Do you like to listen to music while writing replies/GM prep?
I'm kinda curious about everyone else's writing habits. What kind of tunes do you prefer? Do you find background music distracting?
Personally I listen to a lot of punk, goth and industrial stuff while I'm working on things, with a bit of shoegaze or angsty folk music to mix things up.

Personally, I like to have something like Sigur Ros playing in the background, softly - not enough to actively listen to.
If I'm trying to focus, the extra noise of music is often a hindrance (I have a pretty low threshold for overstimulation).
However!
Sometimes, if you need to craft something emotional, then having a few good songs handy can work absolute wonders. I've tried to cultivate a small list of songs that suit different emotional needs that I can use as a boost, of sorts, to reach heights of emotion I can't hit organically on command. A few sad ones (in different flavors), a few angry ones, a few happy ones. A couple of ambient or background tracks just for hitting the right overall (not specific) mood.

I am always listening to music, especially when I'm online. I love to crank it up loud and focus on what I'm doing at the moment whether it's just checking my different accounts, drawing, or RPing.

I tend to listen to my medieval/pagan Euro-folk bands on my youtube playlist when I write. Bands like Faun, Myrkur, Wardruna, Irfan, Niyaz, Trobar de Morte, and others really get and keep me in the muse.
I have playlists for each of my OCs, as well as certain relationships :’) I just play those playlists whenever I’m writing whoever’s responses haha

I usually listen to Twenty One Pilots but will ocassionally go for Imagine Dragons, One Republic, FOB, and such
I find lyrics distracting while writing, so I go for more instrumental stuff:

I usually listen to green day or gorrilaz when rping. Dosen't help me focus much but I could care more.
I also find lyrics distracting while typing words (I'll start accidentally typing the lyrics), but instrumental is ok, in which case I go to YouTube and search for random instrumental tracks. Piano, guitar, or new agey stuff. For relaxing, I like Enya but for writing roleplays again with the words being distracting.
