Bulimia Nervosa or Binge Eating Disorder (BED)

It probably has something to do with octopodes or other cephalopods. I'm trying to remember if there's a shape named after a food or vice something.

I know some sea creatures have issues with food and reproduction - either being prone to eating their own young to survive, or starving themselves to care for their nest.

And many creatures have to poke out of a safe place to eat.

female octopodes slowly die after laying their clutch, so I'm pretty sure they don't eat their young. They can and will eat other octopuses though.

brain aspect is interesting though. octopuses have 9 brains, because each of their tentacles has it's own brain so it functions independently.

I don't know why it would be risky to get excited about food though.. and how does a shape sound delicious? gonna have to think about this.

The "risky to get excited about food" is part of why I thought about the eating-own-young thing (and also the poking out of safety). Those are bad things that can happen.

Could also be something that wastes energy or resources if it turns out not to be food. Or maybe chromatophores flashing or something risk messing things up if they aren't careful.
