Some of you Roll for your Text-Based RPs here, and I find that to be very fun! I am also not the best at deciding what dice to use for self-made situations*.
Questions for you:
Do you pick a system you like/ come up with your own mechanics/ or some amalgamation?
Do you Consider yourself the DM for your RPs in this case?
Does this make RP with people who do not roll more or less difficult for any reasons?
also: More or less fun for any reasons?
To what extent are you making rolls?
Strictly combat? Other chances?

I don't roll frequently at all, when I do it's usually just for something I've arranged ahead of time that should have a roll to add a bit of chaos into things, and I will generally simplify it down to a percentage chance that seems right and roll a d100.
If I wanted to do something more system inspired I'd probably crib from whatever tabletop system seemed most appropriate for whatever I am rolling.
I don't ever think of myself as a DM, though, and I don't think rolling or not would make things more difficult, I do generally think it's a thing that should be agreed upon first if randomness will be an element though!

That makes sense.
I feel like I don’t know how to play a drastically different character than what I like to lean into: “Kinda Silly Lady- small or tall.”
Maybe rolling on some stuff could help me make the leap.

I am a big fan of diced based RPs because no matter how cool your swordsman you're going to eventually get a bad roll. it adds a like spice and improvisation.
I tend to do dice RP in groups, but there are systems out there which is DM lite and the players are supposed to all take equal parts of that mantle.
I have tried Dungeon World aaannd I didn't like it very much. From a mechanical standpoint it seems like the players are rigged to fail. I honestly dreaded rolling. And from a story telling standpoint there was a problem where the players (who I'd all consider to be seasoned and skilled RPers) didn't want to take the reigns and direct the story. For me personally I was hesitant because it was supposed to be a shared experiences and I was scared of taking too much of the spotlight.

I don’t know if I’ve played Dungeon World. Maybe once.
I really like the simple ones: Monster of the week, Honey Heist, Transformers ttrpg had been fun. The character sheet is weird at first, but, it is very generous to level one characters who are specializing.
I could definitely see adapting some of those things for a 1x1.

I do stuff without a system, but if someone attacks my character I might do something like rolling a d4 (or more if I want more options or if it feels like there should be great chance for one particular outcome)
1 - Miss
2 - Light Graze
3 - Wounded
4 - Knocked out
1 - Miss
2 - Light Graze
3 - Wounded
4 - Knocked out
rolled 1d4 and got a natural 2.
If I'm the one working the setting of an RP I'll use dice to think out the behavior of elements of the world which I don't know the behavior of, or to set a soft timer on something where "hey, this die is gonna keep getting rolled and on a 1 the thing will happen." I don't typically roll for the results of player actions unless they're just testing what will happen and the answer is not consistent. At least in pure forum RP. I've dabbled in adding more frequent rolling but that's not for most stories.
Usually I just kinda set a number range/threshold based on the logic of the scenario and percentages that feel good and which die or dice I feel reflect the degree of granularity and normal centering the situation calls for. Sometimes I also slap together a table of possible outcomes in excel if it's a random enough situation and then roll on that. In theory I'd also like to use dice pools sometimes but RPR doesn't have great support for those, I don't think.
Edit: OH!!! THEY DO SHOW UP IF YOU OPEN THE RESULTS!!!!! Is that new? I might have just missed that. 0 v0 Ooooooo options.

Note: like
rolled 1d6 and got a natural 5.
Note: this
rolled 1d6 and got a natural 4.
Note: instead
Like Juls, I tend to use dice in my collaborative writing RPs for critical decisions when I'm not sure what my character would do. I tend to use the simple coin (1D2), but sometimes use a 1D4. Haven't been involved with any online dice-based RP.
I would use the same system as Juls with the addition that the target has 3 HP. That way when you roll a 2 (light-graze) then you knock the target out with a 3 or 4.
1 - Miss (0 dmg)
2 - Light Graze (1 dmg)
3 - Wounded (2 dmg)
4 - Knocked out (3 dmg)
1 - Miss (0 dmg)
2 - Light Graze (1 dmg)
3 - Wounded (2 dmg)
4 - Knocked out (3 dmg)
rolled 1d4 and got a natural 4.
Note: Lets see if I knock him! Need a 3 or 4
