Due to his doubled strength and size cairo holds the younger children back without hurting them and shouts in a mild panic "assallya hurry up and fix them they got little children weapons and they don't know what they're doing HELP!!!"
Ren Hemmberg (played by Revereen)

Borrowing a fragment of Azumi's power since she is his familiar, he teleports away from the shards and summons a different weapon, with his last used weapon disappearing. It was a spear with a long, slightly thin, but incredibly sharp tip. This spear, however, was able to be dismantled revealing a longsword made of glinting, greenish crystals and a staff. He casted a spell using the staff to protect Liothryth, Azumi, and himself, and simply waited for the shards to stop raining like arrows. At this exact moment, he enchanted his legs to move faster and charged, accelerating towards Radigan with every step he took.

"This swordspear better not break like last time...", He muttered to himself as he charged towards Radigan, swinging the sword, which made it shoot out beams of green light towards him
Azumi Hemmberg (played by Revereen)

"I can deal with the weapons!", Azumi yelled to Cairo, thinking he wouldn't be able to hear whatever she just said thanks to the diminutive stature of her true form. She teleported the weapons out of the children's grasp and magically flung them at the arm Radigan was holding Linota with, in an attempt to free her. Then, something genius came up inside her mind, these children knew Cairo and Linota, right? If they couldn't listen to a wise old fox such as herself, maybe they shall listen to someone they know! She summoned a staff on her right hand, raised her tails, and casted several shield spells of varying kinds.

"Cairo,", She said with a determined look on her face, "Make them remember your bonds with them, their time spent with you! It may be the key to freeing the children!"
Assallya (played by Slain)

"RADIGAN of PENDEL!" a voice boomed, "You will submit to judgement in Azuth's name."

A fierce redheaded woman sat atop a barded steed, steel plates gleaming in the sun. Her green eyes were wild with the anticipation of combat.

There, at the edge of battle stood Aislinn, the Witch Finder, chosen of Azuth, the God of Spellcasters. Hunter of those who would use magic to harm the ungifted.

"Yield to the question or be smited!"

Liothryth Terandes (played by Mirafin) Topic Starter

Lio cast a shield spell to stop the icicles and embers, but she she was just slow enough that one ember got through before her spell and hit her in the shoulder. I should have practiced more... When Radigan turned around she took the moment to pat the fire out and then balled her right hand into a fist and made a motion as if she was pounding something on the ground. A moment later her staff appeared in what had been her empty hand. She didn't often fight with a staff unless there was hand to hand combat, but it was better at making things like shield spells than just her hands alone.

She was about to send another spell to attack him when the red-headed stranger rode up and challenged Radigan. Lio was never one to turn down allies, but having one show up in the middle of a fit seemed a little too convenient so she would be cautious before turning her back on the new comer.
Cairo listens to azumi suggestion andshouts at the children "guys its me Cairo you remember me right? I took the punishments when you guys messed up robbing that merchants wagon, come on you guys have to remember that. Radigans just tricking all of you if you can beat this trick all of us can finally be free!" Not really knowing what to tell the children when he hears linota shouting he shouts back at his best friend "I can only do one thing at a time lin just wait!" But cairo notices radigan dropped linotas staff he trie to think of a plan to retreive it without letting the hypnotized children run wild
Assallya (played by Slain)

"You would use children as weapons?" the red headed knight in the silver armour called out incredulously, "That fell deed alone cries out for justice!"

The silver armoured knight spurred her horse, brashly charging at Radigan with sword outstretched before her like a lance. At over eighty stone, she was as much a rolling boulder bounding down a mountain as she was a warrior.

(( Note: 1 stone is 14lbs or 6.5kg. ))
Azumi Hemmberg (played by Revereen)

Azumi, at the last second, was able to teleport near Ren and deflect the incoming projectiles, but was unable to deflect two of the children's weapons, which hit her on legs, only slightly cutting her.

Ren, on the other hand, saw this. The already ignited rancor had been kindled inside him. His familiar, the one person he truly cared about, was, in his eyes, in danger.
He was angry, yet his face could not form even just a sneer at Radigan. His mind bent on one thing only, Azido.

"A-azi....", but Azumi yelled at him, ensuring him that she was alright.

"You're... bleeding!", he wanted to listen to Azumi, but he was focused on killing the man who nearly killed her.

"Kitsune don't bleed, dear, we're spirits! It's okay Ren-"

"No... A-azid-", but he was forced to sleep with a sleeping spell by Azumi and pushed aside with a gust of wind magic, in order to keep him away from any dangerous spells. It would be difficult to fight without her bond, but she alone was still powerful enough to fight with her newfound friends.

