Since it's been getting discussed a bit more lately, I wanted to share a few videos made by an artist who explains more in-depth about how generative AI (especially for visual "art") works, brings up some of the variety problems with it (both problems it causes and problems it faces), and also talks about some of the efforts being made to combat it (mostly Nightshade and Glaze, but other tech and legal battles as well). She also talks about how some proponents of generative AI have been responding to her (it's not great, but at least she seems amused).
I don't doubt that there are sources, including videos, that explain thing more in-depth and/or more clearly, but I think LavenderTowne does a pretty good job of communicating the gist of things with some balanced detail and examples.
Some of these might have been shared here before, but my memory is blah and these are kind of a set, to a degree. Videos are in chronological order, with the last one having gone up within the past couple weeks of this post.

i love lavendar towns take on how sad it is that people are told they will never be able to make art, its very compassionate as well as nails down the idea that art doesnt have to look good for it to exist, it just needs to be yours.
