Sam gave the guy who walked up and quickly tossed three balls at Melody applause as two of them deflected off the button glancing off the edge (19, 6, and 2)"These buttons are unforgiving! There has been at least a half-dozen deflecting misses thrown!"
Sam laid three more dollars down to get three balls. "I'm going to split my throws... one at Sophia and Jane; one at Melody; and the last one whoever I decide ...

"Darn it... both throws at Melody missed as did the throw at Jane and Sophie... guess I better buy some more!"

Denver had been at the fairgrounds just wandering around when he heard a bullhorn squawking about something. When he arrived, he found people throwing softballs at a couple dunk tanks. Thinking it would be fun, Denver went and lay down some cash …
“Three bucks for three throws?“ Denver asked Abigail, giving her his friendly yet deadpan look. Collecting the balls, he had to choose who to throw at.
Rolls dice
Denver decided to throw at the two cute women on tank 1, and the first throw hit well high of the target. “I need th get better than that.” he said to them. The second was to the side. “Ohh… You two look too comfortable sitting together up there. Ok, one more…”
Denver’ thought back to when he played baseball in high school, he gave the ‘strike zone’ a hard stare. His third throw hit plum-center with force and tripped the latch that dropped the seat out from under the two women…

“aaaaaah! Jane! We’re going down!” Sophia cried out as she wrapped her arm around her best friend as the seat gave away under them. The two girls were claimed by gravity and with Jane on her lap, Sophia’s butt hit the water first sending a wave up the sides of the tank. Soph managed to take in a big gasp of air before she went under and Jane’s hair wrapped around her and mingled with her own.
"Alright! Look at them splashing around together!" Scott said as he went to get more balls. "We need to sink Melody before this thing is done!"
He got Summer three balls to throw as well and handed them to her before lining up on tank 3. "Let's see if your luck has run out Melody!"
*throws*
Scott shook his head at his awful aim. "Well, you stay dry a little longer!"

Summer gave Scott a scowl as his eyes lingered a little too long on the two women who fell into tank 1. She was about to elbow him when he went and got some balls to throw.
"Thanks babe... were you distracted while you threw yours?" Summer asked with a slant of sarcasm in her voice. She then paid him no more mind as she stepepd over to tank 3 to try and dunk Melody.
"Ok, you can't have any more luck in your probability tank can you?" Summer then took a stance and started throwing her balls...
*Result is 18, 9, and 13*
Summer thought the first one would hit, but it dropped below the button. The other two throws weren't even close. "Melody, you sure are lucky! Maybe you should get down and claim victory before your streak is broken!"
She then turned to Scott and scowled again as he watched Sophia and Jane flailing in the water.
"Come on, let's go to the beach." Summer hooked Scott's arm and they gave everyone a wave as they walked away from the dunk tanks.

Scott was lingering as he waited for Sophia and Jane to climb out of the tank, but Summer was on to him, and as she hooked his arm, he gave a wave. "Thanks for the fun everyone! See you around Sammy."
The two wandered through the fair as the sun started to get low on the horizon as they headed to the nearby beach.
(OOC: thanks for hosting this Abigail, and to everyone who participated!)

Athan had just finished the last action skit at the Wild West Show at the fair and was heading home Sunday evening when he walked by the dunk tanks. It appear there was a cute young lady who had been up on the tank seat all day and had yet been sunk.
“Gimme three balls.” he said in-character as he slapped three genuine 1880 Carson City silver dollars down before the lady at the desk. Looking her in the eye, he says to her, “Y’know…” he looks at her name tag. “… Abigail… y’all put on a period dress and come down to Clancy’s Saloon; you’d make a perfect Cathy Connover! Could use ya in our next show.”
Giving her a wink, he takes his balls and goes over to try and dunk ‘lil Melody…
Nate’s throws looked good but weren’t on target. The last one deflected off the edge of the button but didn’t knock it in far enough. “We’ll miss, guess you stay’n dry for a while longer.”
He then tapped the brim of his hat and gave her a nod before giving a wave to Abigail and walking off…