"Do not test us", She said sternly, "You must learn not to threaten a Treasoner!"
Liothryth Terandes (played by Mirafin) Topic Starter

Lio took a breath and turned her staff in a circle, using it to make a large spell shield. Magical attacks weren't getting through Radigan's shields, and when they did, there was a chance they might hit Linota. It was time to move from purely magic to physical. He couldn't defend against a physical attack and hold both Linota and the staff.

Though she had trained in hand to hand combat, that was centuries ago, and Lio was even more out of practice with it than magic, but needs must. She added a small speed spell to herself and then held her staff straight out in front of her with the tip pointing at Radigan then charged.
Linota (played by DoogieMeowser)

“These right here,” Radigan shouted, pointing at the children all around the yard. “These are savages! You should be grateful that I care for them, shelter them! They need direction! They need a brain!!” He grabbed the amulet around his neck, as if to showcase his meaning. “Without me they are nothing but filthy vermin! I can make use of them as I please!!”

As focused as he was on defending his honor to this red headed knight, Radigan missed what happened with Azumi and Ren after the makeshift weapons were thrown. Linota, however, saw the whole thing–though she couldn’t hear them over the shouting–and now looked on with great confusion. What in the subterfuge was happening here? Linota stared at Azumi from her place on the ground, logic trying to win over suspicion and failing. Granted, she was partly scared and mostly agitated– logic wasn’t exactly within her reach. Even if it was, it would still be difficult to justify sidelining one of their teammates.

Radigan was simply delighted to know that the man who had shot green beams at him was now blowing away in the wind. Delighted, until the red headed knight’s horse came suddenly barrelling towards him. Liothryth was right on her tail, the speed of her legs unnaturally quick. Radigan sucked in a startled breath and threw himself to the ground, scrambling to pick up the staff that lay there. He wheeled around on his knees when he managed to get a grip around it then struck the end into the earth with all the force his injured arm had.

A burst of energy did indeed come out of the staff, but it wasn’t explosive and it made no effort to push anyone back. This blast did nothing to anybody, except him. The hourglass turned and the staff reset, which simultaneously caused Linota’s bindings to vanish and for Sir Radigan’s head to be turned into that of a rooster. It was an ugly thing, with scraggly feathers and fleshy patches showing through them. The first thing Linota did when the binds released was remove the silver platter that she had tucked into her shirt and trousers at the start of all this. It had been digging into her hip bones the whole time, spurring her anger, and she threw it away from her before rubbing at her reddened sides and arms. She stared at Radigan with an open mouth and one hundred questions. She didn’t know what to appreciate more, the sweet freedom or the result of the backfiring staff.

Liothryth and the knight charged, and chicken-Radigan hid behind his energy shield, as weak as it was. The knight reached the shield first, being on the back of a steed, and proved herself to be an illusion when she struck it. Radigan prepared for impact, staff readied in his hand, but the knight burst into glimmering air. Liothryth would hit it next and split right through it, her staff shattering the shield as if it were made of glass. The tip of her staff tore through Radigan’s shoulder, just below his injured collarbone, and the hourglass staff once more flew out of his hand. He squawked wildly while his only working hand tried to rip the staff out, struggling against the force of Liothryth.

Linota wasn’t sure if Radigan was still able to think inside that new head of his, but he certainly didn’t sound like he could talk. He seemed to try to talk, but all that came out were things like, “CRRAAAAAWWWWW” and “RRREEEEEEEE”, and at one point even a “cock-a-doodle-doo” as he desperately tried to find any semblance of a word. Linota pressed her lips together, knowing this wasn’t an appropriate time to snicker. How could she ever hate magic? She got to her feet, shaky from stiff joints, and ran to retrieve the fallen staff. Radigan’s beak lashed out at her, though it proved more frightening than dangerous as Lio had him pinned in place. Linota recovered and picked up the staff, then faced Radigan down with teenage furocity.

The children were still wailing behind Radigan’s screeching and their cries had not gone unheard to her. Some of the older kids remembered the story Cairo spoke of, having been genuinely grateful for him taking the blame for their failure. Though as true as that was, they wondered why their heads throbbed with the need to kill him. It was agonizing and even more so now that they had to question why. Linota lunged forward to rip the chain from Radigan’s neck and successfully nabbed it, the clasp breaking easily in her adrenaline riddled yank. Then she threw it on the ground, raised her staff high in the air, and drove it down, crushing the jewel beneath it.

