Responding to Yuki:

Mr. Purple was busy driving along. He had no idea where he was or where he was supposed to be driving. All he knew is he was having fun playing taxi driver and that was all that mattered. He glanced back to check on his passengers. It was then that Mr. Purple realized that Dani was leaning over toward the other rider. The gag was no longer over her mouth and she was whispering to them. The other passenger seemed to be writing her notes. This could ruin everything!

"Hey," Mr. Purple said in a not-so-friendly tone. "You're supposed to be quietly looking out the window! Dani, do you need to go back in the trunk?" He turned all the way around, only keeping one hand on the wheel. He was once again not watching the road ahead. Mr. Purple reached for the cloth around Dani's neck, attempting to pull it back in place over her mouth.

The blonde girl leaned back out of reach and in the other direction, turning her head to prevent Mr. Purple from getting to her.

"Hold still," their driver demanded, now completely distracted.

Responding to Liz:

The dazed deer was having trouble keeping it together. The next thing she knew, well meaning bystanders were ushering her and Mr. Purple onto the bus so they could cool off in the AC.

The passengers who had been on board made up most of the crowd and bystanders were all outside the bus. They thought they were being helpful and the deer definitely seemed to be dazed. They assumed the puppet was also disoriented and the cool air might help calm them until the paramedics arrived.

Off in the distance, the wail of sirens could be heard. Emergency vehicles were headed to the scene but still several blocks away. Mr. Purple helped Liz to the front row of seats inside the bus. Instead of taking a passenger seat, Mr. Purple sat down in the driver seat!

They were now the only two on the bus. Mr. Purple studied the dashboard and a moment later and pressed a button. The doors closed! Suddenly, he put the bus in gear and the vehicle emitted a beeping sound and began backing up.

The panicked driver looked up from outside and frantically began banging on the doors trying to get back inside. Mr. Purple ignored him. There was a horrible scraping noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. Mr. Purple had backed the bus into a car that had stopped behind them to offer aid. He put the bus into drive and drove around the remains of the twisted purple pile of metal that had been their cab.

The crowd of onlookers scattered as the bus took off down the road. The driver jogged along side the bus for several dozen feet before giving up as his bus drove off down the road without him.

Mr. Purple turned to Liz. "Don't worry my dear, deer! The library is just ahead around this corner," He explained calmly. "I'll have you to your date selling camel by the lion outside the book building in no time!"

He was driving down the center of the road so the lines dividing the road were between the wheels of the bus. Mr. Purple began to accelerate and he bumped into the rear corners of the cars ahead, plowing into them and shoving them aside.

Mr. Purple began to sing in a very out of tune and out of rhythm voice, "The legs on the bus go step, step, step..."

As he rounded the corner, the bus went up on two wheels. The airborne wheels hit the pavement putting all 4 of them in contact with the ground as he completed the turn. Mr. Purple continued to sing.

Ahead, if Liz looked out the front window, was the library! There was a bus stop by the curb and a familiar camel who seemed to be hurrying down the sidewalk toward where they had just come from!

Even shaken up like a kid’s rattle, Mr Purple manages to get his mind set to the next idiocy, steeling a bus….
Lizbeth, still a bit groggy, lets herself guide, like a zombie, to the front seat of that left alone city bus. She doesn’t even realize what this puppet is going to do.
She simply sits on first row seat, idle stare out of the front window, not even eye blinking, her jaw dropped down. Her head, without any purposed reaction, bounces against the seat as the bus hits the car behind.
The jogging bus driver could only see that purple puppet at the steering wheel and a doe, mindlessly sitting in first row, hands folded over her pouch in her lap, mouth open, staring in front of her.

