Hi all and welcome to this little RP prompt! On top of the thousand things I have still to finish, I wanted to give this a try. It's meant to start as a little cozy slice of life - how it's gonna evolve, is everyone guess. What I mean? Let me explain.
The context: The story picks up at the lakeside cabin owned by my OC Cris / Light Raygun. It's set in a fictional equivalent to Lake Braies, South Tyrolt, and many places are going to be inspired by real life locations like the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, Dobbiaco/Toblach (in this version a smaller village, but much similar in style), the Dolomites, and so on. It's a place that used to be very special for Cris and her children - but for a long time she's been burned out of it after some village lumberjacks chased her, when she was expecting her second baby, to claim a huge bounty that had been placed on her late husband's head. The traumatic memories of those events have haunted her for some time, and it's not been until recently that she's been able to face her ghosts and claim back the cabin and the lake as their little "feels good" place, a reatreat from the hustles of high society. When the RP begins, she and the kids have moved in to spend the central holidays week at the cabin; there's a lot to do, food to prepare, decorations to arrange, and the fact it's been heavily snowing just adds an extra layer of holiday cheer to it all.

The audience: Virtually, this RP is for everyone (with some exceptions; read below under "rules"). Your character/s may be already familiar with Cris, people she knows, or they can happen to just run in the cabin and meet her for the first time. The RP is also Multiverse-friendly; Cris herself is from a soft-scifi futuristic world, but there's virtually no limits to the people who can be visiting or appear in play. Magical visitors from another world? "Real life" humans who might marvel seeing hovercars and hearing this fox-masked woman talk of robots and aliens? Cryptids or anthros who have heard of her non-humans Embassy project and want to talk with the person behind it? What about fellow superheroes (Cris herself is a vigilante, albeit one without powers, more like Batman than Superman) who happen to be visiting these places and recognize her by name or by sight? It's your call, and anything goes!
The plot: As I said, this starts as just a cozy, Hallmark-minus-the-romance (again, see Rules) feels-good holiday SoL - but there's no saying that's all there's going to be to it, either. The story can go in a lot of ways; maybe some visitor gets lost in the woods and need be saved? What about a skating contest on the ice? Will there be an annual Krampus parade? Perhaps your character needs directions for the village, and Cris offers to walk them there while she goes to buy a tree to decorate? There's gonna be carolers and bagpipers, or maybe a baking or cookies contest? What about skiing and building snowmen? And if a magical portal suddenly opens, or some magical artifact wakes up from slumber? There can be mystery, there can be adventure, there can be laughs. I'm all for letting the story unfold as we all contribute to spin it! Let's see where this goes
The rules: I've said and I stand by it, that this should be an "unfold as it will" little story with no strictly set direction. I'm all for surprises and new twists of the plot. But, to keep it all from derailing into chaos, a few rules need to be in place.
1 - Respect the general RPR rules about what's allowed on site, particularly with regard to mature topics.
2 - This is going to be a hard rule; I don't want any kind of AI content in this RP. Period. You can't use AI to write or finetune your posts, and you can't use AI-generated art to portray things or places or characters in your posts. I am adamantly anti-AI, and I have no interest in RPing anything where AI is involved; it burns the enjoyment out of me in zero time. If you try to join with AI-generated material (and I can tell, so don't test me out on that; I have a trained eye), I will politely ask that you leave, and if you fail to comply, I will ask that the moderators step up. Since that's not something I'm looking foward to do, save me the hassle and yourself the humiliation and don't join if you plan to use AI, in any way, in your replies. (Note: this doesn't mean your OCs profiles can't have AI contents, that's your right and at your discreetion; I'm just asking that you don't post any AI content *here* in the RP itself, whether it be text or images. Even if you think Ai "words your text pretty", spare me that; I'd much rather prefer a badly-written text to an AI-enhanced, insipid, artificial one.)
3 - I'm not asking for novella-lenght posts, but if you're looking for one-liners or so, this isn't the RP for you. Not all posts need be multiparagraphs, of course - but let's try to be a little creative, shall we? Try to at least include 3-4 sentences and some dialogues; past tense, 3rd person is preferable.
4 - e considerate and respectful of other players and their characters. If you are interacting with someone, whether your OC knows them or not, read their biographies, put in some effort. Of course, it's also important to stay IC, so your character might not / should not know everything that YOU know. IC =/= OOC.
5 - No romance as far as Cris herself is concerned. She's widowed, she was exclusive to her husband and nowadays she's found a new love interest and isn't looking for anyone else. However, it doesn't mean your character can't be visiting with their significant other/s, or who knows - your character may meet their "Ms or Mr Right" in the course of the story itself! I'm just askng that you don't involve my OC - and of course, if your character's going to fall for someone, make sure you talk it out with the other character's player and that you're both on the same page about it. Again, see RPR's rules about mature themes in public forums.
6 .- No powerplaying, no Godmodding. Even if this is a RP that develops as it goes, before doing anything that involves other players and OCs, ask their permission and talk things out. I'll be doing the same with any plot twist / plot idea I come up with. Again, if I find you've been godmodding / powerplaying and gone around the wish of other players, I'll ask you to leave, and if you do not comply, I'll bring it up with the moderators. So - same as for AI contents; spare me the trouble.
7 - TW/Word of caution more than a rule: Cris has three kids who are anthro (furry) foxes. They won't be around all the time, but they're definitely going to appear in the RP. If you don't like having furries in the same RPs as your characters, this might not be the RP for you.
I'll post the starter in a bit, have several things to finish - but meanwhile, feel free to join, ask any question you might have that isn't answered above, and stay tuned!

The air was cold, with a faint smell of burned wood and pine tree and that crisp fragrance of snow that she knew so well.
Cris stirred softly under the heavy wool blankets. Yawning, she pulled herself up and fumbled for her visor while blinking in the dark. At lenght her fingers found the familiar glass frame, and stretching her fingers just a little bit to the right she found her communicator. She almost dropped it before she could switch on the torchlight; it wouldn't even be the weirdest thing that happened with her bad luck with electronics, anyhow.
The comm threw a cone of bluish-white light on the bare, coarse wooden walls. Gone were the burn marks and blast holes that had once made her flinch; she could turn her gaze aroubd now without flinching, without recoiling.
It had taken time, and work, and her heart healing from its wounds - but now the cabin finally felt like home again, an unsought gift she had no longer hoped for.
Smiling, she turned to the two smallish shapes nested against her. Two vulpine heads, one so white it seemed to glow in the dark, the other dark gray eith blue fringes and touches of brown, peeked soundly asleep from under the heavy blankets. Cris pressed a kiss on both her kids heads, tucked in the blankets better so they wouldn't get cold without her, and finally put on her reindeeer slippers and got up, pausing briefly near the crib if her youngest, a tiny baby marble fox.
Then, on tiptoes to not wake them up, she headed in the adjoining room. The wood stove needed to be put back into business; she needeed a strong black coffee before taking on the day, and all it would bring.