A puff of red smoke hissed out of the jewel and the children snapped out of their hypnosis all at once, their expressions quickly turning to fear and shame in turn. They knew what happened when they lost time. They knew what happened when commanded by the amulet. They would wake up to a mess of gore and bits, knowing they had just ended the life of one of their friends. But there was only double-sized Cairo there, holding them and making sure they didn’t bring harm to anyone. Henry smiled up at him, always having thought Cairo was one of the funnest older kids to play with. Now he was a human shaped jungle gym!

Linota was practically vibrating with excitement. The amulet was destroyed! Her staff was in her hand! Radigan was at the mercy of Liothryth!
“Maybe now we can eat him,” Linota said, glaring at Radigan. “After we kill him.” She looked at Liothryth expectantly, waiting for her to finish the job.

Radigan had begun to search his inner pockets, something Linota didn't fret about since she thought he was looking for his watch. It seemed he had been, by the frantic way his hand patted one of his pockets, but he moved on to another. He eventually pulled out a small stone and began to rub it vigorously between his thumb and forefinger, creating an electric current that ran through his body and into anyone he touched. He reached his arm out for Liothryth, aiming to touch her anywhere he could reach.

“Kill him now!!” Linota cried out, feeling useless even with the staff in her hand.
If Radigan managed to touch her, Lio would feel a shock that would temporarily paralyze her.

Lio was now totally focused on Radigan, there could be no other distractions - except his head turning into that of a chicken. That was most certainly a distraction. It was almost enough for Lio to let go of her staff in surprise. But she knew it was still Radigan, still the scum who had harmed - and possibly even killed - children.

Most spells only required the will to do them, and perhaps a motion of a hand or staff to focus it. But there were others that required so much out of the caster and that could do so much harm that they required a word to be spoken along with the will and the motion. Lio had hoped never to have to cast such a spell again, but Radigan deserved the worst she could give him. So with a small thrust of her staff, Lio spoke the word that she and three friends had once used to destroy an army.
Assallya (played by Slain)

The blonde elven sorceress, still naked, inside Radigan's home chuckled as the illusion of that haughty paladin woman crashed into Radigan. It was a bit cocky and ill advised but the look on his bird face had been hilarious. She didn't know that a bird could look that way, with those huge gawking eyes, and that gaping beak! Assallya's eyes sparkled with mirth.

She'd intended for the illusion of the paladin to be the target of some sort of magical strike that might have hurt some of her friends but-

-friends? That was an odd thought for her. Did she have friends now? Assallya didn't like that. Friends got you in trouble. Friends got you killed.

Still, that was a train of thought for another day. Radigan still lived. So far she'd used only the smallest of magics, the weakest at her disposal but they had sufficed. That was the beauty of coming at someone sideways. Deflect, never meet an attack head on. Hide instead of fight. Choose your battlefield. They were words she lived by.

She almost laughed at her next thought. Another illusion! This one would be good. With another quick enchantment she conjured an illusory bucket over Radigan's bird-like head. It would probably only blind him for a moment. Now that he knew someone was using illusions he would likely disbelieve it. Disbelief was a powerful thing but he would likely be blinded until her disbelieved and that would be all the opening someone might need to take down the tyrant.
Cairo still effected by assallyas magic sees an opening uses rushes towards radigan and throws a punch with all his might sending radigan back a small distance but still dishing out a good amount of damage and says "assallya i dont know what your doing, but keep doing it!" Determined and ready to beat the madman
Linota (played by DoogieMeowser)

Lio’s one whispered word barely reached Radigan’s avian ear holes before a searing pain erupted within him. It would be the last word he ever heard, the last face he ever saw. ’A waste,’ his mind inside the rooster still thought of her.
Electricity flowed through the staff and exploded in his core, thoroughly broiling him from the inside. Liothryth had seen his lightning spell and raised him one thousand. There was hardly time for a fearful “BA-GAWK” before Radigan was no more. Fried chicken on the top, roasted pig on the bottom.

Linota couldn't tell if the smells that were now mingling in the air around them were good or bad and that thought made her feel sick. She grimaced at the steaming corpse and backed away from it, just in time to see Cairo jump in and punch Radigan right in his crispy beak. His boots, which had been seared to the ground, unstuck with a sickening peeling sound and his body flew. It landed a few yards away, with Cairo’s added strength, in a misshapen heap of steaming limbs. Linota stared at Cairo in that way she usually stared at him when he overkilled something, but she couldn't blame him for thinking the bird man was still alive. It was hard to tell with that new rooster head of his.

