Connor Kenway (played anonymously)

"Okay. I'll come with you."

Those words carried the sweetest meaning that Connor had ever known in his very troubled life. It was as if a great weight had fallen off his shoulders, his heart being able to beat freely for seemingly the first time. At that moment, nothing really mattered to him. How would Easton cover for her? How will he able to shake off Jack who still seemed to harbor feelings for Dorothy, and where those feelings even reciprocated?

Ultimately, Dorothy had chosen him over all else, over Sydney and her old gang, over Jack, over this forsaken town. That's what mattered.

There was a pause from the Brave as he savored her words, until an ugly scowl came over his face as he heard the lanky one talk. Bones.

Frankly, he cared not what he had to say. Connor heard the man make 'noise' and his words didn't register. It was as if he didn't understand the man's language at all, but he understood the meaning. His words were like poison, trying to instill doubt in Connor's mind. The Brave would have none of it.

"Shut up." He glanced at Bones with a death glare, echoing Jack. In this matter at least Connor and Jack could agree, Bones needed to be silenced.

"Another word from you and I break your wrist." Threatened the Brave. Perhaps that would put enough fear on the man to keep him quiet for now.

Sydney presented a bigger problem. He was a lawman and far more honorable than these brigands. One way or anther Connor had to respect that.

That being said, he would not relinquish Dorothy to him. So high and mighty, it felt as if Sydney could pass judgment over all his lesser. He hated that look-- it reminded Connor of his father.

"You have no hold over her any longer, lawman." Said Connor to Sydney and met his gaze, staring at him from under the guise of his wolf hood.

"But you can do something. Dotty has paid for whatever crimes she has done in the past. I have seen her risk her life for the safety of others, that alone is enough to tell me that the Dotty you knew is gone."

"Forget that you've seen her here, and leave in peace."

Despite Connor's gentle words he still had his revolver trained on Sydney and his party.

The silent threat remained hanging in the air... Connor remained silent then, but the look and tilted head movement he gave Sydney spoke volumes.

'If you don't, I'll have to kill you' His eyes seemed to say.
Dorothy Parsons (played by Juls) Topic Starter

“Careful with who ya trust, Darlin’. A man’s promise only holds as long as he gets enough back. Their allegiance can change as quick as the wind.”

Dotty heard Maggie's statement, but the context surrounding it went over her head. Was she talking about the Goller brothers? Their changing allegiances certainly weren't any breaking news to Dorothy. Yet it seemed more likely she was talking about Connor and it added just a small amount of doubt, but not enough to change her decision.

Connor himself immediately tamped down those doubts by speaking on her behalf to Sydney. "Please, Syd," she added, trying to swallow her own ill-will toward Sydney for the deaths of Bobby and Sparrow - it was really the Gollers that she despised for that anyway. "I ain't some killer."

Bones lapsed back into silence at the threats from Jack and Connor, still nursing his sore wrist, but the smug look upon his face suggested he thought his words had their desired effect.

Charlie cast a regretful look in the direction of Mary as she left - glad that she'd be out of danger, though worried that he'd missed his chance with her. Then looked back to Sydney and Dotty and spoke up to fill the void left by Dave's silence, "How bout you tell us where Flinch and Smitty are..." he said, trying to imply that by giving up her friends, they'd lose interest in following her.

"Told ya they were dead..." she said unconvincingly.

"And I'll sell ya some ocean-front property in Ohio..." Charlie rebutted.
It was time for Sydney to make a decision. There were two options set before him. Eventual death in pursuit or releasing Dorothy to her own devices. Neither option was very appealing to him. He took his time to think over the options while the brothers tried to interrogate Dorothy some more on the whereabouts of the others who attacked Tombstone. To Sydney it felt more like he was being forced towards one decision having no weapons at his disposal.

He could just as well allow Dorothy to leave without pursuing her. It would be hard for him to choose this option since it would feel like he was betraying his job. On the other hand dying at the hands of the Brave would almost be the same thing. There would be no one left to track them down which is not something that he could allow either. Criminals needed to atone for their crimes. The marshal gritted his teeth some as he realized that there was no choice for him. His decision had already been made for him. Now all he needed to do was ready himself to face that decision and abide by it.

"If you break the law after this, Dorothy, I will find you again. For now, you're free to go and live your life honestly," he said turning his attention towards the brothers. "Let's go. We can find the other two on our own."

Sydney would turn towards the Brave with the intention of leaving peacefully. He waited just a brief moment to ensure the Brave would hold true to his word and allow them to leave as long as Dorothy was not in their possession. The marshal would take a few steps towards the Brave heading towards the stairs that would lead down and out of the establishment. He would stick to his word nor would he change his mind. Dorothy had left a lasting impression on him and he did not want her to get hurt in the end. That seemed very likely if she decided to continue to pursue a life of crime. Once he was close enough to the Brave he spoke something quietly to the man still holding a gun on them.

"Take care of her, sir."

There was a sincerity to be found in his words. Despite everything, Sydney wanted her to have a life. There was some concern for her welfare but he would not be the one to keep her safe and look after her. After saying the words, Sydney would move to try and pass by the Brave without causing an incident. Dorothy was his problem for better or worse now. Whatever happened next was no longer his concern as long as they did not break the law and word reached him.
