edit/invite/accept&reject applications/moderation/GM privileges separately
    • Planned but for later release:
      • Group calendars
      • GM only notes
      • A bunch of other things that are being kept secret until feasibility is determined.
  3. Redo Dashboard notifications
    • This will be a deep cleaning and partial rewrite of the existing code. Much of it will not look outwardly different, but will make future development easier.
    • Fix "duplicates" bug
    • Include support for group happenings
    • Add portraits and other icons to notifications for aesthetics and easier scanning
  4. Upgrade Search
    • Smarter search results
    • Ability to search based on genres and other categories
    • Ability to search for groups

I'm looking forward to having groups :D

Five dollars sounds like a good, reasonable price ^^

Not nailed down for sure, but probably $5, possibly less. There'll be "one time" things too, that will get you a thing for life, like extra space for characters.

All of these things sound lovely! I'm looking forward to groups!

Any idea how much Epic Accounts will cost?

Hey, floggings are always necessary! :P

I'm most excited about epic accounts because of all the awesome features.

A suggestion for the search feature might also be a sitemap for the different pages/faqs/options.