“Gods above, Liothryth,” Linota said, turning to the mage. “I wasn't serious about eating him.” Rather, she detested the idea. She was only trying to scare the man!
Linota gave the scarred woman a wary look before sharing that same look with Azumi. Ren was still under a sleeping spell on the ground and Linota wanted to interrogate the kitsune about it, but hastily decided she would have to ask about that later. For now, she kept a watchful eye on Azumi while interacting with the others.

“Can you move him?” Linota asked Liothryth then turned to everyone else. She hadn't needed to look at the children to know they were utterly horrified. “Into the house with Caldwell. And where are the other kids? And.. Assallya–” Linota's cheeks rouged when she noticed her. “Saints of old, put some clothes on.”
She looked away from the woman, uncomfortable in her own skin now that she could see all of hers. She had seen nudity plenty of times, living in the house in front of her, but this was different somehow.
Azumi Hemmberg (played by Revereen)

Before Azumi could react, the tyrant was delivered a painful execution. She woke up Ren by dispelling the hex put on him and he woke with a startle, sending off a Fireball in the dead Radigan's direction.

"Where is he?!", He yelled as the corpse was further burned, but all he could observe was a dead... something, alongside his newfound allies. He walked over to the odd creature, with an incredibly confused face, not knowing what had just transpired while he was unable to participate in the battle. He looked around, hoping to find Radigan somewhere, anywhere.

"What is that...", He asked Linota, with a distraught and confused face.

"It's Radigan, Renny", She said with, looking guilty as to what she had done to her son, but her demeanor changed into a more strict manner, "Did I not tell you that the Azido artillery spell you've been bestowed is something you cannot readily control?! What if the children were hurt?! I understand I matter to you more so than any other living being in the universe, but that is no excuse to forsake all else!"

"I-", but Ren was interrupted by a pouting Azumi who simply crossed her arms in annoyance and turned away, giving him some sort of a silent treatment.
Linota (played by DoogieMeowser)

Linota winced and shielded her face when Ren’s fireball whizzed right past it. She heard the thud of impact and, since she didn't feel anything on her own body, she whirled around to see what it had struck, hoping it hadn't been Liothryth. Luckily, it was Radigan's corpse that took the hit, though the flaming projectile had been too close for comfort.

No wonder the kitsune had to put him to sleep! He was a loose cannon!! Linota whipped around to face the man as he asked questions, to yell at him, but Azumi started to scold him for her. She didn't know about the spells the familiar referred to, but Azumi was right about the need for caution and the threat of consequence. Linota only watched as the small creature turned her back on Ren, not seeing any sense in kicking him while he was down. The information had been given and, seemingly, received, so she wouldn't stick her nose in their business. She was relieved to discover that Azumi was genuinely looking out for the best interest of the children all this time. Conflict avoided, for now.

Linota continued waiting on someone to help her move Radigan’s body, permanent in its chimeric, disfigured form. She would attempt to move him herself, but, if she never wanted to touch him before, she sure as hell didn't want to touch him now. Besides being a disgusting mess, he was cooked, which made him extra greasy. It had already begun to ooze from him and pooled in the dirt around him. Linota started to step closer to him, a beat of bravery having taken hold, before she turned away and gagged. Nope. No way.
Liothryth Terandes (played by Mirafin) Topic Starter

Lio was jerked off balanced as Radigan's body went flying, but managed to recover. She stood near where she had killed the man, leaning heavily on her staff and obviously exhausted, trying to take in everything that had happened. She looked around to see if anyone was injured and what the current situation was.

Seeing Linota going to try to move the corpse, she took a few unsteady steps towards the young woman. "I can...I can move him," she told Linota, her voice soft, "but I think I'll need help afterward. Show me where you would like him." As she finished talking, Lio raised a hand and as she did so Radigan's corpse rose into the air. Knowing it would take her longer to get there than Linota, she started walking the house, using her staff for support and the corpse went along with her.
Ren Hemmberg (played by Revereen)

Ren, was already at a loss. How did that man turn into some sort of genetically spliced... thing? He also had to deal with a disappointed Azumi, who he tried to apologize to. He watched as Lio and Linota attempt to drag Radigan's corpse away somewhere, he honestly didn't know what they were going to do with the body, but he was nonetheless curious.

"Don't tell me you're gonna bury him...", Ren said, groaning. He didn't like the idea of having to touch another dead body, despite his experience as a treasoner. He called the still pouting Azumi to help him and the other two deal with Radigan, and silently obliged, not looking at Ren.

