Um, hi. I'm FlowingQuandary. I chose this name mainly because FlowingUncertainty just didn't feel right. Um, I've done RP for awhile, though I am kind of shy. Thus, not doing it that often. I'm sitting here looking at the suggestions at the top of the page and see one is "What's you favorite subject in school?", and I can tell you that my least favorite was Writing/English. I absolutely despise writing essays, as I can never really think of what to write. I'm telling you this because I thought I'd let you all know that I won't be writing multi-para replies, only because I just can't and that's one of the things I hate about myself. I feel bad because I usually feel inadequate when I write shorter replies. But I've recently found that I am able to write more if I'm given more to react to, so there's hope for me yet. Sometimes I feel like a hypocrite when it comes to this subject because on rare occasions, like this one, I can write A LOT.

And there is another thing that I hate about myself. I'm not very creative when it comes to making characters... I usually just put the bare basics for them, maybe a picture or two, and then I just leave them. I kinda feel bad because then not many people want to RP with my characters, but I just don't know how to flesh out my characters well enough to be appealing... I guess if you guys have any sites, or even your own suggestions, that could help me create fleshed out characters, I would love to hear them.

Welcome to RPR! I tend to keep my profiles pretty simple too, and there are so many people here with tons of different playstyles that I am sure you can find someone who suits you! As for character creations, perhaps one of these two articles can help you out? Hope you're enjoying the site so far! Everyone here is so super friendly so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

As far as post length goes... Some people really like long posts and want to see them all the time, but that's a personal preference, not the only way to be good at RPing! We actually had a community discussion awhile back about how to get better at writing for RP, and what "good" even meant. It became really clear that a lot of it is personal preference, and the only universal is that people like to feel that they are being included, reacted to, and not controlled. As far as essays go, I love writing them regardless of the topic. If ever need any help, just hit me up. It can be MLA or APA, I don't really mind.

I think your characters will be able to grow here, as mine grew through RP with others and they become 'canon' as they say it. So don't worry about being basic. We all started that way.

I remember when I first started RPing and my posts were so small and I thought they were adequate. Yeah.. pretty embarrassing when looking at that now. After joining this site, I've gotten my own writing style, I'm accustomed to writing longer posts (though I'm not exempt from writer's block), and my characters are well built; I don't think they'll ever stop growing, honestly.

Anywho! I really hope you enjoy your time here. And, yes, quandary was definitely the better of the two.

I like all kinds of RP. I have more experience with and am more comfortable with modern and fantasy settings, but I don't mind trying Sci-Fi settings. I like video games like Minecraft, Assassin's Creed, Borderlands, and a recent game that I've been playing a lot is Black Desert Online, which is a game from Korea that dropped here in North America back at the beginning of the year. I also like to read books, most any kind I would read. Um... Oh! I have a dog. She's really pretty. In fact, as I'm writing this, she's taking a nap behind my chair. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head right now.

Like pretty much everyone else on this thread, I'll just go ahead and offer myself as a RP or simple conversation partner, though since I'm just a mustache I might get a little boring after a while.

I totally know what you're talking about with the character thing. It really just comes down to not really having the right words, not a lack of creativity. Just remember that when you get insecure about your writing!

Unfortunately it actually is just a lack of creativity. I know you were trying to get me to see it in a better light, but it's not the truth. I've already accepted the truth a long time ago.