She could have freaked out, no, she could have panicked, like she does so often, no, she didn’t even stand up and try to flee. Not even that weird, unlikely stupid song got her out of that brainless stasis. Until that known figure she recognizes in distance, Yassin, her friend.
Her hand goes up, slowly, index curved forward, “…ssn” mumbling sound, “sst..p”. Like a robot she stands up, holding her pouch in front of her lower belly, and steps in front of the bus door “..pn ”, her hand unconsciously pushes some button and a red light saying ‘STOP’ appears above the driver seat.
The bus plows through trafic, nothing is going to stop it, not even a complete police squad and firefighter brigade. Even laws of physics are set aside!!! They’ll need more than that to restrict that purple puppet to fulfill his duty towards that poor doe. Out of nowhere some heroic tune starts to play, making out of that crazy Mr Purple a savior of the poor and deprived, a moment of pure glory, HE will save the day of that martyred doe and bring her to that wanted, long claimed final destination!!!
Yuki (played by CrypticStardust)

Their attempts at communication had, once again, been interrupted, and at this point Yuki was only more confused and frustrated. They had so, so many questions and part of them wished they could just shout them all and demand answers. But they couldn't. They tightly gripped their notebook and pen with hands that trembled almost imperceptibly.
Until the puppet turned around again.
Yuki didn't hesitate to make a grab for the fabric-y arm of the unnerving purple puppet, the arm that was reaching towards Dani and trying to replace the gag. They didn't want him hurting the woman, or preventing her from communicating again... And for the love of everything, they didn't want him to take his attention off the road.
With enough force to be slightly painful to anything with nerves (which they doubted the puppet had, but who could be sure?) Yuki wrenched the puppet's arm away from Dani. They glared at him, because although they tended to keep a neutral expression, right now they wanted to express their emotions and, they figured, glaring was the next best thing to shouting. Yet again they pointed forward, and now it was more obvious that their hands were shaking, though whether it was with fear, anger, or both, one couldn't be sure. Regardless, it was unusual for them to lose their composure like this, even in these small ways... and Yuki knew it was unusual. They prided themself on being calm and unflappable, and this wasn't even the worst or weirdest thing that had happened to them... So why? Why now were they- No, they couldn't dwell on that now. They could reflect on things later; right now, they just had to get through this.

Responding to Yuki:

Yuki finally became pro-active and began wrestling with the puppet's arm away from Dani. When they tried to use techniques to pinch the puppet's nerves, they found there were none. The puppet's arm was floppy and lacked bones and felt as though he was nothing more than fabric and cotton stuffing.

“Nope,” Dani retorted in a commanding voice responding to Mr. Purple's reaching for her before Yuki intervened. “Mr. Purple, turn around and keep your eyes on the road!”

Yuki glared and pointed as well re-enforcing the point. The puppet reflexively turned back around as ordered and attempted to retract his arm from Yuki to place it back on the steering wheel.

“Now then, I have no idea where this cab came from, but you don’t have a license! You don’t even know how to drive! In fact, you can’t read, either!”

Mr. Purple’s head made a 180-degree turn, his mouth opened as if to gasp.

“Now then, my new friend Yuki is mute,” Dani continued confidently. She leaned forward defiantly, getting in the puppet’s face.

“That means they do not communicate verbally and must write their words down. That’s a bit problematic for you, Mr. Purple, because your ability to understand what they want is solely dependent on my ability to read you what they wrote down and I can’t do that if I can’t talk.”

Checkmate, Dani thought. That should ensure she remained ungagged for the rest of their trip, especially given that she seemed to have won over Yuki's support.

“You don’t even know where they want to go, do you,” Dani pressed glancing to Yuki now. “it would be a real shame if Yuki had to give you a bad review online or report you on your very first day of your new job, wouldn’t it?”

Responding to Yuki:

"A b-b-bad review," Mr. Purple stammered. "You wouldn't do that, would ya, little buddy?" The puppet turned to look at Yuki. "All I wanted was to be a cab driver! All I wanted was to get out and have fun! You don't understand what she did to me!"

Mr. Purple looked back again at Dani.

"Why did you abandon me, Dani? You left me locked away in a suitcase in your closet and forgot me! I just wanted you to know what it was like! I'm sorry," The puppet continued and began to sob. "Boo woo woo woo!"

Mr. Purple began throwing his head back and thrashing it around sobbing. The puppet's eyes made no tears but he was being overly dramatic.

Responding to Liz:

The bus zoomed along pushing cars aside as it continued toward the book building with the lion statue. Suddenly, Mr. Purple noticed the pedestrian.

"Hey! A camel! I bet he's the one with the dates," Mr. Purple said turning to face the frightened doe. "Hang on, I can't stop here! I have to get us to the bus stop."