Abigail cheered on each person who took a turn at trying to dunk the two remaining volunteers on tanks one and three. She thanked both Ethan and Samuel for their time and being good sports as they got dunked, and really let out a cheer when Denver hit the button square on with force, ending the myth that the tank mechanism was jammed.
"Woo-HOO! Jane and Sophia are soaked!" she cried out as the applause echoed around them. It seemed the two women were taking their time climbing out, and Abi didn't blame them being it was still hot out and they were in their street clothes. Fortunately, they both had left their personal belongings with her, and she had put them in the lockbox under the desk. If they wanted to change after they got out, she would give them a complementary set of fire department workout shorts and a t-shirt.
There was some interest in getting the last dry volunteer dunked with throws from Scott, Summer, and a charismatic cowboy from the wild west show named Nathan.
She cheered them all on, and even tucked the thought away of cosplaying a saloon girl like the cowboy suggested.
"Ok Everyone, we still have lucky Melody who has sat up there all day without a splash! Let's get her dunked before we close!" She got some balls out adn waved Samuel back over. "Watch the desk while I try my luck sinking Melody."
She patted Samuel on the shoulder and went over to toss the balls at Melody...
*rolls*
Abi's first throw glanced off the button like so many throws have done through the day. The second throw was way off, having slipped from Abi's hand too soon. The third throw was a high arc that Abi assumed as soon as she let it go would surely miss. But as it came down, it hit the top of the buttin and the bell rung and Melody went down!
(July 13th Update: Everybody got dunked!
As it's Sunday evening of the last day of the RPR Summer Soirée event, it is also Sunday evening and the closing of the fair which the dunk tanks were a part of. I'm closing the topic and anyone who has participated and hasn't responded to any activities involving their characters yet, or wishes to write themselves leaving the event, feel free to post.
Would love to see Jane and Melody, and Sophia again if she wants, write a reply to respond to their dunking!
Thanks again for everyone who participated!

“Wah!!” Jane exclaimed with a shocked and surprised face as she and Sophia were suddenly dunked into the water by Denver after his last ball hit the target. Sophia hit the water first, followed by Jane, and the splash drenched her face. She wiped the water from her face, laughing at the absurdity of the situation, as she took in the sight of herself and Sophia, both now soaked to the bone. “Okay, you got some serious skills, dude!” She said to Denver, chuckling and grinning from ear to ear. They were both drenched, and the water dripped from their hair and clothes.
As Jane tried to stand up, the water continued to drip from her body, and she playfully tossed her wet hair over her shoulder before climbing out of the dunk tank. She then turned to help Sophia out, offering her hand and pulling her up. “That was a blast! Now, let's go ask Abi if she has some spare clothes for us to change into?” She suggested, still beaming with happiness. The event had come to an end, and Jane felt elated that she had volunteered to participate this year. When she climbed up, Jane saw that Melody finally got her time to get dunked after being so lucky with missed attack. "Finally!" Jane shrieked toward Melody.
As they made their way over to Abigail, Jane thanked her profusely. “Thank you so much for letting Sophia and me participate in the dunk tank! Your event is so much fun! By the way, do you have some spare clothes we can borrow? I'd love to change out of these wet clothes, and thanks for keeping our belongings safe.” Jane's face radiated joy and gratitude, and the cool water had given her skin a healthy glow. She was more than ready to change into some dry clothes. As they spoke, Jane turned around and bowed to the crowd who had tried to dunk them. “Thanks, everyone! That was a great time!”

Sophia splashed around a little more as she gave Jane a push as she climbed up the ladder out of the water. They probably should have thought things through a little more and had gotten something from Abigail before they went and got themselves soaked. But here they were.
Being careful that her sodden sundress was in position before following Jane out of the tank, Sophia was all grins as she came down and walked up behind Jane to talk to Abigail. "I'll just need a towel as it is still warm out and I'll dry soon enough walking around."
She then looked at Jane and thought it would be fun to be dressed the same as her. "On second thought, I'll take the t-shirt and shorts too."
They were quick to get to a restroom and returned as twin sisters from different parents. "Thank you Abigail for this event!" She then turned to Jane. "So, what should we do? Go have a beer? Or go and have a proper shower and change?"

Melody barely had time to take in a breath before she went under. It actually felt good after sitting up on the tank all afternoon. She had only just then decided to get down after Abigail's last throw.
Coming to the surface, Melody shook her head to get her hair from her face before her hand did the rest. "It figures my luck ran out on the last throw!" she said before turning and climbing out of the tank.
"This was interesting and fun, and I'm glad it raised money for the fire department!"
She then collected her belongings and decided to jog back to the dorm as-is. "Thanks Abigail! See you again soon!
(Adding because of post before mine)
After checking her phone for messages, she turned when the other double-dunked woman came up behind her friend. With the mention of a beer, Melody smiled. She wasn't much of a drinker, but she hoped maybe if they did go for a beer, they might ask her too? She thought about interjecting to say a beer sounded good, but she didn't really know Sophia and Jane even though they went to the same university. She needed to make friends, but she was a bit shy.
"That dunk was sort of refreshing. What did you think?" she asked both Sophia and Jane. "And if you're going for a beer, I'll buy the first round if it i sok for me to go with you." Melody's nerves tingled from the anxiety that crackled inside her from stepping out of her comfort zone.

Sam watched the table while Abigail sank Melody into the drink. He gave them both applause before he watched Jane and Sophia come over to the desk all soaked. "That's the Sophia I recognize..." he quipped before grabbing his stuff.
"Great shot Abi. Thanks for asking me to volunteer!" he said before heading off to try and catch up with a cute blonde that happened to walk by.
