Mental Health Check-in!

Posted by Kim on October 28, 2020, 9:00am

You may be experiencing some unusually high levels of anxiety this week. You know... higher than the anxiety you may have been experiencing for this crazy, crazy, 2020 of a year. If you are -- I'm right there with you.

I wanted to take a moment to remind you that the RPR has fairly extensive mental health resources, including a lot of stuff that can help to calm you down or cheer you up. :) Taking good care of your mental health is equally as important as eating healthy and getting enough sleep!

Please share what YOU do to calm down and cheer up in the comments! For me, volunteering, exercise (crypt of the necrodancer, anyone?), hanging out with my pets, and coloring books help a lot to keep me sane.

I'll do a random drawing from commenters, and send the winner a coloring book meant to de-stress adults. :D

Deep breaths, RPRFam! We're plunging into the future together!

I like to sketch in order to calm down! They often times aren't the prettiest sketches, but I find it satisfy to draw lots of abstract shapes. I let my hands do the work without thinking much about what I'm drawing, which helps give me a distraction and some peace of mind.

I usually listen to ambient music to calm down. A big one is a lot of the ambient tracks from the first borderlands game. They bring back memories of a simpler time lol