"Gimme a break, Mom", he said, frustrated.

"Unfortunately I won't, dear. Not until you control that unstable power of yours"
Assallya (played by Slain)

The blond sorceress turned away from the window from which she'd been secretly helping her allies. Some would call it cowardly but she saw it as an opportunity to entirely focus on the objective. Besides, would they have preferred she saunter out into battle completely naked? Admittedly, she'd used that tactic in the past but really... she was beyond such things now.

Mind you, as far as she was concerned, she could have handled the entire thing discreetly had they just let him return to his home. Just like she'd handled Caldwell. Admittedly, that would have gone a lot easier if it weren't for those two riling up their handlers. Turning, she regarded the sleeping Caldwell, loosely wrapped in the covers. The ruffian was lucky as far as she could tell. The lackwit had missed out on helping his boss and, most likely, joining him in a miserable end. Speaking of which, he'd probably be waking soon. He'd already passed the point where the magic was holding him asleep. His sleep was of the natural variety now.

Heading over towards the bedroom closet Assallya looked about for clothing belonging to an old girlfriend or something. Unfortunately there was little better than the rags she'd come into the house with so she resorted to pulling on the simple homespun dress she'd worn when she'd arrived. Then, after glancing outside to see the rest of them all arguing about what to do with Radigan's body Assallya merely shrugged and slowly sauntered outside into the sunlight.

"Does anyone have Radigan's comb?" she asked, pretending to be oblivious to the smoking rooster-headed corpse.
Linota (played by DoogieMeowser)

Linota looked curiously at Ren when he called Azumi ‘Mom’. She hadn’t heard him refer to her that way before. She looked at Azumi too and her face scrunched in confusion. Nope to that as well, she decided after a pause, then subtly shook her head.

“We'll put him with Caldwell,” Linota told Liothryth, accepting that she would have to show the mage. “And make sure he doesn’t wake up.” She aimed to blame Radigan’s death on him. Linota didn’t know if Liothryth could put people to sleep or keep them sleeping, but she assumed the old mage could do just about anything. She was, well, old! And she had scary scars and she just cooked a man! Surely Caldwell could be dealt with if the need rose.

As Radigan slowly floated toward the house, one of his limbs fell off with a ripping smack and landed meatily on the ground. Linota gagged again and wanted to tell Lio to hurry up, but one look at the woman and it was clear that she was going as fast as she could. The teen looked down at the fallen limb, thought about picking it up for one full second, then looked around for an out. Cairo would pick it up if she asked, she was certain, but he would have a hard time fitting through the door right now. Her eyes found Ren next.

“We need to be sure his whole body is together,” Linota said to the group, though she was looking at Ren. “His whole body.”
Maybe since his, er, ‘mother’ was angry with him, she would encourage him to be the limb retriever as well! Linota could only hope so.
She walked away from the carnage and toward a cropping of trees that separated this yard from the next and picked up a stick. It was a good stick, about a foot long and sturdy, but not too thick. Linota looked at it as if it were perfect then turned to face the macabre seen again, her eyes following Radigan’s floating corpse.

“I thought the comb was in his bedroom,” Linota told Assallya through a grimace. She wasn't looking at her as she was focused on avoiding Radigan on her way to the house's front door. “Or with you. You had it in your hand.”

She afforded Assallya a glance as she walked by her, wondering why she needed a comb right now, of all things. Without waiting for a response, she walked into the house, found the bedroom where Caldwell was sleeping, and waved Liothryth in.
“Put him there,” Linota said, pointing to a spot on the floor. Then she walked over to Caldwell’s naked body and loomed over him.
She didn’t mean to, not for so long. It was just that she had seen him naked several times, but never like this. Now the tables had turned and she was the one to look down at him. The memories his pale skin brought on made her jab the end of the stick into his hand more aggressively than she had planned to. It dug into his palm, like a blunt stake, and he woke with a jolt.

“YAHHHH!” Caldwell cried out in pain, holding his freshly injured hand protectively to his chest. “Wha--?! Who are you people??”
He scrambled backwards in the bed with only his feet, while flopping around quite immodestly. He didn't look much like Caldwell at all anymore.
“Put him to sleep!” Linota shouted at Liothryth once she was done being frozen with fear. If Ren had indeed followed them inside, holding the detached limb, Linota would turn to him too, her eyes pleading.

“HELLLLPP!” Caldwell began to wail.