Just ahead, was a small sheltered bench enclosed with glass and steel beams. A blue sign with a simple picture of a bus drawn in white was on it attached to a pole just outside the sheltered area on the sidewalk.

Mr. Purple eased the bus to a stop in front of it without hitting anything. He pressed a button and the doors opened.

"Well, there ya go, little lady! The building with the books and the lion. There is your camel friend who has the dates," he informed his only passenger.
Lizbeth Redwood (played by Fantax)

Finally, yes, there she is, she made it. Not on time but she made it.

Lizbeth steps out of the bus, Yassin runs over as he recognized her sitting in that bus. But something was strange, nobody else on that normally quite busy line, and that doe acts weirdly.
"Lizbeth, Lizbeth, hey are you fine, you took public transportation?" Yassin waves a thank you to that bus driver, even if this one doesn't look like a regulatory bus driver from the company.
Lizbeth doesn't answer, she only stands, without a word. "Lizbeth?" the camel asks again looking at her.
But Lizbeth only turns around lifts an arm and waves 'Goodbye' to the driver. He'd better leave now, down the road a bunch of angry car owners, a whole police squad with Special Anti-Terrorism Unit, 4 or 5 firefighter trucks and a mounty on a horse are coming in his direction. All with sirens, cataclops and profaning insults of all kind.

The bus drives of, another music out of nowhere, Valkyre, as the bus drives of for his next destination, alone into the setting sun. Bye Mr Purple

Yassin can only watch that bus drive away, holding a collapsed doe in his arms

Replying to Lizbeth:

Mr. Purple gave a friendly wave as the camel rushed to the door of the bus to retrieve the doe. The deer turned and waved back before collaspsing into the camel's arms.

"Gee, what a rewarding job," Mr. Purple said to himself as he closed the doors to the bus. A moment later, he continued on down the road. "I wonder if I can get one of those dapper hats like the other guy had."

The bus held a lot more passengers than the taxicab. This could be potentially a lot more fun. Mr. Purple just wondered exactly where bus route 57 was supposed to go. Oh well, he'd figure that part out later.

As the bus vanished down the road, several police cars with sirens wailing raced passed the bus stop.

OOC: This concludes Lizbeth's Summer Soiree. Thanks for playing!
Yuki (played by CrypticStardust)

Yuki just... stared, for several seconds. Their fear and frustration were temporarily forgotten, replaced by pure confusion as they listened to Dani's speech, which resulted in the puppet starting to cry - or at least, what resembled crying, even if no tears fell. They weren't sure if that crying, and the explanations and apologies offered by the puppet, were some kind of manipulation tactic or if it was all genuine. Regardless, that wouldn't change Yuki's decision.
They had released the puppet's arm fairly quickly after he had started to pull away and turn around, and now, once again, Yuki began to write in their notebook. After a few moments of the pen scratching quietly against the paper, they showed the written words to Dani, under the assumption that she would pass the message along verbally to the puppet.
"I might leave him a bad review, or call the authorities. No matter what his reasons are, they don't justify behaving like this and endangering people."
Danielle Lockhart (played anonymously)

Responding to Yuki:

Yuki released Mr. Purple's hand as he launched into his sob story. At least the puppet was focusing on the road again until he turned to look at Dani when she called him out for being illiterate and as he started crying hysterically.

"Mr. Purple! Eyes on the road," Dani snapped, trying not to freak out. Mr. Purple continued to make sobbing noises but turned around just in time to avoid another close call and nearly missed hitting another car. Dani shot Yuki an apologetic glance. They gave her disapproving and nervous look in return.

"Okay, look I'm really sorry! You're right," Dani began redirecting her attention to the puppet before turning back to Yuki. Dani realized she better explain what was going on for their benefit. Yuki was writing another message down as she spoke.

"So... Mr. Purple is my puppet," Dani began. "I got him after going to a comedy show. One of the performers was a ventriloquist. I thought that would be a cool thing to try. Unfortunately, I realized I was really bad at it and my jokes weren't funny. Our first performance was a disaster..."

Mr. Purple was sobbing less but glanced back and cleared his throat.

