You know I never said anything about using a shard, right? The Shadows are their own race, and are the source of power for shadow-walkers. The black shard could be a powerful relic (in the Shadows' opinion) that they want to obtain and secure in the Shadow Realm because it gives the power to shadow-walk without a need for Shadows. And thus a reason for being a bad guy.
The scales are what makes these rangers, rangers, if you wanna play a villain you can. I'd put your post after Green Ranger's.
The Shadows, since their home is in an entirely different realm, don't care who has the scale, whether good or bad. They just don't want their mode of transportation of non-Shadows to be shared.
Archer just happens to be their champion as they would draw too much attention to themselves if they were to walk around.
But what I'm hearing is that you're okay with my idea?...

Your character would be our first villain, our group will battle your Villian then eventually when we win we will recruit a new RPer to be our next villain. I home to have a new Villian every other week or so

I don't mind sharing the role of villain with others.
Basically I'm saying the Shadows aren't one to give up on stuff like this.
Though, they would be willing to allow the black ranger to keep the scale if he can prove to them that he has the skills they desire in people they make shadow-walkers. Thus being "defeated", but only as bad guys. They would then switch to the good side. It would be like some of the seasons where the bad guy switches sides and becomes good. Of course, this all wouldn't happen near the beginning. Maybe a good chunk of the way through.

I was thinking more like the shadow people want the shadow scale and we defeat their leader in combat destroying him then a few months later a new and more powerful member of your shadows things may try and recruit the Black Ranger. They fight and the shadows are defeated again, then possibly you team up with another RPers Villian.
A few things.
1) the Shadows are immortal beings, but they will still admit defeat (so no destroying them
)
2) their leader stays deep in the Shadow Realm under heavy guard.
3) only way into the Shadow Realm is through the Shadows. Not even the shadow scale can get one there.
4) they rarely come out of their realm, but shadow-walkers can summon them. Their generals would be who get defeated. (All shadows look the same [dark, shadowy humanoid figures], but I can make the generals wear a little hat to distinguish them from the soldiers)
5) Archer is the Shadows' champion and voice, so he speaks for them and will fight as well. But, as with the generals, he will admit defeat. Though he would most likely vanish before that point. (Makes for less hassle on my part, trust me. His vanishing is his way of admitting defeat in that battle.)

All I had to read was bullet point number one to decide against using them. Sorry, I want to avoid God modding in my RP, I bet your characters are cool but even immortals have weaknesses. Thank you for the interest however!
Also a note regarding #3: you have no idea about my five scales so I don't very well appreciate you telling me what they can and can't do. Sorry but I think we're opting out of using your guys for sure.

In response:
1) Shadow soldiers are pretty weak. A few hits and they retreat back to the Shadow Realm. Just because they are immortal doesn't mean that they like getting hurt. (In this universe, since I usually use them to attack minds. But that is too OP)
3) I only said that the scale couldn't get one to the Shadow Realm. Let me clarify. One has to know where the Shadow Realm is first before one can go there. Only way to do that is to live there or be brought there. Since the shadow scale hasn't been there... (also, the leader isn't a fighter. That's why he's under heavy guard.)

Just a bump since it seems to have been lost...
Hey... can I please have a chance at least? I feel like we could make it work...
You know what, I'll do you one better. I'll just try to swamp you guys with the Shadows. One hit and they go back to the Shadow Realm for a long time. Sound fair?
