Also, the metrics I was using earlier were a bit rounded themselves. 3914.55m actually converts out to 12843.011811somethingsomething - and if we round that off to four decimal places, that's 12843.0118 ft.
(The conversion factor itself is 0.3048, coincidentally also four decimal places.)

Well, I had that slightly backwards - we needed the four digits of precision on the metres-measurement. Eh! Either way.
