This is simple, ad a little 'OP' to icons in forum threads as a nice little way to keep track of the OP (original poster) in a thread, as some of us manage to forget even after just looking at the first page, but especially after lots and lots of pages; and some people don't even look at the first page and skip directly to the last. So it would just be a nice neat little flourish.
