One of the wolves leapt at Nikita. She quickly pulled up the knife and if lodged itself in the wolves throat. The wolf was pretty small so it died. Nikita yelped and threw it down.

Andrew was a monster with his spear, twisting and twirling, almost as if her were dancing. No feral wolf could touch him and any that dared get too close got cut or stabbed.

Nikita slowly backed away. Sh ended up brutally killing and wounding three wolves. The pack's number was diminishing quickly.

The remaining wolves ran off, seeing their quarry wasn't worth the losses and they all disappeared into the woods.
Andrew silently pulled the wolves towards the fire and took his knife back from Nikita, he began skinning them.
"Is eating a feral wolf considered cannibalism I wonder..."

Nikita began thinking about it. "I don't think so.", she says quietly, watching him skin the wolves. She sits down on the opposite side of the fire and hugs her knees to her chest.

He ties the skins up on a tanning rack and begins carving up the wolves and cooking their meat, burning it actually in sacrifice.
"This is probably the most twisted, backwards sacrifice Fenris has have recieved. I pray that he doesn't send his brood off to us... THere's no escaping or killing them..."

Nikita had never heard of Fenris until that day. She imagined unbeatable wolves charging out of the forest toward her. She shook her head, putting the thought away.

After two of the wolf corpses had been burnt in offering to the wolf god, Andrew started cooking the other one, salting the meat in order to preserve it then sat next to Nikita.
"I know I asked you to stay... But why do you? Knowing what I told you already about what will happen once I return, preferably with you, why don't you leave?"

Nikita shrugs, "I guess it:s because I haven't been near another person in a while.", she honeatly didn't know why she stayed.

"Well, I'm glad you didn't. I'd have needed a much bigger fire to keep those wolves away," he he'd and thought for a brief moment, hesitating before wrapping one arm around her shoulder and giving her a quick hug before pulling away again.

She quickly hugged him back, "Thanks.", she whispers. "So, do we have a plan?", she asks, wondering what they were going to do next. She stretched put her legs and leaned back, propping herself up on her arms.

"What do you mean? I'm not allowed back to the tribe for another three weeks. If I don't make it back, they'll assume I'm dead and carry on. If I make it back, there will be grand sacrifice to Fenris and i will be considered a man... When someone returns though, with someone they captured, the sacrifice is always the one that was captured."

Nikita knew he would say that. She shrugs and lays down next to the fire. Maybe she would try to escape.

"Even though it's only been a day, I don't want you to be sacrificed. You were willing to stay here, knowing the threat you faced. It was very brave, and if I have any say at all, I'll make sure you aren't the one sacrificed. The custom is that the first words that one utters after becoming a man must be followed through, and if I capture another boy or girl from a different tribe, they will be sacrificed instead.

Nikita was shocked. She wasn't sure what to say. She could only smile brightly and nod. She hugged Andrew, "Thank you so much!", she says.

His own eyes widened in shock at the hug and after a few moments, he hugged her back, putting one hand on the back of her head and holding her close.

After a few more seconds, Nikita pulled back a little. She was blushing like an idiot from the sudden hug. She was just so happy. She was still a little shocked that Andrew wasn't going to sacrifice her.

He smiled warmly, then frowned a bit, "But if you're not going to be sacrificed, that means we need to catch someone to replace you. If I go back with only you, you'd have to be the sacrifice..." he mused and sat down, brushing his fingers through the tuft of fur that protruded from the neck of his shirt.

"Well, I am tired tonight. But, tomorrow I could help you catch someone.", she said, lying down by the fore, glancing back up at Andrew. She rubbed one of her ears and looked into the fire.

"No, the final week we can go. No point in having an extra mouth to feed for too long," he said quietly and thought for a moment, then lay down behind Nikita with his arms wrapped around her, "We've still got the rest of the day. What should we do?"