"It was totally my fault, not his," Dani continued. "So, I also kind of have a really bad habit of starting things and jumping into hobbies and giving up on them sometimes when things don't go well or get hard or have a bad start."

Mr. Purple looked at Dani again as if giving her a disapproving look.

"Alright! Okay! I get it! I do that all the time," Dani confessed. "I have the attention span of a goldfish! Yes, we did a show, it went badly and I gave up and shoved you back in your storage bag and put you in the closet and forgot about you. I get it. I understand now! You're trying to teach me a lesson by showing me what it's like! I'm very sorry! I promise I won't lock you away and I'll try to give this thing another go and if it doesn't work, I'll find you a better home and give you to someone who deserves you!"

Dani paused to read the note Yuki had just finished writing in their notebook, but didn't read it aloud.

I might leave him a bad review, or call the authorities. No matter what his reasons are, they don't justify behaving like this and endangering people, Dani read to herself. She got wide-eyed and gave Yuki a panicked look and shook her head no. She was still trying to de-escalate things.

Responding to Yuki:

"Our ONLY performance," Mr. Purple corrected her.

Dani went on to explain what had happened and admitted to her flakiness and apologized and said the thing Mr. Purple had wanted to hear... she was sorry and acknowledged that she had cruelly imprisoned him in the dark, stinky bag and selfishly locked him away in her closet and forgotten him.

"Awwww, ya mean it," Mr. Purple asked after Dani finished. "You'll give our act another chance?"

Dani paused to read a note Yuki had written. She was about to tell Mr. Purple to pull the car over in a discreet place where no one was around so he could untie her and let her take the wheel. She was going to offer to take Yuki wherever they needed to go and then suggest she and the puppet have a long talk to work things out between them.

Before Dani could respond, the puppet turned it's head to face the pair in the backseat. That was when their luck ran out and things went horribly, terribly wrong...

A truck with a load of 2 x 4 boards hanging over the bed with a red flag at the end pulled in front of the cab. In the moment Mr. Purple turned around, he failed to see the truck and hit the brakes in time. The lumber smashed through the windshield and into Mr. Purple's plush head, decapitating him.

Dani screamed in terror. Since she was still strapped to the seat by the seatbelt and her arms and hands still bound with the ropes, all she could do was tip herself over to avoid being struck by the wood that had pierced the windshield. Her head was now in Yuki's lap on top of their notebook, but it was still attached to her body unlike the puppet's. She and Yuki were unhurt, at least for the moment.

Mr. Purple's severed head bounced off the back window, ricocheted off the front seat headrest and landed in the passenger-side front seat floorboard, putting it well out of Yuki's reach from the rear of the taxi.

Since Dani was still tied up, she was completely helpless and unable to act, but did manage to sit up. The truck's driver continued to drive, unaware of what had just happened. The lumber pulled free of the interior of the cab and continued on with the pickup that was carrying it. However, Mr. Purple's headless body continued to try to drive the car!

"Hey! Help," his disembodied head called from somewhere in the floor of the front seat. "I can't see where I'm going! Someone get my head and hold me up so I can see the road!"

The car took off at a high rate of speed again and began drifting recklessly out of control between the lanes!
Yuki (played by CrypticStardust)

Of course. Just when things had started to look like they might be heading towards a happy ending, they just had to go horribly wrong instead. Once again, muteness was the only thing preventing Yuki from cursing or crying out; they were terrified, on the verge of panicking, and their heart felt like it would beat out of their chest with the combination of panic and adrenaline. They and Dani had narrowly avoided being injured, but that didn't mean things were okay; the car was still driving and the driver couldn't see where he was going. Not that Yuki trusted the puppet to drive, even when he could see... That was why Yuki came to a decision.
Was it a good decision? Probably not. Was it a well-thought-out decision? Absolutely not; it was highly impulsive. But it was the decision Yuki came to, anyway.
They unbuckled their seatbelt and clambered into the front of the car, leaving their notebook, pen, and backpack on the back seat beside the tied-up Dani. Yuki shoved the puppet unceremoniously out of the way so that they could take the wheel themself. It seemed better than fishing for the puppet's head and holding it up as asked, and it was definitely faster than untying Dani so she could drive... Their goal was just to pull the car over as soon as humanly possible so this rolling disaster was out of the road.
